Ok do y'all want to know what I'm tired of?
Mafia AUs
I'm just so tired of people romanticizing something so hurtful and that is the fucking curse of my country. People need to fucking learn that mafia kills, mafia hurts, and that all those people who died and suffered because of it would fucking throw up in your fucking face. Mafia it's not "uwu, my big bossy dominant super rich boyfriend is so strong" it's more like "my family and all my town can't fucking live peacefully because of these bosses" it's more like "my country is so corrupted by these guys that it's impossible to live in. Politics, schools, public jobs, are corrupted by it"
Can y'all just fucking educate yourself?? Bc it's seriously SO IRRITATING learning so much at school and also outside of school about it, and then seeing it so fucking romanticized on the internet.
Just stop. It's disgusting.
And I'm also leaving here some people that fought against it in case someone wants to know more
Giovanni Falcone e Paolo Borsellino

Giuseppe Impastato

Rita Atria

These are just the most famous ones, so please, learn at least their story

In a near future I'll visit the Caravaggio exhibition here in Rome, so excited
Even if I feel closer to contemporary art than modern art, I'm so ready to be inspired by Caravaggio even if I don't have time for drawing

seeing someone reading the vc series and realising that marius is actually an interesting and likeable character (which goes against what they thought he'd be like originally) just shows you how fandom has effectively spun this giant web of misinformation about him that too many people fall for.
basically, i feel vindicated. don't take ANYONE'S words about something at face value. find out for yourself instead of jumping on the hate train.

I saw a post using the fact that Marius is called de Romanus as a way to say that if show writers wanted to change his race they would have changed his (last) name too
I would like to explain a little something, not to go against anyone but to explain how Marius' ethnicity is not connected to his "last name".
1. Romans weren't just white. Everyone under the Empire was a Roman citizen.
2. Marius is born from a Keltic woman and a Roman man, we don't exactly know if in Rome or somewhere else.
3. He gave de Romanus as a sort of last name to Botticelli without thinking. It does just mean he's a Roman/from Rome. But in Marius' optic "from Rome" doesn’t mean from the city of Rome, but from the Roman Empire.
For this reason Marius' ethnicity can change from canon even if he's still called de Romanus. Most of all because his original story has his parents coming from two different ethnic group and he took a lot from his mother. So it can't be impossible to swap places and put his origin in North Africa or East Europe. It doesn't change the fact that he's a Roman. At the time there weren't racial discrimination like we have now, some Roman Emperors were POC down modern points of view. To Romans discrimination was towards the other cultures, skin colors didn't matter. They felt superior because they were Romans not because they were white and this frame of mind was common in other populations different from Romans too.
