Unpopular Opinion (being a brave beaver saying this)âŚ
I donât forgive Patton.
Sorry not sorry that end card didnât make me go âawwwâ as it was intended.
Patton has made too many of the same mistakes for too long. His treatment of Deceit was soâŚgross that I couldnât stomach his âsweetâ reply. All of his condensation, shunning, and villainizing of him likeâŚno. You did not earn that moment, Patton. I donât care how guilty he felt. That scene didnât make up for shit.
Pattonâs badgering of Roman to give up something that he knew really mattered to him and acting all cheery as if Roman isnât visiably miserable beside him. Him not allowing Roman to say a thing to Virgil while letting him bully Roman all he wants.
Pattonâs infantilization of Virgil, disrespect of his boundaries, and whining when he wonât allow him to show him love his way.
Patton with LoganâŚhoooo booooy! This fucking laundry list is justâŚI canât-
But Iâll only say this: Him literally pushing Logan (Deceit?) away when he responded in a way he didnât like. He physically booted him out of the conversation and acted as if everything was chill when Logan came back (like he always does). JustâŚI wanna strangle him, no joke.
Oh, yeah. He also assaulted Thomas. âŚ..Thatâs nice.
Yaâll can forgive him if you want to, I have no issue with that. But personally I canât. Heâs done too many shitty things for me to even be on a neutral ground with him anymore. He isnât even my least favorite Side. Itâs Remus. But maaaaaan is he looking like his potential replacement lately.
I want to forgive Virgil because heâs my favorite (though Deceit is threatening that) butâŚ.itâll take ALOT. I hope he grows, I do. But youâre on thin, thin ice, boy.Â

I love this~
Headcanon that all the Darks can turn their heads 360 degrees. Just a cute little quirk all of them naturally share. Light Sides donât know about this because they just refuse to do it around them cause they know theyâd react negatively to it. Kind of a âkeep it in the Dark Side unless necessaryâ rule. So imagine this gem:
Patton, surprise surprise, is deciding to be a dick again. He sees Deceit walk by with one of his âunderlingsâ as he so delicately calls them. Dee tells him to wait right there while he goes to get something off a shelf. Their backs are turned. The other Dark Side is standing near the door that separates the two mind palaces. Patton huffs in irritation at seeing them crawling around his home again. So he quietly marches over to the unsuspecting Dark Side, fully intent on grabbing him by the collar and throwing him out or hitting him until he tries to run. But before he can fully lift his arm, Deceit turns his head all the way around without moving the rest of his body, eyes glowing yellow, snake fangs elongated, and his tempest tongue bleeding into his speech.
âSo much as attempt to do that and you wonât live to see the next sunrise.â
The look of horror on his face is priceless.
On a more comedic note, imagine this:Â
Virgil just asking Roman a question but subconciously uses his head turn as a force of habit as the prince walks behind him while heâs on the couch.
âHey, Roman do you- stop screaming- do you want Chinese?â

Janus is actually pertrified of snakes. patton loves them to death. so Patton finds out and he mocks janus for his scales causing a panic attack and he just...locks himself in his room. for four months. when he comes out, his face is all scar tissue where the scales once were. and his fear of snakes is gone. now he fears patton. ((could you please write this for me? i dont have much writing skill myself and i would actually internally die you wrote this for me. you dont have to i promise-))
ive been wanting to do something like this and i finally have an excuse too awawaa,,, also plz dont die and fun fact u should write whatever u want. just have fun with it ^^ writing just takes practice
TW: U!Patton, physical abuse, verbal abuse, implied suicidal thoughts, scars, scalpel, implied/referenced panic attacks, cutting someone, crying, loss of breathe, weapons, slight victim blaming, let me know of other things to tag !
"I'll cut your little heart out 'cause you made me cry"
Janus was reserved as he knew any sign of weakness would be used against him. He knew how predators would hunt down its prey till the small creature is too weak to run then the beast would pounce on it and uses everything it had on the poor thing. The deceitful side isn't aware of how Patton learns of his fear of snakes, but whatever mistake he made to let the information be known to the fatherly side would haunt him for the rest of his life.
