Missing my 3 mi easy pace run today on account of the hurricane
Weather will be worse tomorrow, but Thursday is my rest day.
Hopefully, things return to normal on Friday. But if the worst thing to happen to me from Hurricane Milton is missing a 3 mi easy pace run, then I will have been extremely lucky.
At the very least, it will be a 20-year wedding anniversary to remember.

I love bread but try not to eat it
Tumblr media
I feel better when I eat lower carb. But lower carb doesn't mesh with my current lifestyle of running and parenting busy-ness.
Sent Edwin out for hurricane food. Told him to get bread. He texted me from Publix, asked if Wonderbread was OK. Figured he was joking but not wanting to make too many demands on him because he was doing us a favor, I said get what you want. He bought Wonderbread.
I like Dave's Killer Bread because I tell myself it's healthy. I am not sure that's true. Regardless, this hurricane, we're eating Wonderbread.

Ran a 5k this morning
Schedule didn't allow for an actual race, just did it in the neighborhood. Was aiming for 8 min/mi, so just under 25 min, but I'm obviously not in shape for it, and admittedly, didn't fuel appropriately, i.e. ate low carb the day before, no breakfast.
Ran 8 min first mile, but 8.5 mile 2, then 10 min mile 3 and final 0.1, for a just under 28 min 5k.
Another one of those days where I ask myself, what am I optimizing for? If it's losing weight, this is fine. If it's running a 9 min/mi, thus 2 hr, half marathon in Dec, I'm probably in trouble.

First pace run in a while
Just 3 miles, but I did 4.1 in total, 1 mile easy to start, 0.1 at the end to cool down.
My easy pace mile was very slow, 10:38. I was very tired the night before, lying down in bed before 9p, though didn't go to sleep until after 10p. Maybe it was the 2 glasses of red wine with dinner, but I don't think so.
I didn't feel great during that first mile, and when I heard Siri say 10 minutes 38 seconds, I was like, oh man, I don't got this. I picked up the pace, didn't really pay attention, just figured it was too slow.
But I ended up doing 8:38 that next mile, then 8:41 on the next one, I wasn't feeling great though. I didn't know what I should do for my final mile. Should I go for 9 on the dot, should I slow up to 9:40 to go for 9 mi/mi pace for the 3 mi? I split the difference and did 9:13.
After working for an hour and a half or so, I felt very hungry. Made myself and egg. Put it on Dave's Killer Bread toast with a slice of colby jack cheese and some guacamole.

Streaks
I have not liked how a few things are going in my life, so I am starting some streaks to stop doing things that are holding me back. Going to stop doing one thing per day for the next 7 days, and in a week's time I will have stopped doing 7 negative things.
If this goes well, maybe week 2 I'll do the same but to start doing positive things, then in two week's time, I'll have all sorts of good habits.

Tuesday speedwork 2 of 12
Tumblr media
First tempo run, 30 min, plan was first 10 at easy pace, 10 acceleration to a peak, 5 decelerating down to final 5 min at easy pace.
10 min easy was easy, accelerated for 6-6.5 min but couldn't keep up the pace. Ate chili and drank beers for MNF the night before, felt bloated, was mad at myself. Slowed for a min or so, picked up the pace, did my best to hold on until 20-min mark. Think I did ok for penultimate 5 and final 5 easy.

You didn't eat great on Saturday and drank 3 beers. And told yourself you'd do better on Sunday but ate arguably worse and had another 3 beers. But you just have 3 miles at an easy pace on Monday morning so you'll be fine. And you feel predictably bloated for the first couple miles. Then this song comes, you're 2.4 miles in and you feel like you could run forever and have to slow down for your last quarter mile or your pace will be too fast your an easy pace run.

187.8, down 0.5 lb
Goal for next week is to lose 1-1.5 lb, so 186.3 to 186.8 and I'll be happy.
Going eat 16/8, 11:30a - 7:30p, minimal cheese, alcohol, and sweets, only good carbs.
Workouts are
Sat: 5 mi easy,
Sun: 30-min cross-training
Mon: 3 mi easy
Tue: 30-min tempo
Wed: 3 mi
Thu: rest
Fri: 3 mi pace
Will also try to do some walking with Mindy. May also try for a strength training lesson from a coworker, we'll see.
But none on this should get in the way of eating for weight loss.
