this should be given as the synopsis for the book.
I love seeing the shock and disappointment from new readers of Dracula when they find out that Dracula basically makes a guest appearance at the beginning + end of the book and almost nowhere else. The rest is literally just a subtle homoerotic polycule between Van Helsing, Dr Seward, Lord Godalming and Quincey Morris.

what a mindfuck
As a teenager, I was a huge fan of Neil Gaiman. I bought the entire Sandman graphic novel series as well as a bunch of various novels or borrowed them from other people. When MeToo started and all of these guys that we thought were wholesome were outed as sexual predators, I, like so many other Gaiman fans, were certain he'd never be one of those people.
When the news about Neil Gaiman came out, I hoped it wasn't real. I waited to say anything about it because I wanted to be sure. But after reading the various things, I am just so fucking heartbroken.
Me and my siblings and cousins watched the Cosby Show reruns when we were kids/teens so when the shit about Cosby being a rapist came out I was like FFS. Then other guys like Kevin Spacey that I admired, etc etc. But I was able to move on/deal with it/etc.
Still, I thought, not Neil Gaiman, not him. He's just too cool/nice. I thought, of all the guys out there, Gaiman would have to be at the bottom of the list. I was so fucking certain of it, so to have to accept that ugliness about a man I thought was beautiful was an especially bitter pill.
So many of his books/graphic novels were beautiful and got me through some really hard times, and there were times when i was just astounded by this brilliant line or paragraph or idea of Gaiman's and wishing I was more like him.
Definitely not the case anymore, and if someone like Neil Gaiman can be like that, then it honestly makes me wonder what sorts of ugliness lurk in people that I think are beautiful (I mean beautiful in a mental/emotional/artistic way, not physically) and it's left me shaken in my faith in people.

what the fuck is even going on anymore. I knew nothing about the allegations, i found out because of a fucking YouTube react channel. I had to sift through Tumblr to find the information. Stand with the victims, and yall KEEP TALKING about this so it doesn't get suppressed. A lot of people I know don't even have any idea about the shitshow going on rn.
From what I know right now, atleast FIVE women have come forward with allegations against neil gaiman. Also these were not recent, one of the allegations said it occurred I think 40 YEARS AGO. with the information coming out it seems that he is a repeat offender. Even someone at the HUGO AWARDS made a comment about this. Right now no major news sites I know of have picked this up.
Please correct me if any information is incorrect

From The Rec Center:
For those who aren’t yet aware, Neil Gaiman was accused of sexual assault and misconduct by two young women earlier this month. This blog covers the allegations themselves (which are disturbing), while acknowledging the problematic nature of the original platform, a true crime podcast with ties to the British TERF movement. We're still hoping to see some further coverage from mainstream media outlets, because this story deserves more traction and there may well be other victims who want to come forward.
This article is written by a journalist who has a background in reporting on SA and working directly with victims. She offers a well rounded perspective on the situation, and the way it's been covered. The allegations are very disturbing to read, so please take care.
My personal thoughts are below, but the important note is that I believe the victims; I hope they stay safe, are able to continue to tell their stories and that people will listen to them.
Even though I didn't really follow his personal life, there's definitely still been a fannish parasocial relationship there. I really had to sit with that, and recognize that there was the thought of "I hope it's not true." That little seed of denial that needed to be confronted and plucked out.
Since I learned about the allegations, I've really been sitting with my own reaction to it. Because honestly, this was incredibly upsetting to learn about. I've loved his works since I was a kid, I've recommended his books and adaptions to friends, and I've been very active in the GO fandom since I joined Tumblr, and have definitely gained followers/mutuals though the fandom.
I say this because I think a lot of people are going through the same thing, and maybe feel frustrated or angry or guilty about it. Like, in a way, it's grief: we've lost the creator and person we thought we had. For me, this is the one that hurt. So if you're in a similar position, we need to take care that our grief doesn't turn into denial, or willful ignorance.
I'm sure it's apparent that I'm still working through my thoughts/feelings on this, but again I think its something that needs to be addressed. So at the moment, I don't know if or how I'll be interacting with his works or connected fandoms moving forward, and I'm not going to tell anyone what I think they should do either.
What's important now is that we don't let this die or blow over. Believe the victims and uplift their stories, call for Gaiman to respond (his silence so far had been deafening), and call for news outlets that cover his works/adaptions to cover the allegations.
#I just found out about this#and I feel even more dissappointed#It took me by surprise because of all the authors/people to be accused of sexual assault I did not expect him to be one of them#I’ve been a fan of his works for years now#I was taken aback at first#But I suppose this shows how deceiving some people are#neil gaiman allegations

OP your point is pretty interesting and I definitely agree with you!
Ok ok ok SO!
I think everyone has realized that Leola was autistic. It was heavily implied both through the flashback images and Aaravos' narration-
She lined up her toys, flapped her hands (it was also shown in the trial scene), seemed to be sensitive towards loud sounds (like the other startouch elves when they talked), and walked on her tiptoes. All of those are classic signs of autism.
But there's one thing I haven't seen anyone else bring up, and that's that her giving her human friends magic and breaking the "cosmic order" or whatever could also be because of her neurotype!
Autistic people tend to have very strict senses of morality and fairness, and will disregard rules if they don't fit their idea of right or wrong. Personal example here, I used to constantly do things I was told not to because I thought the rules in question were bogus.
It's not hard to guess that Leola would find the rules about humans not having magic to be unfair- after all, her and all the other elves, and even the animals around them are full of it! So in the mind of an autistic child, this would be incredibly unfair. And she had the power to "fix" the situation! So why wouldn't she?
Why wouldn't she try to help her friends? Because it would break the cosmic order? That's vague as hell and she was a KID!
And the startouch elves atomized her, for breaking a rule she probably only half understood and thought was stupid. Because she was autistic.
Had this thought and wanted to share, makes the whole thing even more tragic.
#tdp#the dragon prince#Cosmic council is just ableist#poor Aaravos#but did they really have to describe her as “quirky”

