First show on the road as my new project Ani Christ. So excited to send my dear friend Street Fever on the road alongside Dave Parley (Prayers) and Evils at the Neurolux in Boise, ID. If you live in or anywhere around the area try and make it out for this. I promise it will not be a waste of your time (or of those you bring with you).

Audio
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Side One / Track One:
Civil Lust
“Constitutions”
self-released
“Constitutions” is an able bodied goth pop gem that serves as the opening salvo for the Salt Lake City based duo Civil Lust’s debut LP ‘Constitutions.’
The sultry slow burn of “Constitutions” gets the album off to a proper start with a spoken audio clip that kickoffs the blackened beauty, until a hypnotic and reverbed beat rocks your dome. If you’re not completely drawn in by the musical aptitude, then surely Riley’s vocals will finish the task, as they’re both dreamy and menacing. Anchored by a Cure-like bassline and whirling synths, “Constitutions” is a true passion play.
Press play and stare longingly…..

Album of the Month: June ‘17
Civil Lust
‘Constitutions’
self-released
Civil Lust combine, then blend, all the aesthetic pleasures that make a great Goth Pop record on their debut LP 'Constitutions.’
The Salt Lake City based duo (Christian Riley and Isaiah Michael) are masters of their craft, who nail the details to a tee. 'Constitutions’ is an exercise in classic post-punk tropes, but ones that have been further refined by years of study and more than capable craftsmanship.
The Cure bass lines, the Ian Curtisian vocals, to the Tears for Fears exuberance, Civil Lust create art that is sinewy yet soft (take one listen to “Receive” and tell me I’m wrong).
“Constitutions” gets the album off to a proper start with a spoken audio clip that kickoffs the blackened beauty, until a hypnotic and reverbed beat rocks your dome. If you’re not completely drawn in by the musical aptitude, then surely Riley’s vocals will finish the task, as they’re both dreamy and menacing. Anchored by a Cure-like bassline and whirling synths, “Constitutions” is a true passion play.
“Even Further” literally pulls you further into Civil Lust’s majestic ways with an echoed drum machine beat, tingled guitar lines, and Riley’s longing. “Sign Short” snaps to attention with an industrial beat and recalls modern death rockers like All Your Sisters, while “An Alternate Display” is all nervous energy.
The slow groove of the sensual “A Man You Will” is the type of sound the group perfect. The treated guitar lines that stream throughout the song, between moving bass lines and another powerful vocal turn, are the things that make a good song a great one. The devil’s in the detail. Album closer “You’ll Leave Me Again” is harrowing in a way that doesn’t take away from its aural pleasure, going hard on the Tears for Fears take of pop beauty shrouded in darkness.
‘Constitutions’ and its able bodied creators construct a seamless 7 track album and further enrich an already fertile modern goth landscape.
