Headcanon that Athena mentions her "friend" to Telemachus every time she has the chance and Telemachus, being this curious boy always wanting to hear stories, always encourages her to do so.

Then one day, Telemachus being bored as hell and probably got into another fight with the suitors, goes up to Athena and asks her if her friend ever did something stupid

And Athena just. Jumps to tell all the bullshit Odysseus got into. It's like a therapy session to talk about how dumb he can be. And Telemachus eats it all up

Fast forward to when Ody comes back home and Athena just hangs around sometimes. Telemachus, again, bored goes to ask Athena about stories of her friend and the shit he did. And Athena freezes up. Odysseus gets curious, and jealous, cause he never knew about a friend, and asks his son.

The mix of pure horror on his face when he discovers his son knows all the stupid shit he did in his youth, and the joy of Athena calling him her friend and talking about it goes entirely unnoticed by his son.

Athena meanwhile is dying inside.

I’ve seen so many posts about the souls in Six Hundred Strike, how they are shown to drown Odysseus but the fandom wants them to help instead.

And I have a personal take on this.

I think the souls in Six Hundred Strike are not real.

BEAR WITH ME.

The souls are supposed to sing their final thoughts/final moments from when they died, right? But they are all very NOT doing that!

Polites is singing a line from long before he died (you can relax my friend) plus it does not make sense for him to be thinking of that while he get smashed by the cyclops.

Eurylochus is singing a line WAYYYY before his death as well, it’s from the Circe saga (look at what we’ve lost and what we’ve learn).

And the rest of Odysseus’ drown men are not even singing their own line (waiting, waiting, waiting, ahhh).

So. My take is that, it’s all just Odysseus’ conscious speaking (I mean, he IS actively drowning at the moment). It’s all in his head and it’s not even real.

He’s head and body is telling him to just let go, but through the process he regains he’s will to live because DAMMIT HIS WIFE AND SON IS WAITING.

Therefore, the whole thing should not be about why are the souls not helping him/why is the song called six hundred strike if the drowned souls are not even fighting with Ody but about a mental struggle and fighting for the memories of the lost ones.

This morning there was a nation-wide text spam campaign targeting Black Americans (largely students) telling them that they’ve been selected to pick cotton and will be picked up to be sent to a plantation after Trump’s inauguration.

People online are making jokes about it, but it’s genuinely a disturbing sign. Someone was emboldened enough to intentionally run a background on thousands of young Black people and send them racist messages the day after a very exhausting and stressful election.

I like to think that violence (from Ody) is foreplay to her. And that him telling her about his adventure went something like this:

Another little headcanon (I’m sorry I can’t stop)

Telemachus notices these little things and comes to the conclusion that Poseidon and his dad must clearly be good friends. (Cause Tele is friends with Athena so why not? His dad was at sea for like 17 years or smth. They must’ve spent a lot of time together)

Telemachus: dad can you introduce me to your god friend?

Ody: ?? Hm??? (Presuming you aren’t really supposed to tell other mortals about being friends with gods) (thinks his son figured out Athena’s his patron goddess)

Telemachus: you don’t need to hide it. I know you’re friends with Poseidon. That’s how you’re so good at sailing and we never have storms and stuff.

Ody: *eye twitching* …right.. yeah. Okay fine (cant say no to puppy dog eyes)

……. Later……

Telemachus:

Hello Mr. Poseidon, nice to meet you! Thank you for taking care of my dad all these years! 😇😇❤️❤️✨✨

(Ares appears and waves)

Ody doesn’t even have time to panic before a body of after plops Telemachus back on the ship (moana style) with a note saying “I didn’t do shit.”

Some little fun things to know about Penelope (feel free to add more)

- Literaly a fucking spartan?? (From my understanding the Spartans trained everyone?)

- Fooled 108 men for around 20 years???

- I’d assume that while the suitors were getting impatient, they might’ve waited longer had Tele not been getting close to Coronation age (implies they had the decency/ respect to not force but rather pressure her?)

- admired by a genius (as the goddess of brains admits)

- Acknowledged by The Goddess of Wisdom and fucking brains??????

- the suitors have to talk shit to Tele instead of the queen.

- 100% sure she could deal major damage to the suitors

- OG girls girl

- was an active queen (maintaining a kingdom takes effort)

- Earned the respect of all women and a lot of men???

- Managed to outwit and fools 108 men while they were ON GUARD and AWARE OF HER PREVIOUS TRICKERY??

edit: This is about how people in the fandom prioritize Odysseus and Telemachus (and even Diomedes, who is not in the Odyssey) despite the Odyssey also being HER story as well. I've seen many fics about Odysseus and Telemachus in their youth, and never really seen that for Penelope.
