first, tysm!! I appreciate the love. also i'm so bad at tumblr and didnt know how else to answer lol.

the "Alan" side is colored pencils glazed with alcohol markers, and the "Scratch" side is... just a pain in the ass. it broke my brain.

I used Saga's profile picture of Scratch and his jumpscare as references, sketched it in with a black colored pencil and went back in with ink and a black marker. white gel pen saved it, and the smoke distortion is white acrylic paint.

its a good exercise, and I know there's YouTube videos of people drawing in photo negative, but "ok the dark parts are light and the light parts are dark" really is the art equivalent of "rub your stomach and pat your head"
