He saw Lars for the first time since he returned to Mystic. They’d been friends in high school. Cameron admired his ‘don’t care’ attitude. He tried to sneak up on him, though Cameron had heavy footsteps. He gave Lars a gentle punch on the arm. “Hey, dude. What’s up with you?”

The fact that she has zero moves can not (and indeed, will not) stop April from grooving in the middle of the store. Really, it’s their fault – if the staff here didn’t want her busting out her white-dad-at-a-barbeque dance they shouldn’t have headphones waiting by a little preview area. It’s more of an involuntary impulse than anything else, honestly. She doesn’t even really notice she’s doing it, because the only think she’s focused on is how hard More Than a Woman by the Bee Geez freakin’ slaps. Seriously, she needs to rewatch Saturday Night Fever, because she forgot how hard the soundtrack goes. So focused is she on this little one-woman show she’s got going on that she doesn’t notice everyone else in the store can see her – well, specifically that one person in particular can see her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cameron was watching her dance, in awe of her dance moves and her confidence. He could appreciate anyone willing to bust a move in the middle of the store. He walked over and waved at her. “Can you teach me some of your dance moves?” He liked learning new things.

@mysticstarter  /  the hideout OPEN STARTER
Tumblr media
Emilia was hardly ever the underground type. A dreadfully mainstream individual who followed the heard just like everyone else. But there was charm in those who didn’t do the same. Since coming back she liked going to the Hideout’s open mic nights as it was beyond amusing. Half the time you got to see some real raw talent, and other times… it was endearing to say the least. So she’s had a coffee and a biscuit and she’d sit and watch as local college kids recited poetry or did their cover of Wonderwall or Skinny Love or whatever the contemporary equivalent was.
Just as the person performing in the corner was wrapping up, she saw someone take a seat at the table next to her. She smiled, bringing her mug to her lips. “You missed out on a great performance.” Emilia nods. “I’m pretty sure the gentleman up there just performed a poem to us all about the first time he went to third base with a girl.” She snickers to herself as she took another sip of her coffee.
Tumblr media
“I’m sad I missed that,” he laughed. Cameron liked watching the open mic to see if anyone could inspire him. He always talked about how he wanted to learn new skills, so he liked seeing what other people did to give him ideas. “I was going to perform magic tricks up there one time, but I left my cards at home. I think I want to learn to breakdance.” He wanted to do something that was fun and full of energy. He found poertry boring, it required too much thinking and interpreation. His attention span was too short.

TIME: Early night LOCATION: Moonie’s STATUS: Open, @mysticstarter
Her brain kept telling her that the case was open and shut and yet, perhaps it was her paranoid mind, Thea kept thinking there was something more to it. It was too easy. Or maybe, she just needed to get her eyes off of the case file and take a break. Which is what she set out to do that night, as she sat down at the bar at Moonie’s.
“Long day, too?” Thea commented to the person beside her, stranger or not, giving them a momentarily look before looking down at her bourbon glass again and taking a sip.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“No,” he said, a confused look on his face. “I feel like time has flown by. Have you had a long day?” He was always going out so he could socialize. He liked to make his rounds, especially because there were so many people he hadn’t seen in a while. He needed to catch up with them. He was waiting for one of his friends to come by while he sat at the bar, sipping on a beer.

status: open time: early afternoon location: 32 below
Sun beams bright, rays blinding any attempt to view the world outside. She can imagine, though, the sidewalks crowded with people. The bustle of families and friends enjoying the first taste of summer; A part of her is envious. Not of the activity, but of the company. How long has she wished to be known beyond the appearance she works so hard at? She’s lost in thought, elbows rested against countertop, when the door swings open. With a burst of warm air and a tinkling bell, she’s pulled back to reality. “  Hey, welcome! How’s it going?  ”

He got his paycheck yesterday. Obviously, he had to go spend some of it right away. He was surprisingly good at budgeting. He’d been spoiled growing up, but once his parents cut him off, he had to learn to make due. It was worth it because that was better than the alterantive of returning to the states and going to college to become some business tycoon. Now he was back anyway, but he was living with his grandparents, so there were less bills he had to pay. It was a warm day out, so he decided to stop to get ice cream. “Hey. I’m doing really great right now. I mean I’m about to buy ice cream after all.” He walked up to the counter and started looking at all the flavors. “How are you?”

He was staring at his reflection in the window of some store. He’d gotten in an argument with his grandmother about the outfit he was wearing – a large winter jacket with one of his shorter pair of shorts. He thought it was funny and ironic, hence the reason he wore it, but his grandmother thought it made him look stupid. He’d forgotten about it until he caught a glimpse of himself in the window. He saw someone else approaching in the reflection and quickly turned around. “Hey, man, is this a weird outfit?”

At Cameron’s complaint, Ben had to shake his head with a light laugh under his breath. To him, it was more of a miracle that Cameron had been able to remain in one place for this long. “Just tell me what the hell you blew up in their house this time.” He had to jest when it came to the predicament Cam now was in. “Or maybe it’s just a ploy you know, they just want you stuck with them.” He shrugged, folding his arms. But maybe that wasn’t so far-fetched, everyone was still coming down from the recent blackout after all.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cameron looked away and pursued his lips. “I can’t believe you think I blew something up.” He scoffed after he said these words. “All I did was try to hammer a nail into the wall to put up a picture and maybe there is a little crack in the wall and some paint chips on the floor.” That was an understatement. There was a huge crack in the wall. He had kept hammering away as the crack grew and grew, whistling as he did it. When his grandparents had seen what happened, they demanded he clean up, their anger only intensifying when it took days for him to get around to it. “Hm, I think that’s it. I am their favorite grandchild after all and they hardly see me.” He nodded his head, content with that suggestion. “You don’t have a chore chart, do you?”