this makes a lot of sense OP, and I completely agree with your opinion.
to those arguing that the Rumbling occurred because Eren was trapped in that decision, and it was the pre-decided turn of events which forced him to take that action are wrong. It is because of Eren as a character that the rumbling occurred, the timeline is fixed, but it’s not as if Eren was against the rumbling and was forced to do it, unable to stop his future self’s actions. He wanted to do the rumbling, and as OP said Eren will always decide to do the rumbling, not only because the world pushes him towards that action, but he is also that type of person.
It’s his own nature which made it a self-fulfilling prophecy.
ErenJaeger is not a slave, except to himself.
So uh this is my take on the whole fate/destiny, future is set, Erin can't change anything, Erin is a slave thing. Basically, My view is that its not so much that the time line is set and Eren can do anything to change his own actions, like he's a puppet being controlled by Ymir or something; rather, the actions Eren takes are set because of who Eren is. Or, the circumstances are such that Eren will always make the decision to do the rumbling, because the world pushes him towards that action. Its not that he literally has no agency and cant choose otherwise but that the person he is will always choose to sacrifice the world to save Paradis if he's pushed to that.
I hope that makes sense... It's like if you have to choose between oatmeal and a bagel for breakfast and you hate oatmeal. You're gonna choose the bagel. not because your being controlled and have no agency but just because the person you are cant stomach oatmeal.
So the time line is fixed because basically everyone is trapped in acting in accordance with who they are in this same way. (note: I don't mean that everyone is being their true *authentic self, acting in accordance with who they are can mean not being their authentic self because the pull to conform and not stick out is stronger for them, or it could mean being extra weird than they actually would be otherwise because they dislike being though of as normal or boring.)

Genocide is wrong people. I don’t understand why or how you would justify it, the only justification I have heard (which is not valid) is thinking Eren is hot and supporting his actions no matter what he does.

DO NOT BUY THIS EDITION OF FRANKENSTEIN! This is a sexist and ignorant dog whistle and as a fan of the actual Frankenstein novel, I am furious.
1. First there is the false implication that Percy Shelley co-wrote Frankenstein. He did not. In fact Mary Shelley revised the 1818 text in 1831. That's AFTER Percy's Death.
This sexism was brought to you by such "reliable" books as "The Man who wrote Frankenstein" which was written by a very sexist conspiracy theorist who once claimed that AIDS was spread through pills. That conspiracy theorist used dummy accounts to positively review his self-published books on Amazon (seriously, go check if you want) and his main reason for believing Mary Shelley didn't really write Frankenstein is his claim that she was "uneducated."
Percy wasn't a novelist. He was a poet. Mary Shelley actually wrote many novels after Frankenstein, it's just that none were as successful as Frankenstein. Just because she wrote her greatest novel while her husband was alive doesn't mean her husband secretly wrote it.
He also claimed a woman cannot have written a man's perspective so well and she wrote from the perspective of three men. Victor Frankenstein, The Creature, and Captain Walton.
By that same reasoning Stan Rice must have written Interview with The Vampire, not Anne. It's a sexist and classist equivalent of the classist conspiracy theories that Shakespeare couldn't have written Shakespeare because he was "Too poor and ill-educated" to have been that creative.
2. One big problem with novels like Frankenstein and Dracula being in the public domain is anyone can re-publish them any way they want, even with this sleezy and misleading presentation.
3. Frankenstein wasn't really a science fiction novel even though Google and this blurb claim it is. Frankenstein, the novel, never warned about the advancement of technology.
There's no hard science in the book. Victor wasn't studying biology. He was studying metaphysics and he never graduated.
(Metaphysics degrees aren't even currently recognized in the US. You can only get an honorary one from institutions like ULC).
Victor found the secret of life while reading the works of Agrippa and Paracelsus. A self-proclaimed sorcerer and alchemist.
The Creature is more like a Dungeons and Dragons Flesh Golem with a soul than what you see in most of the movies.
Its main morals and themes had nothing to do with "Playing God" or "the advancement of science." No. That overly exonerates Victor Frankenstein and those The Creature interacted with. Victor's main crime was rejecting his creation as soon as he came to life, which may have been a metaphor for what we today call Postpartum depression.
The themes were about parental responsibility, the futility of revenge, and the need to forgive.
If you have a shred of integrity or respect for women do NOT buy this edition of Frankenstein that falsely credits Percy Shelley and feels like it was being described by someone who only watched the 1931 movie. (The more accurate to the book film adaptation is the 2004 Hallmark mini-series version starring Luke Goss as The Creature.) If you want a good edition of Frankenstein, I strongly recommend the 1831 version republished with Bernie Wrightson's gorgeous illustrations accompanying it. That one is exceptional and respectful to Mary Shelley without falsely crediting Percy Shelley.
Here's the blurb that was attached to the awful edition:
"That’s right, the very first science fiction novel is also a work of transhumanism, though I’m not sure Mary Shelley would have used the term. After all, the monster wouldn’t even exist without technology. So even the earliest sci-fi novel was trying to warn us about the dangers technology poses to our humanity."
