DIY SALT CLAY
1(I’m sure there’s a post like this out there already but here it is)------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Ok so Salt Clay/Dough is pretty much like Play-Doh but it’s softer, cheaper, and if you’re someone who likes to use things with not many ingredients, this is  great alternative!
What You’ll Need:
Water
Flour
Salt (any will do)
Medium/Large Bowl
Baby Powder (optional, but if you find that your dough is too sticky you’ll want to knead some in or dust your work space with it)
Essential Oils (optional, but nice for fragrance)
Food Dye (optional, but an alternative to painting your sculpture/figure after it has dried).
Step 1: Pour 1 1/2 cups of flour and 1/2 cup of salt into your bowl. Slowly mix in 1 cup of water until you are happy with the consistency. If you find your dough too sticky, you can:
Add more flour
Add baby powder
Add more salt
Put it in the freezer for 30-45 minutes
Step 2: Start shaping your dough. NOTE: if you’re sculpting something larger, use some wet newspaper as filler. Not only will it dry faster, but you’ll use less clay and it will be lighter.
Step 3:DRYING OPTIONS
Oven: Set to 180 degrees, let bake for 30-45 minutes (depending on the thickness of your sculpture.
Air Dry: Leave out in a sunny spot, should take 1-2 weeks to dry.
Microwave: Place on a microwave safe surface, microwave on high for 7-8 minutes, checking on it every 3 minutes.
Step 4: Once cooled, paint your sculpture using acrylic paints, let dry.
TIPS
Getting Frustrated? Take a break for 30-60 minutes.
Dough Gone Hard? Throw it in the microwave for 2-4 minutes.
Dough Stuck To Your Hands? Use hand sanitizer.
(Hope this helps!)
NOTE: NOT FOR CONSUMPTION