Patton is cruel and revolting. He for being the moral side shows no moral code to his treatment of dark sides. It isn't a hidden secret but the more inhuman things Patton does is only for Janus to witness and bare. Janus despised this burden; the constantly forced to deal with his fear until he passes out from hyperventilation and continuously forcing himself to drag himself to the bathroom to heal the ripped off scales made him unbearably fatigued. It had been two months and Janus lost hope one month ago. Any form of begging or pleading was disregarded like trash so he stayed silent allowing for the moral side to play with him like a doll.
The snake side grudgingly wakes up depleted. He's only been awake for a few seconds and his mind is already begging for him to just let go. Perhaps then it would be easier than dealing with Patton. Janus shakes his head and gently placed a gloved hand over his eye, a small depressing smile forming as he recalls the only semblance of himself he was allowed to keep were his gloves. Janus pushes himself and a prominent weight of fatigue that crashes into him which causes him to stumble. He uses the wall to hold himself up while he trudges to the bathroom. He opens the sink and looks at the mirror grimacing at the reflection that made his stomach turn. Janus's face was much paler, frailer, and fewer scales. He gently swifts over the scars feeling the dry patch of healing skin. He feels filthy.
Janus isn't sure when he went back to bed, time was lost in this small, cold, empty room. The deceitful side unintentionally jumps at the sound of the door clicking. He internally hopes that it's another side but he should have realized there was no hope. The smile on Patton's face sends shiver's down Janus's spine.
"Evening Janus!" Patton smiles," hope you're having a good day, mines been tiring."
Janus doesn't speak he's learned not to.
"Ever since you've been gone Logan been more annoying! I love Logie but ugh, he just needs to shut up! He keeps trying to logic every situation as if he knows anything, perhaps a stay in here for a bit would teach him better," Patton says lowly with a maddening smile.
"Don't!" Janus utters," do bring Logan into this room."
Patton turns to face him with a shocked yet intrigued expression. He slowly moves to sit on the other bed and looks at the sheets as he spoke with venom," you know, Logan does ask about you a lot. I've told him you had a panic attack and chose to stay inside. He thinks Thomas being more honest is a bad idea, but what does he know."
 "More than you," Janus hissed.
 "Excuse me?" Patton replied.
Janus throws his gloved hands over his mouth as he internally curses. Patton being pissed was an understatement. His eyes burned with fury yet the calm exterior terrified Janus. He knew it'd be another terrible night.
 "Gloves off Janus," Patton muttered.
He did as he was told. Patton moved to one of the snake cages and took out a snake. Janus grimaces knowing that the snake had a texture that made him nauseous and it didn't help that the snake had venom. While he couldn't die he knew Patton would force Janus through the symptoms.
"I want you to pet him," Patton commands.
It's a simple command but Janus deeply wants to deny it.
"Please Patton, I'm sorry. I did mean to upset you please I cant-"
"You can and you will if you want to make sure Remus and Logan stay out of this room," Patton spat.
He hasn't even started touching the snake and he's already crying. Patton snickers as he watches shaky fingers pet the small reptile.
"Amusing that your fear of snakes makes you this emotional," Patton spoke as Janus pulls his hand away.
"I'm sorry I'm sorry please I've learned my lesson," Janus please through shaky breathe.
He can barely breathe and his vision is going in and out. Janus is sure he'll pass out soon and he wants too, he's so tired but he knows what'll happen if he does. Patton hums to show heâs thinking," hm, well I suppose you have learned your lesson but I'm not done yet kiddo."
Patton gets up gently putting away the snake and heads to the bathroom. Janus groans knowing what's coming next. Patton comes with a scalpel and wipes.
"Stay still or I'll cut you," Patton says with an innocent tone, but the words worked.
Janus was still while he cried. He was slightly depersonalizing but he knew he'd feel it all. Patton gently wipes the scales. Janus holds in a breath and closes his eyes as he feels cold metal latching onto his skin.
âââ
Janus's return is a shock to everyone. His empty eyes and healed skin is sight for sore eyes, and how he shivers in room temperature indicates how frail heâs become.
"Janus is back!" Patton says warmly, wrapping his arms around the deceitful side.
"Patton what did you do to Janus for the last four months," Logan questions terrified.
