Being born and raised in a prison must affect your mentality. When that prison is Peña Dura it must really mess with your head. Yet Bane came out of the experience with an ability for rational planning and patience.
How does he react to being put in Blackgate? Is the environment comfortingly familiar? It's certainly an easier proposition than the prison on Santa Prisca. I'd expect him to be as efficient inside as out, giving even Penguin a run for his money. And that is a rivalry I'd like to see.

Something I'd like to see explored more is Bane's relationship with Venom. It is obviously a source of strength but I'd like to see how its also a weakness. This is a drug and those come with side effects. What are his periods of withdrawal like? Are there long term problems he has to face? Day to day how does he deal with the equipment and injection sites?
All too often people forget he is frighteningly intelligent and tactically minded in favour of depicting him as all muscle. Venom was an interesting way of setting this character apart but it isn't everything. Show us how it can actually detract from his other gifts.

Unmasked
Baneuary Day 1: Venom || @baneuary Fandoms: DC, Marvel Summary: Venom uses Bane as a host in this one-shot crossover fic A/N: I decided to take inspiration that Tom Hardy portrays both Bane and Venom and use both meanings of the word to create this one-shot. It’s not as serious as my other works, but I had fun writing it and I hope you enjoy it!! <3 I’m hoping to incorporate Bane from the comics later this week so I can write in Spanish more :)
Bane blamed Superman, Poison Ivy, and the Scarecrow for his current predicament. But mostly Superman. It all started a week ago, when Superman had come to Gotham and brought something otherworldly with him. The League didn’t know much about Superman, only that he lived in Metropolis and wasn’t from this planet. With the news of Superman’s arrival, the rogues of Gotham had decided to stir up some trouble; the chance to rile someone other than Batman up was too good to waste. So that explained how Bane found himself in a warehouse with a few completely sealed crates. Ever curious scientists, Poison Ivy and the Scarecrow had decided to come along as well, hoping that whatever was in the crates was something they could use to improve their arsenals. In a way, they were right.

Bane Fact #4
He dislikes smoking! It’s never explained why, but it could possibly be out of concern for health, or because the jail warden from Santa Prisca regularly smoked.

Bane Fact #3
Bane has a… complex relationship with food.
Growing up in Santa Prisca, food is food, as far as he’s concerned! He’s grown up to not be picky with what he eats. He spent most of his adolescence eating raw fish that would flood into his cell in the Cavedad Oscuro, and it’s later shown that he’s willing to eat rats for a source of protein. He’s been conditioned to eat what he’s been offered, even if he doesn’t understand the social cues that come with them, and it has also made him quite susceptible to consuming food that has been drugged.
That being said, his favorite dish is roasted chicken, and he’s very fond of tequila! Secret Six writer Gail Simone has stated that he apparently hates soup as well… so interpret that however you wish lol.

Bane Fact #2
Bane is fond of Bolero music! Additionally, he fantasizes about listening to it with his significant other!
Originating from Cuba, Bolero music is a genre that is extremely popular across Latin American! the song that Bane references here, Besame Mucho, is widely considered to be one of the most popular songs of the 20th century.
Since I can't help myself, I made a playlist of Latin, Bolero and Bossa Nova music (I know it's Portuguese leave me alone) that give me Bane-vibes, if you'd like to get an idea of what it's like!

Bane
A/N: Hey, everyone! So, you may have noticed I reblogged posts about the Baneuary event that will be going on next month over at @baneuary. I’m really excited to participate. That said, I will be writing for Bane using a version of the character that I created, which blends what we are given in the comics and Tom Hardy’s version in The Dark Knight Rises film, so I am creating this post to clarify a little bit about what lore from each canon I will be using for the character and what I have added for the sake of fluidly blending the two versions of Bane.

Bane Fact #1
It is widely considered that Bane speaks six languages, but this is actually untrue! That fact came from his first appearance in Vengeance of Bane #1, but in following appearances, he's been shown to comprehend at least eleven languages!
Spanish
English
Portuguese
Urdu
Czech
Farsi/Dari (I placed these two together bc they're dialects of the same language, but please let me know if they need to be separated!)
Latin
Cantonese
Russian
Italian
Korean
Everything here has been sourced from Vengeance of Bane, Bane of the Demon, Bane: Conquest, and Batman: Europa!
#Bane#DC comics#batman#Baneuary#czech is an educated guess bc he has a conversation w a man in Prague and comments that his accent hinders his articulation.#and I assume that if he was talking to a local he's going to use the country's language#but given that he's in PRAGUE I'll take the L if it turns out he was speaking something else

I know this question is gonna take a while with lot of comics and other adaptations that's been published over the decades, but...can you give us your score of hotness with unmasked Bane?
Oh my god. Anon, do you have any idea what you’ve done? Do you know how many hours I’ve spent compiling this? I have had to consult five different encyclopedias, dig through a dozen different comic blogs, and I have, at the very least, went through 100 comic books trying to find like... one panel that I could use.
Anyways, this is like... the most amount of work I’ve ever done for this blog, and I’m lowkey proud of it???? Here’s the tier list I made (and you can make your own here) and I’m going to be splitting this up into chunks so I can go over and get into my thoughts on each Bane.
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4
