Cape Blanco, Bover, Fear & Green Mountain State
(three more unidentified)
Mothball Fleet or Reserve Fleet of the Merchant Marines in Suisun Bay, near the mouth of the Sacramento river. Most likely these are gone now as this was taken in 2016. The bay once housed over 2000 ships. In my younger years the ships stretched up the bay as far as the eye could see.
Controversial in recent years as the ships decayed due to toxic paints breaking down and polluting the Bays waters.

Yoram Gal (artist)
I posted two photos from a herd of Elk grazing near our home on my Tumblr and Facebook pages at the same time this past week.
The latest photograph (titled "Elk Herd") featured about 15 elk (a portion of the herd) grazing along the canal in the snow near dusk.
A well known Israeli Artist named Yoram Gal follows my photography on Facebook as I have followed his art and we actually own two watercolors and an oil painting of his that we purchased here in the USA. Yoram is now pretty well known here, enough so that he regularly shows his works at some well travelled art shows here and around the country.
So much for the back story.
Yesterday Yoram, wrote a comment on my fb post featuring "Elk Herd". His comment praised the photo and asked me if i would give my consent for him to use the photo as inspiration of a possible future work of art that he is considering to create. Of course I consented and asked only that if he does actually paint a rendition of it that he would send me the photo of the finished piece to which he readily agreed!
If he does actually follow through and paints the herd then I might have to pony up and buy it (if I can afford it) as his popularity in the US and elsewhere has grown considerably!
I only share this story because any recognition (even on fb or tumblr) of my photography puts a smile on my face...and motivates me to continue taking and posting my photography!
Now nearing age 71 (March bday) a little recognition goes a long way in keeping me active and keeps me taking photos and sharing them on tumblr and fb!
Hopefully some of you can relate!

Elk Herd
Taken near dusk, this is the first time in 4 years, we've been here in Loveland, that I have seen this large (photo captured about 1/2 of the herd) of a herd of elk, this close to the homes along the canal. Our home is less than a block away from where this was taken.
We've had bear sightings nearby even a moose or two and lots of migrating geese but never a large herd this close to homes.

These were just a few of a 30 or 40 head herd of Elk grazing across the flood control canal near our home in Loveland late this evening.

If you need to scream, scream loudly today. Scream loud enough that someone can hear you and find comfort in hearing your scream, because that's how they feel too.

the grand romance
Built by the Barker family in Fort Bragg, CA in 1990. Debut in 1993 as the Petaluma Queen in 1993 on the Petaluma River.
Relocated to Napa, then Vallejo and then Long Beach in 2021. After a history of problems and run-ins with State and local officials moved back to Norcal just north of the Cal Maritime campus.
Been sitting and rotting ever since and pretty much gutted by fire and now lies partially sunken in the Bay.
