After 2.5 years as an apprentice, I finally get the privileges of working on human canvas now. 2.5 years finding out what flux tastes like, learning the meaning and importance of RESPECT, and non-stop dedication purely to keeping the Legacy of tattooing alive. Learning who people like Bert Grimm, Earl Brown, Percy Waters, Spider Webb ( and getting to meet him personally), and So many other Incredible artists currently from all over the world who make this look easy. So much History behind tattooing that many have no idea about. There's truly so much vast knowledge, traditions, and different styles to learn. So here's a big thanks to Mike & Mary Skiver for even taking their time to teach me in the 1st place. Finally! After going on a bout 2.5 years into my apprenticeship I had the chance to tattoo this original #BertGrimmFlash piece on myself while my teacher @cmskiversr watching, coaching, critiquing, and making me laugh while working on myself. He had me do the entire outline in 1 line pass then wiped to see what lines stayed. Shockingly the lines stayed 😉 Then was onto 1 pass on the color. 💉 I was soooo nervous but was glad I did it on myself to understand what pulling a line feels like. Thennnn... Mike surprised me and let me freehand a teeny tiny flower with some red lightening on his Wife Mary's ankle! Talk about freaking / geeking out, lmao. I am so proud of this accomplishment in my apprenticeship, and I actually got cleared to start accepting and scheduling small tattoos to help build my portfolio with CLEAN Tattoos!! 😊 -$40 minimum and looking for minimalist pieces, childs name, little florals, all size tribals and some more! Well today was an incredible Father's Day spent with my extended family, my tattoo teacher @cmskiversr and his wife Mary! The top 3 pictures and 2 on both sides in the 2nd row are some of the practice tattoos I had done on fake skin! The bottom 3 photos are me doing My Very 1st tattoo on human skin, on myself today! Since I had started my art page in Jan. Of 2016 I have donated over 10 paintings resulting in over $1,000 with 100% proceeds going to Cancer and Non-Profit fundraisers. It is with the little bit I can do by making a difference With my Art is why I keep donating. Seeing someone's face not only light up, but well up with heart felt thankful tears by being so moved is what makes these donations so meaningful and truly dear to me. Tomorrow at the Relay For Life in Somerset, PA, I will have this - 16 x 20 Original painting finished on stretched canvas with over 16 different colored Cancer Ribbons, up for Silent Auction In Person tomorrow at the Relay. Bidding will start at $50 and go up in increments of $5. Highest bidder receives the painting, signed and dated by yours truly, and 100% of the proceeds goes straight to the American Cancer Society. - Also I will be doing Henna (temporary) tattoos and a Portion of Each Tattoo done will be donated to the American Cancer Society as well!
