Offline storage: a badcomicsrph tutorial

if you need cheap offline storage like me: quick tiktok tutorial here

I'm increasingly annoyed by how small storage gets in laptop, while games and movies and such are such big files. So I was looking for an alternative to the cloud because I don't trust it fully (and what if you lose access to internet for any reason??? or can't pay for cloud storage?????)

a 2 hard drives docking is about 30-40 euros on amazon, browse for best prices etc. I can rec you the one I purchased if you'd like.

if you have an (unused) tv box somewhere, check it out for a hard drive inside (that's what i did)

if you don't have one, you could find one while thrifting. Don't spend too much on it! about 5 euros like in the video or in that price range.

you only need a small cross screwdriver, the docking, and you will get to save all your files offline :)

of course it's not SSD storage, but HDD. It's a bit slower, but we're looking to store files, not start an OS or anything like that. IMO SSD is nice for an OS but the speed is not needed to access regular files. And once your SSD is freed of non OS/non game files? You get all that space for the things that do need the SSD speed. Best of both worlds.

Hello! I would be willing to give you a reverse fancast? Like, I'd see X actor take on XYZ roles? Instead of listing multiple actors for one character?

For instance, for Jessica Alba, I'd like to see her play Marianella Mancha (Victor Mancha's mother), or Arcata (a Mexican DC superhero) even if those characters and their designs in comics don't necessarily align with how she looks IRL? But I believe she could give us a Vibe. Arcata feels a bit like her Dark Angel role to me, and Marianella Mancha could be a very age appropriate role for her! Mom of a late teen boy!

but if you'd like suggestions for comics that actually look like her, it's even trickier in Alba's case: she's half Mexican, ethnically wise, and there aren't many (I haven't found any) Mexican (or half Mexican) characters that fit her usual looks in marvel or dc.

I am not comfortable with suggesting white (or unspecified ethnicity) characters "lookalike" for a person who has a specific heritage.

It would feel so disrespectful to me to do that <3

Official semi-hiatus notice! Expect low IC activity for the coming month as I am preparing to move into a new place. Yay to not being homeless <3

If you'd like to help this move successful? I take ko-fi donations <3 Money is extra super tight at the moment with everything I need to do for the move. I have most of the deposit and the first rent covered, but there's some extra costs.

I have the luck to be allowed to reach out to a nonprofit to help me, but they still ask for a fee: 200€ for the movers & truck for a half day.

I also need a platform lift to bring my stuff down from this apartment and up into the other place: 350€ for a half day
