Thinking about TaiVan, LottieLee and ShaunaNat's dynamics and the role religion plays in them...

Something about the latter two representing complete faith and scepticism while the former is a juxtaposition based on need, comfort and ultimately a faith-like love in one another.

Nat and Shauna both being relented to Catholicism and their contrasting ways to deal with guilt, while Laura Lee and Tai both seem to have upbringings involving US Protestantism and display the polarising beliefs of faith vs science. Lottie and Van, with no shown prior beliefs, both being the biggest believers in the Wilderness, both just trying to make sense of their minds and experiences.

Not to mention similarities and differences of characters who want to stay vs those who want to leave.

the thing that gets me about natalie is that she is so good but refuses to acknowledge all the good she's done over the bad. she is without a doubt the member of the team that refused to give up her morals the most out of anyone in the wilderness. she participates in the cannibalism but you can see that she hates herself for it. she is so focused on the bad that she's done that she can't see how much the good outweighs it. all her life she's been treated like she's nothing, no good, just an addict. it's impossible for her to get rid of that feeling and nobody (other than misty and adult tai) can see that cus even she can't. and it just shows how she never lost touch with her humanity because if she did then she wouldn't be so ashamed of the things she did to survive, or seek out drugs again to numb the pain because that's the only way she knows how to cope. out of all the survivors we see, she remains the most in-touch with her humanity. and because of that, it makes sense that she's the first one we see die in the adult timeline (not counting travis cus he starts the show dead). she finally gets to be at peace knowing that she died in place of lisa, like she couldn't do with javi. it's her penance.

i know this is the we love evil women / jeff and callie are boring show but god something in me really broke. seeing jeff choose his daughter and finally understand the danger she’s been in and the cycle they’re caught in. the way he’s like ‘i’ve known you your whole life cals’ and gives everything up in an instant if it means protecting her. he doesn’t hate her for what she’s done. & their whole relationship this season has been so important to me and i really hope they can go somewhere safe. i mean this is yellowjackets so probably they’re going to get involved in more murder but. fuck man.

The hunt really wasn't as simple as people keep making it. It wasn't all the girls vs Shauna, Lottie and Tai but a number of groups with their own plans against them. The main two against being Team Phone and Team Kill, who had no idea of each other's plans.

The teams were:

Team Hunt — Shauna, Lottie and Tai

Self explanatory. They all have their own reasons.

Team TaiVan —

Rigging the cards to ensure their safety and conspiracy to target Hannah due to her being an outsider.

Team Phone — Natalie, Misty, Van and later Hannah

Nat, Misty and Van work together to fix the phone, and realise they need a stronger signal. They are all shown to be confused by the animals dying, Nat even attempting to convince the girls that it means they should leave and is confused when Mari shoots her down. They agree to use the hunt as a cover for Nat to get the phone up the mountain. Hannah discovers the plot and joins by impersonating Nat. Van and Misty are the only ones seen around and knowing when Shauna realises Nat is gone.

Team Kill — Mari, Melissa, Akilah and Gen

These four are seen discussing and creating the circumstances for the hunt by having Akilah poison the animals. Mari shots down Nat's theory on why the animals died and helps give Lottie the idea for the hunt.

Mari gets chosen as the sacrifice. Melissa attacks Shauna and is almost successful in killing her but is unable to. Gen seperates Tai from Shauna by lying and tries to lead her off somewhere more secluded but is interrupted by Van who is confused and she lies (kind off) about her just trying to give Mari more time. Akilah goes after Lottie in the cave and is last seen wielding a rock threateningly, while Lottie is seen afterwards leaving the cave alive.

Team Drunk — Travis

Self explanatory.

Team Unknown — Robin and Britt

Our beloved extras who are seen participating, so they are seemingly team hunt but who knows.
