Guildtober Day 31 - Happy Halloween!

Who's surprised I didn't catch up by Halloween lol

I decided to keep it simple (bc I still don't have wifi so I can't upload from my laptop and so have to from my phone) and picked an obvious group costume choice that'd make sense in black and white: OFF! It was super fun figuring out how to do the different costumes on each of the Guild members, and this angle was both tricky but super fun

I'll catch up to the prompts eventually, and one year I'll stay on top of them again lol

Guildtober Day 13 - Yung・Min

A fashion ad this time for the brand Yung・Min in an admittedly very chill outfit for the brand (since I didn't have my references for their inspirations lol)

Guildtober Day 12 - Beastiant

Last one for the night! This one is kind of a toy ad concept for a Pokemon/Digimon fusion that's toy concept is based on being able to take them apart and combine them together into new fusions to make them stronger. The action figures would function via magnets or bits you could lock into place, while I think plushies would work via velcro

Guildtober Day 11 - MOTHER OF SAND (2021)

Another concept album by the musicians of Beverly Hills! This one's about a cult in a desert and the struggles of the people within it as they go back and forth on their beliefs and the control the matriarch of the cult has over them. It's not as concrete as Gothamite or Be Good to Yourself is as I've only recently started coming up with songs for the playlist for it, but I am getting some ideas

Guildtober Day 10 - Rave In Paris

I got hit with a real bad migraine out of nowhere so my descriptions tonight are gonna be short but I got some doodles finished up at least

First one up tonight is Rave In Paris aka RIP! He's an electronic musician who typically collabs with other musicians (most notably Wyldfire who I've done some art of in the past.) He's a normal human but does a fun disguise thing to give himself that fun look and also sometimes he lets Cathode (the TV head lady I doodle sometimes) be his roommate

Also I forgot but his name is Rave in Paris/RIP so I could give Muse shirts that say RIP bc haha skeleton joke lol

Guildtober Day 9 - 48 Death Race (2016)

Now if we REALLY wanna talk about fake media I've come up with that I adore and wish was real, OH BABY

Genuinely I would pay real money for someone to make 48 Death Race a real movie because I genuinely think it would be so good. All I'm gonna give you is that it was, no joke, entirely inspired by this silly youtube video, and the best way I can think to describe it is Speed Racer meets Train to Busan and I'm not gonna explain it further than that because I haven't seen either of those movies but I feel like the vibes hit lol

Also, fun fact, this is canonically Muse's favorite movie and he is correct

Guildtober Day 8 - Be Good to Yourself

One of the newest additions to the Beverly Hills/Writer's Guild media and also one of my personal newest favorites! It's a jukebox musical with all the music being Journey songs and the short version is that it's set in the 1950s and about a woman who gets cheated on and summons a demon to bring everyone down with her on her spiral over it

I freaking love it so much and the amount of notes I have over it is bonkers lol

(It also has a playlist bc of course it does, most things I make do)

Guildtober Day 7 - All the Boys Are In Love With Me

I made fake panels for this one because I wanted to make a meme that would be used in universe from the manga of this one (the concept of it is one of my favorite tropes where two characters who hate each other have crushes on the MC which I'm a sucker for, or at least that's how I play romance novels lol)

Guildtober Day 6 - Gothamite (2017)

Yes I did both sides of the CD case and yes it's because I've had the entire playlist figured out since 2017 with equivalent songs picked out in a Youtube playlist for it I'm so glad you asked because IT'S A BATMAN CONCEPT ALBUM OF COURSE I DID

Each song for the most part is a different character sung by a different musician from Beverly Hills, with the exception of a handful done by the same musician since he's supposed to represent Batman. Obviously most others are by villains, but we've also got ones for Robin and Batgirl (keeping it ambiguous bc I both think it's obvious and also it's fun to guess), but then there's the finale (The Gothamite) which is actually supposed to be in the perspective of a citizen/citizens but in a way similar to the end of the Killing Joke because I felt that was more interesting/imposing of an end