✗ CLOSED STARTER // @cameronmontgomery
Greer set down the small bag of tools that she had brought along to help out Cameron. It had become a bit of an unspoken deal between the two that whenever something seemed to break or need a bit of touch-up, Greer would come over to help him fix it. Her home repair skills had always come from working around her father and desperately wanting to be a part of any of his home improvement projects. Besides, it also helped to work on someone else’s place when she began to get frustrated with her own. “So what needed fixing up again?”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Greer was his saving grace. He’d be lost without her, or at least, in more trouble than he typically was. His grandparents had been going on a lot of vacations since he’d been back, well, they’d been doing it since they retired. They didn’t have anything else to do. They trusted Cameron enough to leave him alone, but he usually ended up creating some sort of disaster. He’d always phone Greer to help him recover from a weekend of shennanigans. He rubbed the back of his neck and looked at the fan. “I wanted to see what would happen when I threw things at the fan. I wanted to see if it would shred things. I threw a baseball at it, but I guess I threw it too hard. It broke one of the propellor things or whatever it’s called.” One of the fan blades was shorter than the others with jagged edges. Cameron moved to pick up the other half off the floor by the couch. He held it up so she could asses the damage.

“My grandparents said I need learn responsiblity, Ben, so they made me a chore chart. Can you believe that? I’m closing in on my thirtys and they are treating me like I’m ten.” He was in-denial that it was a reasonable thing for them to do. He needed other people to force him to confine to a schedule. He tended to forget about things or just didn’t feel like it doing it. Yet, the only reason he might follow the chart is because he loved his grandparents. “I lived on my own for ten years, I think I know what it means to be responsible.”

“So that’s what the great Cameron has been up to?”, Julaine asked before the two spiraled in a conversation regarding an elaborate magic show. Usually, whenever she talks to Cameron it’s always a series of exciting adventures after another… Adventures she wishes she was brave enough take on. Even though her whole life she craved to leave her hometown, the combination of fear and hope that her brother would come back just as Warren did, had Juliane miserably planted in Mystic. “I can’t also tell you that it won’t turn into a complete disaster”, Juliane laughed at the image of Cameron playing around with lasers and possibly blinding a few audience members. “But don’t let me stop you from living out your dreams. YOLO or whatever.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“I think you only have doubts because you haven’t seen me do magic.” He hadn’t seen himself do magic either but he had lots of self confidence. He thought he could do anything he set his mind to. And people always said practice made perfect, though he didn’t have enough patience to practice until he was perfect. He usually tried something once and he gave it up if he wasn’t good at it. He often gave up things he was good at too. His attention span was too short to be focused on any one hobby at a time. The only thing he stuck with was photography and that’s because it changed depending on whatever country he was in. He never had to photgraph the same thing twice. He could photograph his friends or photograph the scenary. “Jules, you’ll be blown away when you see my put on a magic show. I can feel it in my bones.”

Luke didn’t have much going for him at the moment, other than wet hair and a drenched shirt, so he accepted the other man’s offer. He didn’t feel owed the beer, but with the way the night had gone, a free beer was needed. “Not hard to drink something better than Budweiser… think even piss would be better,” he remarked as he wiped the other side of his face. “Not that I’m asking you to get me piss.” He added. “Guinness. Then we can officially call it even.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He chuckled at his comment. “Sounds good.” He walked to the bar and ordered a Guinness and a mojito for himself. When he got the drinks, he brought them back to the guy. He handed the beer over and took a sip of his own drink. “Do you want me to get you a towel or something? I’d offer you my shirt but I only have the one.” It was an odd sensation for him to feel so down at the bar, especially on someone else’s behalf. Usually he was dancing or making a fool of himself or joking around for his friends. He didn’t really know what to do to help this guy out after his unfortunate encounter.

Warren wasn’t precisely sure how he’d ended up listening to Cameron’s… ‘pitch’ — he wasn’t even sure what it was for. Running the risk of appearing unfriendly, Warren was at least making an effort to support the seemingly strange idea. After all, not all of his ideas were always the greatest, and he was trying to… reinvent his reputation in Mystic.
Brows furrowed, he gave the man a verbal cue to continue. “Um, sure, yeah… But, like, what’s it for? You gonna do parties or something like that?”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
His question stopped Cameron in his tracks. He hadn’t got that far in his line of thought. But he was quickly bouncing with excitment again. “Like a flash mob but for my magic show. I show up in random place and just start magic tricks.” He looked expectantly at Warren. He wanted his approval because he thought it was cool. You had to be cool to fake your own death and then come back to town anyway.

✗ OPEN STARTER // @mysticstarter
Where: Chet’s Grocery Time: 6:00 pm
Quietly working his way through the list of items he hadn’t yet found on his grocery list, Forrest found himself getting confused. Had they recently reorganized the aisles, was there suddenly a salt shortage he wasn’t aware of, or was he losing it? Eyebrows furrowing together, he scanned the aisle once more, hoping his eyes would somehow magically land on the miserable table salt that he couldn’t manage to find. Instead of the salt he was on the verge of forgetting about, his eyes landed on an individual that seemed to be deliberating between items on their own list.
“Don’t get the one on the left,” he whispered under his breath, or at least tried to. Realizing he had been a bit too loud, he offered the other a slightly apologetic smile. “Sorry — er, bad experiences.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Really? My grandparents specfically requested this kind of cracker.” Cameron had made it his duty to do the grocery shopping for his grandparents since they let him stay in the house rent free. They were getting older, so he wanted to make their lives easier. “But maybe I should get them something else if you don’t think those are good.” He always trusted what other people told him as he tended to see the best in people and expected them to be honest.
