St. Ann's Season to Include Enda Walsh, Cillian Murphy, Justin Vivian Bond, Wooster Group and More
St. Ann's Warehouse will welcome back acclaimed Irish playwright Enda Walsh with the American premiere of Misterman, starring Cillian Murphy, as part of its 2011-2012 season, which will mark the final year of programming at its current Dumbo home, in Brooklyn.
As previously reported, St. Ann's is in the process of seeking a new home after plans to relocate to a nearby Tobacco Warehouse fell through earlier this summer.
The 2011-2012 season will launch with Stop the Virgens, a new opera by Yeah Yeah Yeahs' vocalist Karen O and KK Barrett. Produced in association with the Creators Project, Adam Rapp will direct the Oct. 12-22 run that will feature Lili Taylor, Money Mark, Jack Lawrence, Patrick Keeler, Brian Chase, Nick Zinner, Jason Grisell, Gillian Rivers, Yuiko Kamakari and Justin Kantor. Sam Spiegel and Nick Zinner will musical direct.
Stop the Virgens is described as "an assault on the tragic joys of youth, fever dreams drenched in visual seduction, a cathartic spell spun through a cycle of nine songs."

Following will be Sinderella Songs, an exclusive concert with the Tiger Lillies and Tony Award nominee Justin Vivian Bond (Kiki & Herb), running Oct. 25-29.
The Foundry Theatre will stage the New York premiere of Kirk Lynn's How Much Is Enough: Our Values in Question, co-created with Melanie Joseph, which will debut Nov. 3-27.
How Much is Enough "explores notions of 'value' — in all its poetic iterations — quantitatively through our relations to money and qualitatively by asking what we hold dear. The piece itself is built entirely out of questions posed by three performers to audience members, to each other, to the universe, and then some, about how we live our lives, what plans we've made for the future and what advice we can offer one another as we attempt to create lives of value."
After staging the American premieres of Walsh's The Walworth Farce, New Electric Ballroom and Penelope, St. Ann's will welcome the playwright back to stage his latest work Misterman, running Nov. 30-Dec. 21.
Murphy ("Inception," "The Dark Knight/Batman Begins"), who also appeared in Walsh's Disco Pigs, will star in the work billed as "a dark, dangerous and blisteringly funny tale of one young man on his judgment day."
First presented at the Galway Arts Festival earlier this summer, Misterman has a score by Donnacha Dennehy, design by Jamie Vartan, lighting by Adam Silverman and sound by Gregory Clarke.
Daniel Kitson, who offered the American premiere of his work The Interminable Suicide of Gregory Church at St. Ann's last year, will also return with It's Always Right Now, Until It's Later, running Jan. 3-29, 2012.
According to St. Ann's, "This is a show about every single one of us, the past in our pockets, the future in our hearts and us, ourselves, very much stuck, trapped forever, in the tiny eternal moment between the two."
The Wooster Group and New York City Players will align for Early Plays, set to run Feb. 7-26, 2012, based on Eugene O'Neill's The Glencairn Plays. Richard Maxwell adapted and will direct the "tales of sailors on and off the ocean as a base to explore themes of longing and eternity. Dark episodes showing the underside of turn-of-the-century maritime life — brawls, dances and carousing — are staged with a quotidian grace allowing these simple stories to resonate emotionally."
The cast will include Enver Chakartash, Aron Deyo, Ari Fliakos, Teresa Hartmann, Daniel Jackson, Bozkurt Karasu, Bobby McElver, Kaneza Schaal, Andrew Schneider, Scott Shepherd, and Kate Valk, and New York City Players Keith Connolly, Jim Fletcher, Alex Delinois and Nicholas Elliott.
The family friendly work Elephant Room, featuring illusionists Dennis Diamond, Louie Magic and Daryl Hannah, will be offered during the March-April 2012 slot. Paul Lazar will direct the pieces created by Steve Cuiffo, Trey Lyford, Geoff Sobelle and the cast.
Elephant Room invites "audiences to a place of secrets. Of mystery. The place between the back of your mind and the tip of your tongue. Let's pretend it's a room — a real room. And you’re really here. In the Elephant Room."
TR Warszawa, which staged Macbeth for St. Ann's at the Tobacco Warehouse to acclaim in 2008, will return with a new adaptation of Festen, which will play April 20-29, 2012. Grzegorz Jarzyna will direct the adaptation by Thomas Vinterberg and Mogens Rukov that centers on the 60th birthday of a family patriarch.
For its final presentation of the season, St. Ann's will welcome back Cynthia Hopkins (Must Don't Whip 'Um) with Songs for This Clement World, to be presented May 4-5, 2012.
The evening will "poetically but urgently" address global climate change, as well as offer a retrospective of Hopkins' previous works including her Accidental Trilogy).
Member tickets are now available. Tickets  will go on sale to the general public Sept. 14. Phone (718) 254-8779 or visit artsatstanns.org.
St. Ann's Warehouse is located at 38 Water Street (between Main and Dock St.) in Brooklyn, New York.
