When in Davao (Part III)
For Day 3, our next itinerary is in Samal Island. The three of us experienced body pain from our Water Rafting Adventure but it can’t stops us going to one of the most highlighted event of our trip. This is also our last day in Avida Towers and we hurriedly headed next in Sta Ana Wharf Port after we checked out.
We decided to go in Talicud Island which is also part of Samal Island since we are longing for a cozy and less crowded place. We ride on a boat around 9:00 am and the island is only 45 minutes away from Davao City which cost Php 180 per person. From there, they dropped us in Isla Reta Beach Resort but we still followed our itinerary to stay in Dayang Beach Resort. We need to ride first on a Habal motorcycle going there for Php 150 each since we brought also our baggages.
All our travels is worth it because of the jaw dropping view of the resort especially their white sand. It’s so tranquil and relaxing which reached our expectation. We chose to stay in their single huts which is Php 2,000 good for three persons. It has two beds (one double bed and one single bed), comfort room, and a balcony. They also have a reception area where you can dine for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
I suggest, if you want to book in Dayang Beach Resort — you must bring your own mineral water and foods to lessen your expense. Also, they doesn’t have direct water in shower/comfort room but they deliver gallons of water if you need for free. At night, there are instances of brownout due to shortage of electricity but it’s totally fine for us because the island helped us to release our stress. You can also connect with your family and friends; and stay updated with your social media accounts in the resort.
The next day, we waited for a boat again going back to the city. It is also our last day in Davao and we had our lunch in Dencia’s Restaurant to feed our hungry tummies. Also, before going back to Manila we make sure to buy pasalubong for our families and friends in Lola Abon’s and Apo ni Lola Durian Delicacies.
Our four day stay in Davao is very remarkable since it’s been so long since we had our vacation. Ofcourse, we enjoyed the sight, foods, culture and the warm welcome of Davaoeños on their visitors. Also, I was given a chance to spend time again with my travel buddies and good friends. I can’t wait to have another escapade and explore again the hidden paradise of our country!

When in Davao (Part II)
Night life in Davao is waving to us! But, before that we went first in Jack’s Ridge Resort and Restaurant to witness the astonishing sunset view of the city. It is 20-minute drive from Avida Towers and a one stop shop place since it has — restaurants, coffee shop, souvenir shop, playground, bar, KTV, and etc.
We tried to taste the famous Durian coffee and frappe in Karlo’s Gourmet and Coffee. We also bought three flavours of their cakes. From there, we enjoyed our girls talk and vacation while watching — the breathtaking sight and fresh air of the place since we were seated outside of the shop. Ofcourse, we never missed the chance to took a lot of OOTDs photos and Instagrammable shots for our feeds.
After our coffee date, we headed next to Matina Town Square for our dinner. This is well-known for its outdoor bars and food joints where the busy people from Davao and its Tourist can unwind. But, we just only decided not to drink there and just enjoy the dishes.
Before we end our night, we never forgot to have a good time in The BEEReaucracy Bar in Polo St. Poblacion. There are a lot of choices of bars in the street but we decided to stay in BEEReaucracy because of its modifying vibes and setting.