"I just helped him a bit! He doesn't like snakes so I fixed that fear for him!" Patton answers letting Janus go. Remus quickly grabs Janus away from the moral side, shocked to see Janus gripping onto Remus tightly.
"You ripped off his scales you monster!" Roman yelled drawing out his sword.
Patton just shrugs," he made upset so I taught him a lesson."
His smile sent shivers down everyone's spine.

sides do not need to eat or drink to survive as humans do, however to function at their best eating and staying hydrated is a must.
patton knows this and purposely makes sure certain sides arenât getting enough nutrition so that he has an excuse to berate them on their functionality efforts. and if it comes to the point where a side doesnât have enough energy and is unable to breath correctly or function at all he yells at them for not eating/drinking enough

Receipts for Pattonâs Toxic Behavior
THIS IS NOT A DISCOURSE POST AND I WONâT ANSWER DISCOURSE REBLOGGED HERE. THIS WAS MADE FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES. IF YOUâD LIKE TO DISCUSS IT WITH ME YOU CAN MESSAGE ME.
Iâve gotten people asking me how Patton has shown toxic behavior in the series so I decided to rewatch the series and collect receipts. Enjoy.
Because this whole discourse started after SvS, thatâs the episode Iâll be starting with (coupled with DWIT). However, after that, they will be in chronological order.
These behaviors have repeating evidence, so I just grouped the evidence together under (or rather, above) the topic to save a little space. Each new point (or receipt, I suppose) will be preceded by â)
Selfishness VS Selflessness & Dealing With Intrusive Thoughts
â (SVS; 2:11) T: âThe callback date is inflexible. P: *sigh* âSame as the wedding date.â T (unenthusiastically): âYeah.â P: âAnd Lee and Mary Lee really want you to be there.â T (unenthusiastically): âYeah.â P: âAnd theyâve always been there for you when you needed them.â T(unenthusiastically): âYeah.â P: *sigh* âAnd you were really excited to go, too.â T (hesitantly): âYeah.â
This kind of dialogue is very common in abusive and manipulative relationships. Am I saying Patton is abusive? No. Toxic behavior and abusive behavior are two different things; abusiveness has intent, toxicity has ignorance.
Anyways, during this exchange, Thomas isnât even trying to argue with Patton about going to the callback yet, and neither is Roman. All they did was tell Patton the date, and what is his go-to reaction? Guilt-tripping.Â
Guilt-tripping is a tactic used by many abusers to goad the abused into agreeing with them and/or doing what they want. It uses a specific manner of speaking, nitpicking at the things that are important to the abused (read: Thomasâ friendships) and playing to their weaknesses (read: not wanting to be seen as a bad friend. This point is further explored later in the post for another video). Heâs actively, albeit subconsciously, guilting Thomas into agreeing with him to go to the wedding without question.
â (SVS; 7:22) P: âAnd Roman, I thought you fought for honor! Why are you pushing Thomas to be dishonest?â
Here, Patton attacks Romanâs very character while guilt-tripping him. Iâll save post space by sparing the lengthy analysis of a behavior Iâve already discussed, but if you need me to go farther than this please message me and Iâll be happy to discuss.
Toxic Behavior: guilt-tripping (2)
â (SvS) Patton is also telling Thomas how he feels (âAnd you were really excited to go, too.â), something Deceit Logan points out not even five seconds later. This is another tactic used by abusers. Caught unawares of the potential manipulation, it can make the abused feel like the abuser understand and sympathizes with them, fostering trust in the beginning of a toxic relationship. However, in the way Patton is using it, it is used to strip the abused of their autonomy, essentially saying âthis is how you feel. I know it, and if you disagree with me youâre lying to yourself and being disobedientâ. Now again, is this how Patton means it specifically? Absolutely not, he isnât an abuser. But itâs a form of manipulation that canât go ignored.Â
Toxic Behavior: emotional manipulation (1)
â (SvS; 5:37) D:Â âWrong?â T (unenthusiatically) & P:Â âYeah.â P:Â âDeceit, standing in the spot of one of my four best friends.â
This is another common tactic of manipulation: discrediting. With a simple comment, Patton is attempting to get the other three in the room to instantaneously ignore/disbelieve anything that comes out of Deceitâs (his direct opposition) mouth just after Thomas has decided to tentatively trust him. He goes on to say, âBecause Thomas gave his word, but you wouldnât know anything about that, would you, mister?â This is just another example of the same; Patton is further trying to wedge distrust between Deceit and the others before Deceit can continue to make a valid argument.
