UFC 245 AfterMMAth (Legends And Other Animals)
#UFC245 made true on its promise and gave us drama, action, title changing hands, others defended and was all kinds of fun. How did my predictions go? and what can Colby learn from Aldo and Max? check it out.
After the last Pay-Per-view event featured a BS Title fight and before the one that will feature a non-title fight, we all gathered to watch a card featuring not one or two, but three title bouts. The end of year (and decade) PPV outing was one of the most anticipated ones, and it did not disappoint. Let’s jump right to my picks. Then, we’ll chat about this, that and the other.

UFC 244 AfterMMAth (The Bullshit Middle Finger Belt Edition)
The Baddest AfterMMAth on the planet? Check out the #UFC244 rundown and picks. Focus on the rundown, the predictions were way off lol
This corner of cyberspace was on a little hiatus, due to… well, stuff. Lucky me too, as otherwise, I’d have to be writing post after post about, yet another one of my favorites losing badly. So welcome back, one and all. Today’s AfterMMAth is the BMF (Bullshit Middle Finger) edition. Expect fireworks, President Trump, and all kinds of shenanigans. Let’s jump right to my picks. Then, we’ll chat…

Let Me Explain This To You...
I #amwriting and always fight with this question. Let me know if you do too, and what is your method?
A funny meme came up on my Facebook page the other day. It depicted a conversation between a doctor and a woman. The doctor informed her that her husband’s status is stable, and that he is currently in the recovery room. The woman replies “Well, I warned him that the floor was wet and he stepped on it anyway”. To this, the doctor responded, “This doesn’t explain the bullet in his skull.” and the…

UFC 241 AfterMMAth (Blood, Sweat and so many tears)
#UFC241 was a mixed bag. Great fights, one very disappointing result (for me) and those picks... OUCH. Read it and weep (if you're a DC fan like I am...) in this #AfterMMAth
I don’t feel like writing a full piece on this event. Why? It would just make me re-live that sad moment at the end. Not to mention… those picks. But, We’re here to talk MMA and not wollow in our pain, so… Let’s jump right to my picks. Then, we’ll chat about this, that and the other.

Words Are Cheap, Shut Up And Dance
Does trash talk translate into popularity, impact, sales in #MMA ? Can we draw some conclusions from looking at some trash talkers and best sellers? I think so. Let me know what you think. Have any example for the contrary? in support? Share it.
I’ve made my opinion clear, regarding the differences between WWE/Pro-Wrestling and MMAand where each one should live. We talked a lot about the role of trash-talk in the hyping up of fights, and PPV sales generation. But we didn’t look hard enough at, how effective trash talk was through the years, and more importantly in the present. So, I decided to see what is the correlation between: The…

Did You Hear The One About Robert Silverberg, Georges St. Pierre And Chris Cornell?
Some lessons might be learned from one form of #art and be applied on another. Don't believe me? Check this out. #amwriting #MMA #Music
Ogres may be like onions, but so are we, people. You know – Layers. Our lives unfold (at least without the persuasion of Alcohol of other un-inhibitor agents) slowly, as we get to know each other. We introduce ourselves by name, sometimes by country of origin, our profession, family situation, and other generalities. As our connection to each other deepens, more layers may shed, and we talk about…

UFC 240 AfterMMAth (Why Do They Hate Canada?)
UFC 240 AfterMMAth (Why Do They Hate Canada?)
How uninteresting was UFC240? How unexcited were we in the week leading to the event? I think the fact that we discussed the next Fight Night, Lawler/Covington and the state of the wonderful WW division in general, more than the upcoming PPV says it all. Canada gave the UFC Georges St. Pierre, and UFC gave Canada the middle finger… Why? Canadians are awesome people! I know that from experience.…

UFC 239 AfterMMAth (Underdogs And Other Dogs)
Vegas odds are odd, Jon Jones is goat? Amanda Nunes is! What a fantastic PPV #UFC239 was. Were my picks as great?... All of these and a couple more fightspeak in this #AfterMMAth
How many times, did we wait, impatiently for a hyped up event, like UFC 239 only to have it end with a relative disappointment? All those missed weights, last minute injuries, not to mention judges “contribution” and post fights shenanigans… And 239 had Jon Jones at the top… scary prospect… But all the stars aligned, everyone showed up and I think the word to use, to describe this event as a…

