no i want to talk again ab the macden in this ep like. it’s all in dennis’ mind this is his perspective of this relationship. mac thinking of making the diamonds in the pressure cooker vs dennis turning the heart into a diamond. mac saying not to pick up because it’s a test and dennis would get angry at them. he’s acknowledging how he’s hurt mac w his fight or flight tendencies. about north dakota. about everything. mac standing in the back of the first face time just watching. he’s respectful of dennis’ mental health day. doesn’t try to barge in. he reminds dennis his car is in the shop (not commenting on his mental health just logistics!). mac knows dennis better than he knows himself

dennis being okay with letting mac into his space and not shying away from physical contact and mac initiating touch with dennis after so long is something that can be so personal actually. they're getting older but they've always got each other

The way Dennis is both a victim of his fantasy and the one controlling it, just like he’s in some ways a victim of his circumstances but in other ways he perpetuates and encourages his own dysfunction

i think the thing that cements dtamhd as not a personal dennis win was the fact that the doctor literally said you can take medication to regulate high blood pressure - in the same way he can dye his greying hairs or wear makeup on his aging face or eat healthy and workout. he's completed deluded himself into this idea of physical perfection that he had to put himself through an elaborate, and honestly painful, mental sequence in which his limits are tested akin to a diamond being formed under pressure. in the end result you come out with a gem but dennis remains dishonest and insecure with every aspect of his life. he's living in a time that he feels left behind in so he resorts to the golden god fantasy version of him that's above his trauma and insecurities and imperfections that's he becomes his own higher power; enriched in an inner world that harbours him and his victories. he's so so delusional and i share the sentiment that this should absolutely not be The Dennis Episode

waitress stuck around after everyone left. she didn’t cheer because she doesn’t care about women’s sports (if we take that at face value then gain some class consciousness dork but i digress) but she still stuck around. she said she hates dee and thinks she’s a terrible person, a bitch, ugly, gross, didn’t even want her on the team, but she stuck around for her anyway <3

btw i had a bad day so i need all the girlies in bowling to be on their craziest hottest unhinged gay shit tonight and also the only plot dennis is allowed to have is crying when his hand breaks. are these really such high demands

charmac boybestfriends hanging out in abandoned skateparks and after hours bike rides, idiot4idiot. macden is what if we played a really intense game of gay chicken but like with feelings puppy boy in love with cat boy. charden is looking at a distorted reflection of yourself so you decide to be kind for once like they should’ve been to you. It’s knowing how touch is the most powerful weapons. It’s librarians and uncles and no that didn’t happen, it didn’t, you don’t know what you’re talking about. It’s feeling too much so you explode or dull it down with crack and glue. It’s two cats trying to escape a storm by holding each other, claws buried in each others backs. it’s letting go and leaving the wounds behind and they scar but never really heal. time passes and the pain is so routine you forget about it then you see each other and now your back is wet and you’re standing in a pool of blood.

me after thinking about the gang reaching out for their long gone childhoods and all the things they miss even all the things that hurt them and all the things they feel like they missed out on and how they'll never be able to go back and cannot control the passing of time for 5 seconds