â (SvS; 8:24) P: âBasically Deceit is trying to prove that you care more about yourself than your friends. But donât worry kiddo, weâll show him.â
This line is from the moment when they enter the courtroom. As anyone who has watched the video can tell you, that isnât what Deceit was trying to prove at all. He was just trying to show the main sides and Thomas that he isnât completely innocent like they love to pretend he is.
Toxic Behavior: discrediting/invalidating (2)
â (SvS; 6:43) P:Â âLying is bad enough! Lying to a friend is out of the question!â
Patton is speaking as an absolute authority here. His tone and words broker no discussion at all, not even from the side who literally represents lying, who (in my personal opinion) should be allowed to decide when lying is appropriate. A point I raise in a previous video (seen below the Read More) is that Patton is part of a whole, he should never be able to hold all of the power or claim the right to speak unopposed. Throughout the video he shows controlling tendencies such as these, unwilling to hear (or at least entertain) the opposing argument.Â
â (DWIT; 4:40) P: âIâm sorry, but I canât condone any more of that kind of thinking!â
While Patton may be morality, DWIT clearly showed that he isnât the best authority on judging the validity of a thought. Granted, as Logan explained, Pattonâs views are more than likely influenced by Thomasâ upbringing. Explanations are not excuses however, and this is still toxic behavior.
â (DWIT;Â 32:46) P:Â âItâs okay if you sometimes think some icky thoughts, Thomas. You have my permission.â
This one is⌠Strange and complicated. Firstly, because Patton starts off saying âthis may not be necessaryâ, so heâs aware that he shouldnât have the control he does. But, on the other hand, he still feels like he needs to say it, and it can be argued that that is because of himself and/or Thomas. So⌠This one is hard, but I still hold that it shouldnât have had to be said. Thomas shouldnât rely so heavily on Pattonâs approval.
Toxic Behavior: controlling tendencies (3)
â (SvS; 7:13) P:Â âWhat is this wacky talk? You donât mean this. Iâm your morality, I wouldnât be here if you did.â (anyone remember what a character lie sounds like?)
Iâve seen this video at least 4 times now, but this line always makes me take a shocked step back. The severity of Pattonâs reaction completely comes out of left field here. He hears Thomas trying to rationalize the opposing idea, and instead of trying to talk it out as he did in the past, he literally cuts off the conversation and tells Thomas how he thinks/feels. This is a classic abuser tactic, as stated above when I talked about the âexcitedâ line, wherein the abuser strips the abused of autonomy.
Toxic Behavior: invalidation/stripping one of their autonomy (1)
â (SvS; 29:52) D: ââŚActing in your own self interest.â P: âThatâs wrong!â
This isnât necessarily a âtoxic behaviorâ in the terms that Iâm outlining here in this post, but it is one that the fandom has been talking about since the video dropped: Pattonâs black-and-white views leading to Thomas neglecting himself over his friends. Patton said in The Mind VS. The Heart, [in response to Thomas saying he needs to make time for himself] âOh, of course! I never wanted you to feel like you couldnât!â, and Thomas later says in Growing Up, âI canât go moment to moment doing whatever you want me to doâ. These are fairly early videos in the series, and yet it seems that the lessons brought up in said videos were forgotten very quickly (especially since this will, hopefully, be the third time itâs being addressedâŚ). Patton has grown in many ways, but this seems to be the one lesson that wonât stick. In fact, if SvS showed us anything, itâs that Pattonâs gotten worse.Â
Toxic Behavior: self (or Base((since we arenât saying host anymore))) neglect (1)
â (DWIT; 18:11) P:Â âIs Thomas a bad person?â
This quote, coupled with a Toxic Behavior I address in a previous episode down below, actually shows a dangerous polarization of thought towards people called Idealization and Devaluation. Simply put, with this line of thinking, one views people as either perfect, sometimes near godly, or corrupt, dirty, rotten, not-worth-my-time, and there is no in between. With Pattonâs reoccurring question of âIs Thomas a bad person?â he shows evidence that this is the case; despite what he may say, he has only ever described Thomas and the other sides as a good/perfect person, or a Bad Person. Itâs a toxic mindset that can ruin relationships.
