snippet of chapter 10 for twtg :3 promise I have not forgotten about them <333 (no beta we die like men)

Dylan notices Bin and Buggy out of the corner of his eye– they’re racing, and Buggy gives Bin a push as they start, causing him to stumble. He’s yelling something in German at the boy ahead of him as he starts to catch up, but Buggy makes it to the goal line before him and celebrates like he’s just scored the game winning goal. Bin catches him at the waist, providing an extra boost which sends them into the wall– but they’re wrapped in each other, Bin sliding to a stop so he hits the wall before his partner. They start giggling, and it’s all so carefree, innocent. 

Why has he waited so long? 

The two rookies are skating around, bumping shoulders occasionally. It’s a mirror image of what once was him and Connor, and it scares him a bit. 

He’s been in this constant push and pull of not wanting to love him too much and the inevitable truth that Dylan does love him. He loves him too much. 

But shouldn’t that be enough? Shouldn’t the pang in his heart that worries him be enough for him to just tell him?  

He looks over at Charlie– she’s kneeling on the ice now a few metres away, hanging onto the end of two hockey sticks as Connor slings her down the rink. Again! She asks, to which Connor answers with a curt no. 

“Did you see that Daddy? I was flying!” 

“You sure were!” 

Connor’s looking at her like he always is– like she’s his own child, like he can’t dare to miss a second of her growing up. And who is Dylan to take that away from her?

sorry to be annoying about this and I’m really not trying to start anything, but I really do think we should start the new year reinforcing and upholding beloved rpf norm, locked fics!!

I’ve been observing a kinda :/// habit of people not locking their rpf fics lately and it’s kinda a bummer to me, given how weak the fourth wall is there days and how locked fics really serve to protect us, which is so important for building community and enjoying fandom imo. locking rpf really is best for you and me and your favorite author and your favorite fic and all your friends like it would just be so nice if we can all get in the habit again.

Not only do I promise your audience will find you, but, speaking for myself at least, I’m way more likely to click on a fic and follow the author and slide into their dms and ultimately just engage in COMMUNITY when the fic is locked. it would be cool to me if my community grew. I love building my fandom community and exploring new spaces and to me this is best done with a healthy lock. sorry I had to get this off my chest.
