For those who feel hopeless because the GOP is targeting trans people and people who can give birth so heavily recently, here's a bit of hope:

They're losing. In the most recent midterms of 2022, they expected a red wave and got a puddle, even having some red states gain blue governors for the first time. Midterms historically have low voter turnout than the presidential elections.

People are angry. People want change. People are sick and tired of them focusing so heavily on trans people and abortion instead of more important issues like immigration, climate change, or our economy/standard of living.

They are butting into issues the average person does not care that much about, and losing potential votes for it. There have been Republicans who have suggested raising the voting age to 21 or 25 (which would be hard to do because it is an amendment, and the reason it was lowered to 18 in the first place is because people could be sent off to war before they could vote).

This is because they are scared of young voters, who are historically more left and are already voting more comparatively while having recently become old enough to vote. (This includes me, who was 18 during the 2022 election, and who voted.)

They want you to feel hopeless, like it's better just to give up, because when people don't vote at all it's a vote for them, because old people are a consistent voting block, are probably Republican, and most of them are retired (aka. have a lot of free time).

Fight back. Show up to the polls angry. Vote blue. Democrats have their issues sure, but the emerging pattern is if you don't vote for them things will only get worse.

This is especially because there is evidence of them wanting to remain in power through extreme measures, and wanting to turn the country into a fascist dictatorship where they always win (project 2025).

Don't let them. Show up and show them you're sick of their shit and won't back down.

Your. Vote. Matters.

the problem with not voting in order to send the message that you hate all the candidates and the entire system and therefore refuse to participate is that it's completely indistinguishable, as a signal, from not bothering to vote because you think the system is great and all the candidates are great and you'd be fine with any of them. so you might want to rethink the strategy there

I personally think that if you thought you were transgender and then discovered you weren't, then that's ok because you still discovered yourself.

Just please don't be like "trans people are evil, fuck trans people."

I wouldn't be surprised if most of this is caused by the invention of the Internet. With so much information at someone's fingertips (literally), it's easier for people to get educated, even if they had a shitty school education.

Educated voters tend to not vote right-wing, which threatens the foundation of Republican political strategy to rely on the poorly educated.

So their recent strategy has been one of desperate finger pointing and blaming a minority group (transgender people) for the decline of America, and at the same time making the country decline by taking away rights of women/those assigned female at birth, children, transgender individuals, and attempting to stifle the education of the next generation through CRT banning and book banning.

The myth of white superiority is a right wing house of cards.

Assuming that is information is correct that would mean that would mean that in four months almost 5% of the population or ONE in TWENTY-TWO people have been killed, maimed, or are missing.

it is vile that the same people who would say that perisex trans people, (trans ADULTS mind you, with a very slim minority being 16 or 17) shouldn't have gender affirming surgery, but then would be ok with literally mutilating and traumatizing an intersex child so they fit into their neat little gender boxes and they don't have to acknowledge there's more than just XX and XY for sexes because they want to erase the others to the best of their ability

ffs people should just leave intersex babies alone if there's no legitimate health concerns (ex. trouble peeing) and let them choose the puberty they want

and obviously the health concerns shouldn't be an excuse to just unnecessarily remove healthy genitals