Toxic Behavior: devaluation (and idealization) (1)

Patton takes the others out for family walks. They are very long and usually involves a lot of activity. Virgil always tells Patton when his feet start hurting but he just tells him to deal with it, theyâre on bonding time. His feet get so bad itâs literally so difficult to walk and keep up. Patton equates it to Virgil just being emotionally distant and making excuses to trail from behind. And he tells him this, every time he stops participating and wants to take a break. His pain is so unbearable he often starts crying. The others are always trying to get Patton to stop forcing him to do this when it clearly hurts him this bad. But Patton throws a fit and whines every time the others take Virgilâs side (which is always, heâs in pain). He goes right for the âyou guys donât like spending time with family, why?â guilt-trip and the others know he wonât let up so they have to just deal with it until they get home. Each of the others takes turns looking after Virgil on their walks to make sure he doesnât collapse or has a full-on breakdown. They sometimes have to resort to the piggyback method just to keep him with them, not lost or curling up on the ground. Patton gives them the stink eye and makes snide comments whenever they have to carry him but mostly says nothing since Virgil is there with them and thatâs all that matters to him. They fight about the situation all the time at home because Patton insists this wonât affect his health at all.
Until one day, Virgilâs out with his new friend (crush)  and he stops in the middle of their walk together. When he asks why he was stopping, Virgil with the most strangled voice said, âI-âŚ..I-I canât moveâŚâ
Virgil ends up being carried home by his friend, having him call the others and dealing with their panicked voices over the phone, heâs immediately brought to his room on sight. Theyâre all there, including Deceit and Remus. (They arenât âallowedâ on family walks. Guess whoâs idea that was.) Theyâre all comforting him and trying to get him to stop sobbing. But he canât. Heâs in so much pain. Everyone just wants him to be alright. Then Patton speaks up.
With the sweetest, adoring voice, the moral side strokes his hair and utters with a smile,  âSee what happens when you donât allow yourself to open up, Virgil? Consider this punishment for faking a problem to get out of family time.â
The others are seething.

Just saw a post saying no one ever apologises to Patton, and... are we watching the same series?
Because Iâm pretty sure Logan does. Quite a lot, actually. In Growing Up, if Iâm remembering correctly, he sure did. He and Patton happily compromised in MvH. In POF, when he accidentally hit Patton with the textbox, he immediately apologised. And of course, we all remember the gift of the cat hoodie that Logan used to apologise and make it up to Patton in Moving On.
And, actually since Moving On, I think heâs actually been very nice to Patton (even if Patton isnât always the nicest back. In fact, heâs been quite a bit of a dick to him, especially in POF). Even when Patton was at fault in DWIT, Logan was considerate as he talked through what Patton could do better. I find it harsh to call out all the sides for not apologising to Patton for things when Logan has nothing to apologise for (and I guess neither does Roman since Roman never really says bad stuff about Patton, not even during his breakdown at the end of POF. In fact, the black and white morality that Patton pushed for so long is what caused Roman to have this reaction to Janusâ acceptance, so...)
I feel, sometimes, some people in this fandom can paint canon Logan as a bit more of an asshole than he actually is. Just because he can be rather blunt and puts logic before emotions doesnât mean heâs heartless. Iâve said it before and Iâll say it again: he seems to apologise the most out of the sides. And even though he doesnât like being wrong, when he is and realises it, he apologises, and makes an effort to do better without needing to be told twice.
I mean, just look at LNTAO. He learns that âunconventionalâ means of learning are just as useful and effective as conventional ones. A lesson he clearly holds on to, since he utilises the unconventional video game theme in POF.
Logan cares about his family and wants them to be happy. As of now, heâs probably the side on best terms with all of the others (well, he would be if they werenât all mean to him for no reason). Heâs not perfect of course, none of the sides are, but I donât think not apologising is one of his flaws.
Patton does not deserve an apology from Logan. But Logan sure as hell deserves one from him.
