It's been a while since I've made any pendants, so I thought I'd create some in between my larger projects. I've decided to make more little cherry blossom tapir pendants! I'll be posting tiny dragon and capybara pendants soon.
They're all available in my shop <3

WIP
Hello! I recently posted about how I plan my sculptures- how I often don't plan my sculptures. I wanted to share my project with no set plan.
I have a few ideas I'd like to express through the sculpture and a general sense of what I want the finished piece to look like. But beyond that, everything is undecided and changeable! I don't know what kind of texture it will have; or what the finer details will be.
Right now, I'm just playing around with the clay and seeing where it takes me.

I've been asked how I plan my sculptures, but to be honest, I usually don't plan much. When I get an idea for a sculpture, I'll start working on it and see where it takes me. Sometimes the original idea will change and evolve as I work on it, which can be exciting and troublesome.
If I'm making a fictional creature, I plan almost nothing. Sometimes I'll refer to a sketch I've made, like the one shown in the photos. Someone wanted a dragon, but didn't have any instruction beyond that, so I based their sculpture on their favorite of my dragon sketches. She still evolved to have a larger head, a softer expression, and a shortened tail. For non-fictional animals, I'll put some effort into getting the anatomy right.
I'm not the most organized artist out there, so I don't have a lot of advice to offer in that regard! For those interested, I may do a post in the future showing how I make animal bodies.

Mixed media sculpture of a playful red salamander. Pseudotriton ruber is a species of lungless salamander native to eastern North America.
I did my best to to create an element of playfulness. I wanted them to seem playful, happy, and without a care.
The Salamander sculpture is available for sale here.

A few years ago, I learned that coyotes climb fruit trees and eat the fruit. I’ve wondered if they dream of apples when they see the apple blossoms.
A mixed media sculpture featuring a coyote daydreaming of climbing an apple tree. The dream branches out from a blooming apple branch.
The sculpture is available here.

Red dice dragon commission
I had a lot of creative freedom when making her, and I hurt myself with it. She's a lot more detailed than intended, and it took a painful amount of time to bring her to life. I'm happy with how she's turned out, so I can't regret the process too much.
Commissions are now open. Feel free to message me for more information.

Blue from Jurassic World.
She's a mixed media sculpture, sculpted from various clays and epoxy over a metal armature. Blue has been painted with acrylics and sealed with a matte varnish. The eyes are glossed to give them a life-like shine. The sculpture is signed.
Blue is available for sale. Go here to get Blue. : : : : She's finally done<3

Here’s Blue from Jurassic World
She’s almost done! I’ve got a couple of things to touch up, and then I’ll be taking more photos. She should be up for sale in a couple of days.
I almost want to keep her. This is a first for me- I’ve never been tempted to keep something I’ve made before.

Blue WIP One of things I've really enjoyed about working on Blue is that I've had to learn new skills. I've rarely ever done flowers in clay and I'm never satisfied with how they turn out. For Blue, I needed flowers I was happy with. So I sat down and made many different flowers in many different ways until they started to look like this. For now, I'm happy with these.

WIP Blue the Velociraptor from Jurassic World
I’ve been excited for the new Jurassic World movie, so I decided to make Blue. Here’s what I’ve been working on for the past month. This has been such a long project. For what I have in mind, there’s still so much more to do.
One thing I love about making Blue, is that I get to play around with cold porcelain. Making the little flowers out of it has been one of the highlights.
