This is so cute. I was lucky to be able to visit the Bearded Vulture breeding center in Cazorla and see one of those little chicks.

Listen, that episode was intense. The build-up is so strong and I have so many feelings about this. I’m going to try and articulate them as best I can.

Something that has really stood out to me about Season 2 has been how much growth Harley has gone through, the writers have given so many parallels. We aren’t just getting a Harlivy love story, we are getting a Harley love story. Harley learning that what her trauma made her believe is wrong, she’s finally getting to a place where she can understand what, or who she wants. 

In episode 7 the pivotal moment for me was the realization of bane’s words hitting Harley, how she sacrificed herself for Ivy because she truly loves her and only wants her to be happy. It not only parallels Harley jumping into the acid but how in Season 1 she didn’t realize she was neglecting Ivy. How she was so at peace with her decision because all she could think about was how Ivy would be alive and happy 

Then in today’s episode, she pushes aside her feelings and tries to keep herself busy because the thought of being vulnerable and acknowledging her feelings is too painful. How she comes to that realization when Ivy asks her what she wants. The way they set up that shot to have Ivy like a light amidst the flames was so striking and powerful. You could see the exact moment Harley’s heart broke and how she yet again swallowed her own feelings because she didn’t want to wreck her best friend’s happiness. It was heartbreaking and I cried, because it was so real and the emotion was so raw. Harley is willing to give up her own happiness just so Ivy can have her’s. 

And what neither of them realize is that Harley does make her happy. Ivy spent the entire episode shoving herself into this relationship because it’s safe and the quiet life she thought she wanted. Yet as soon as she thought Harley was in danger she was right by her side, talking her round and ready to hear her. Loving Harley is terrifying and being in denial is so much easier that admitting it’s always been Harley. 

This season is building it up and we know it’s going to get to a point where neither of them can deny it anymore. It’s going to be messy and angsty because feelings are complex, they’re not easy and letting yourself be vulnerable is fucking hard. This story is so, so important and to me it feels so organic and raw. Their story is beautiful and when we finally get that moment, it’s going to be worth the wait.