When in Davao (Part I)
The long wait is over! After four months of planning for our flight, itinerary, activities, and OOTD’s — we made our Davao escapade a blast and extraordinary!
It was planned first by Rhica and Mel who are my friends and former division teammates. They just invited me to join them and without hesitation I booked a flight too. Rhica arrived earlier in Davao while Me and Mel landed around six in the evening — and went straight in Avida Towers where we checked in. This is the cheapest condo unit for staycation that we saw through Airbnb. For only Php 2,500 we enjoyed our three days and two nights of winding down in the city before going to Samal Island.
We went first in Roxas Night Market for our dinner and it is only a five-minute walk from Avida Towers. Upon entering, we’re all delighted to witness different budget-friendly and fresh cuisines from Davao. We have a lot of choices where to eat — from dishes, grill foods, seafoods, appetizers, desserts, and etc. We chose to dine in Chan-Chan BBQ and guess what? We only spent Php 350 and our hungry tummies were satisfied!
Ofcourse, we tried their famous Durian Shake and it doesn’t taste bad as we have thought. After exploring their famous Night Market, we decided to go back in condo and take a rest since we have a lot of activities for the next day.
For our second day, we woke up early for our Davao River White Water Rafting adventure! Around seven in the morning, we went straight in Base Camp office (Philippine Red Cross Building) near Marco Polo which is also a five minute walk from our unit. Believe it or not, we made a last minute booking! And supposedly, we need to pay Php 7,500 for our Water Rafting adventure but because we never reach the maximum of five joiners — they gave us a Php 500 discount. The package includes gears, river guide, transportation going to the river and vice versa, photo and video documentation, and lunch.
We met Kuya Jack, who is also our contact person and tour guide for this venture. He first asked us to read and sign the waiver; and he elucidate to us the pros and cons on doing water rafting. Also, on what should we expect. We are totally terrified and anxious during his introduction and while watching the video clips from the said activity. But ofcourse, we want to face our fears and rejoice our vacation leave. The more the risk, the more it would be fun!
It is a one-hour drive going to the Davao River from the city. While on our way, Kuya Jack introduces to us — Kuya Cookie, our photographer and videographer; and another companion/tour guide which I forgot the name. As we arrived, we left our things in the jeepney so we could begin the brief training and most-awaited activity. We started around nine in the morning and our estimated finish time is twelve in the afternoon since it is a 13 KMs of rafting.
First, he taught us on how to wear the gears, the proper way of floating and saving in case someone will fall, 5 steps in paddling, and etc. Then, our expedition starts! Actually, I was really excitable and jumpy the whole journey! I was just praying not to plunge in the river because I can’t swim and the wave is spine-chilling. We need to survive on the twenty (more or less) rapids so we make sure to follow all the instructions of Kuya Jack.
Everytime that we surpass the rapids we really feel relieved since we did not sink in the river waves. All our agonize were ease due to the fun that we experience; and we surprisingly, find ourselves longing for more! We also never notice that we already finished the three hour rafting. Thanks to our Tour Guides, who made our activity very enjoyable with their witty jokes and talk.
Also, they provide a box of lunch and drinks for us. Then, we headed back in their office so we could copy all the images and videos.

#BackyardCheeseburger at Pound x Flatterie
My hungry tummy and cravings for burger was sufficed because of this newest branch of Pound x Flatterie in Greenbelt 3 Makati. I’m really a big fan of pizza, pasta, sweets especially chocolates, and burgers so this is a right place for me to go since they caters all my favorite foods; and the ambiance is very cozy and unique.
I was exhausted and ravenous from work when I decided to drop by in this diner. I badly wanted to try their burger and according to the female who assisted me — the #BackyardCheeseburger is a must try. Aside from burger it also consists of fries and iced tea for only Php 280. Though, I wanted also to order their other cuisines but I stopped myself becuase I think it’s enough and that menu will satisfy my empty stomach.
The #BackyardCheeseburger has a complete package of House Ground Beef Patty, Cheddar Cheese, Iceberg Lettuce, Tomato, and Onion. This is really mouthwatering for me because of how esthetic it tastes. They also asked me if I want medium or thick cook for my patty — and I suggest to make it medium so I could slice and chew it easily.
While, for the fries, I was a little disappointed because it did not reach my expectation. I was looking for something unusual and flavorful. Sadly, I did not finish eating it because it is too salty and not good for my health.
Never the less, aside from #BackyardCheeseburger — I admire the black and white checkered floors, dim lightings, table sets, couches, utensils, bar corner, and the overall design of the place. The atmosphere gives me a Europian feels which adds piquancy in the food. Even if you are alone you could enjoy eating in Pound x Flatterie.