Gosh I just love this thing so much

Guildtober Day 4 - Harlequin

I could go on and on about this one because oh my GOSH I love the premise for this one so much, but I'll try to keep it brief because it's not important and actually is thematically relevant to a side story I'll write for the comic at some point and will get expanded there

In any case: Harlequin! Aka "A Man Walks Into a Courthouse" which was it's alternative name until I decided to make the title a reference to "'Repent, Harlequin!' Said the Ticktockman" because I adore that story with all my heart. It's essentially Writer's Guild's version of Watchmen (another reason for the title, since that title is also a literary/phrase reference. The parallels.)

Harlequin, however, was published in universe during roughly 2002-2003 so doesn't have the context of the Cold War as it's backdrop like Watchmen did being in the 80s, but conceptually dealt with the issues following the events of 2001. Of course, that's just the backdrop and what impacts it on a subconscious level as the story is an alternative reality/dystopian setting where all crime is legal as long as it's funny, with the "hero" (I don't have names for anyone lol) seeking to stop the villains and bring justice because he thinks it's all corrupt and wrong.

The overall conceit of the story from the writer is actually his commentary/critique on the direction the comic industry had been taking during the 80s-90s, where everything started getting darker and less fun. The "hero" in this sense is trying to take down the villains via bringing his own version of darkness to the world that makes things more dour, even if he doesn't realize it -- essentially the opposite of the goals of the Harlequin in "Repent, Harlequin"

I could probably go on and on about this, I just love the concept so much but I do not have the tact or knowledge to write it lol

Guildtober Day 3 - Black Shark & Wood Gator in the Mornings

Morning radio talk show banner/billboard! Very simple, but fun. I've had this one/these guys as a background idea for ages ever since I got them as figurines several years back (roughly 2017-2018 I think?) when I was down in Florida and thought it'd be fun to make them into radio show hosts

Guildtober Day 2 - Polter-Heist (2013)

I know I'm a day behind but I have excuses I'll explain later lol

But this one is a movie poster! I'm admittedly half awake right now trying to finish it so bear with me as I explain it lol

The concept is that a group of thieves died trying to steal something from a museum, and the only way they can move on is to finish the job. However, there's a duo of a cop and paranormal investigator trying to stop them. It's very high action spectacle and theatrics with a bit of comedy a la Now You See Me which was my main inspiration.

(If anyone can guess the original actors/actresses that my friend and I knocked off the names of used as inspiration I will be highly impressed because it means you also see the vision)

Guildtober Day 1 - Cry Baby Cry

It begins again! Only a few weeks after finally finishing last years lol

But this year's is going back to the normal style of ink and gradients, though the theme is different! We're doing media within the world of Writer's Guild/Beverly Hills/Blank Nation because I feel like doing design work and making stuff for background details. This first one is an album by one of Muse's favorite bands called Cry Baby Cry, which is actually going to make an appearance as a jacket also in the comic during the backstory arc which is fun

I also wanted to say real quick that I am planning to make an update about the state of the comic and everything related to it soon (probably this week/weekend) because everything's been on hiatus for so long. I'd very much like to get back to things, and I hope I can come November-December, but I'll explain why things have been how they are in that update when it posts in further detail

But anyway, happy Guildtober start!

This was just a little warm up doodle while my tablet pen charged

It's...a little wild to me that it's been four years since I've posted a drawing of Dante on here. I don't want to blame it entirely on the environment I was in making me not want to draw him because I'm pretty sure I was still drawing him, but I can't remember any drawings I was doing of him. But when the people around you that know about him are telling you how much they hate him every time you mention him, it kind of makes you subconsciously distance yourself from your own character.

Which really sucks, especially when it's coming from people you thought were your friends and when it's a character that's so responsible for you learning so much about yourself through them that they become basically intertwined with yourself.

Idk, I don't worry about those people anymore and my boy remains here, such a part of me