UFC 238 AftreMMAth (Two Eyes, One Nose, One Big Mouth)
It was a fun night of fights in Chicago, full of action and shenanigans. It's all here in the #AfterMMAth
For the longest time, UFC 238 flew right under my radar. That was until they announced Cowboy Vs. Ferguson. This fight was scheduled to “save a dull card” apparently. So, I went and looked at the scheduled fights and realized that, although “The People’s Main Event” will certainly bring the buzz to Chicago, the card is full of gems as it is. I thoroughly enjoyed it for the most part. Alright,…

UFC 237 AfterMMAth (Pulling Triggers)
Some triggers were pulled, some triggers were not. A belt was won, a figher got very close to getting another. Joy and disappointment filled this fun card. and how did I do with my picks? It's all here in the #UFC237 #AfterMMAth
UFC237 was another card that over delivered, for the lack of general enthusiasm among MMA fans. It featured 7 finishes in 12 fights, and for the most part was a fun watch. Alright, let’s jump right to my picks. Then, we’ll chat about this, that and the other.

UFC 236 AfterMMAth (Who-Knows-Fights)
#UFC236 was a good card with a lot of Who-Knows strewn through it. Extremely entertaining top fights, and some things to start getting excited about. All in this #AfterMMAth
When Joe Rogan screamed the pre-PPV hype, next to Anik and Cormier, he dubbed the Co-Main and Main event of UFC236 “Who knows fights”. That was true. Who knew? Well, some of us thought we did, but even those of us who called the right score, would admit it wasn’t a lock. For my part, I can say that all the main card fights were kind of “Who knows?” Let me put in a bit of, badly written,…

No Conflict, No Story (Sad But True)
We haven't talked about #writing in quite some time, and since I'm a little stuck, I thought it would be a good idea to flesh out some writer-ly issues with the big one #conflict #amwriting #amreading
Boy, we haven’t done one of these in a long while. Those of you who stuck around (got stuck) with me for a while might know that this here blog started, not as the MMA ramble-store (with seemingly random cultural commentary) it is now, but as a place for me, to flesh out my writing process, to air my dirty writing laundry and make some forward progress on that front. With time, things have…

UFC 235 AfterMMAth (There Are Levels To This Game)
There are levels to this game. #UFC235 was a good example for this DC quote. How badly did my picks go? You'll only know if you read the #AfterMMAths
So the super card is behind us. Miraculously, everyone (significant) made weight, all showed up, and even Jones came up positive on only 2 out of 5 what-have-yas and it was of course a pulse, so don’t worry. It was going to be the best card of the year, and while it was good, I allow myself to speculate that we have not seen the best 2019 card yet. But, I’m a little ahead of myself here. Alright,…

UFC 234 AfterMMAth (Gut Shot)
#UFC234 was not a stellar card. This #AfterMMAth post is not stellar, but I hope you will still enjoy reading. Hell, it's not even on PPV.
Just around my 35th birthday, I felt some pain in my lower abdomen. I let it go for a bit, thinking (wishing really) that it was just some cramps. When it became apparent it was not, I went to the doctor, from there a quick ultrasound test, and the following day I was under the knife. Yup, a hernia is not fun. I could feel a little balloon swell momentarily every time I coughed. Not to mention…

UFC 232 AfterMMAth (2 Goats In LA)
2 Goats walk into LA. Know that one? tons of pre-event shenanigans, were the setting for a fun PPV with all the makings of a great show. Read all about it here.
UFC232 turned out to be greater than the sum of its shenanigans. It featured thirteen fights, only three of which went the distance. Upsets, KOs and submissions galore. What more can one ask for? Alright, let’s jump right to my picks. Then, we’ll chat about this, that and the other.

UFC 231 AfterMMAth (Blessed Are MMA Fans)
It was a #Blessed night for Max Holloway and #Team Shevchenko. Check out the #UFC231 #AfterMMAth
UFC231 cemented itself (top to bottom) as a leading candidate for card of the year. The prelims were fast and furious, the main card started (and ended) with a bang, and we got some stuff to reflect on in this AfterMMAth. Alright, let’s jump right to my picks. Then, we’ll chat about this, that and the other.
