my countdown to star wars celebration: a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away... [favorite part of the star wars universe]

This is a story that I have mentioned multiple times on my blog. When I watched A New Hope as a kid, I did not care for it one bit. It did not pique my interest at all and I actually found the Family Guy spoof of it so much better. It was not until my sister forced me to attend the midnight release of Rogue One that I had my eyes opened to the epic-ness that was the GFFA. So, I took the plunge and finally started watching the films in release order. I knew that there was so much to Rogue One that I had missed with the very little SW lore that I knew. And I can't like things a normal amount. So, of course, this ended up taking up my every waking thought henceforth. From the moment I watched The Phantom Menace, I knew my life was never going to be the same. And it hasn't been. I am a prequels enthusiast through and through! I cannot think of a (canon) Star Wars project set in the prequels era that has not completely captivated and enthused me. And these characters are the dearest to my heart.

Does Obi-Wan still think of Satine, even after all those years on Tatooine?

Of course he thinks of her. He thinks of things she said. He reads books and poems she loved. He can hear her voice, both the sweet things she saved just for him in the rare moments they stole to be alone, as well as the things she said in the heat of their arguments. The heated things make him laugh, now. She was so Mandalorian, he thinks. She fought as viciously with her words as her sister did with her blasters and fists.

When he trims his beard he thinks of her, and her little comment that one time on Coruscant. He sometimes wonders if he should shave it off. Of course, it would maybe make him look less like General Obi-Wan Kenobi- an important thing these days- but also it would be more like how he was when they were together, young and foolish and hopelessly in love. He doesn't, because he can still feel her fingers run through his beard, smiling that little smile- a thing she did not do enough- and he doesn't want to lose a fraction of that memory. He has so many awful memories; he must hold especially tight to the sweet ones.

Of course he thinks of her. Most of the time, he tries to keep his memories of her to her. Her voice, the feel of her lithe body against his, the texture of her hair, the things she said and did that made her so uniquely Satine. But sometimes, on particularly dark nights, when his mind hadn't had enough of just torturing him with all the things that went so terribly wrong with Anakin, he thinks of that horrible, awful day on Mandalore, and all the things he did wrong there. He thinks of all the things he could have done differently. He thinks of all the things he should have said to her.

Of course he thinks of her. Because she holds both his happiest memories and his worst. And he is forever grateful and forever heartbroken because of it.

And honestly... Yes, Satine had not told him yet that she loved him, but she knew she was a cherished affection of Obi-Wan and she certainly respected Master Qui-Gon, so 𝙨𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 visited him for a final farewell and to 𝙝𝙤𝙡𝙙 𝙊𝙗𝙞-𝙒𝙖𝙣'𝙨 𝙥𝙞𝙚𝙘𝙚𝙨 𝙩𝙤𝙜𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 (and literally his hand)

Guilty as sin p.2 ~ snapshots

But things go increasingly downhill

“How did these bounty hunters even manage to get their hands on battle droids?” Obi-Wan questioned out loud as his saber pierced through a droid.

“I mean you could always ask them, the trade federation might just awnser—“ You reply sarcastically, slashing your saber again .

“Well i don’t think they’d be very cooperative, do you?” He retorted matching your sarcasm as he beheaded another droid.

“Stop bickering you two—“ Qui Gon Jinn said while gutting the last droid.

“Master—“ You plead your steps slowing down without you wanting to, and Qui Gon seemed to realize just how worn out you were. This was it. He had pushed you both too far. He turned around and stayed behind you as you kept blocking the blasterfire coming your way. Keeping Obi-Wan secure in his arms, head against his shoulder, and his eyes were closed already. He really should’ve been better. For the both of you.

But there was another kind of determination in you as he saw you cradle Obi-Wan. You were determined in a dangerous way. No, a selfless one.

Since ch.2 has been heavily requested. By like 2 people.

Just so y’all know: I can’t speak for every other fic author but I can say that I remember when people leave me kind comments. I recognize your urls and/or usernames on AO3. I remember you and sometimes in writing my fics I think to myself, “Oh, I hope this person sees this because they liked x in this other fic I did.”

Not only that—I go back and reread comments when I’m feeling low. I look at tags and reblogs and asks and wish I could hold them in my hand like a note from a friend on an old, torn piece of notebook paper.
