Alphonse Elric character song “I AM HERE” - Lyrics + Translation
Uh, this song is like super old, but I was just discussing it and it’s a song that I can translate really quickly, so I figured why not? Literally took half an hour, as I predicted. And that’s including multitasking.
Oh yeah, and the reason the title is in all caps is because the Japanese title of the song, Boku wa Ima Koko ni Iru, is written entirely in katakana for some reason. Also, since I don’t have enough translation notes to make a separate post, “ittai” isn’t really necessarily equivalent to swearing, but I went with “hell” anyway to amplify the Edgy Teen Existential Crisis™ feeling, mostly because I thought it was funny. Also because nobody says “what in the world” unless they want to sound like a huge dork.
Anyway here ya go. This song, in case you can’t tell, is related to the events of the Lab 5 arc and just after.
English
On a sleepless night, I run away from the room I look up at the sky and feel the breeze Clear out your ears, focus your eyes
If this landscape and wind Are someone’s artificial creations, Then is the “me” who is here right now Artificial too?
Even though I ask this question, no matter how much I search, There is no answer to be found.
To fill in this broken puzzle, Even if I gather the fragments of memories, What’s been lost cannot be found.
If these memories and recollections Aren’t real, Then these feelings I’m feeling right now What the hell are they?!
Even if I sharpen the darkness, There is no answer to be found.
The blue sky, the sound of the wind, the warmth of the grass The sunset, the starry sky, smiles
If these memories and recollections Aren’t real Then the “me” who is here right now Who the hell am I?!
If this world, and everything in it Is someone’s artificially created world Then the “me” who is here right now What the hell am I?!
Even if I face the sky and ask these questions, The answers aren’t here. I am here now.

この風景がこの風が 誰かの作り物としたら 今ここに居るこの僕も 作り物なのか
問いかけて探してみても 答え何処にもない

この記憶が思い出が 本当のものじゃないとしたら 今感じてるこの気持ち いったいなんなの

Hikaru no Go fan song “AWAY” - Translation notes + Thoughts
Lyrics + video
MAJOR SPOILERS BELOW
This song is so sad ;3; It’s meant to be from Hikaru’s perspective, reflecting on Sai and his disappearance. This song has a somewhat different lyrics structure from the usual catchy anime opening type songs, and since it’s such an emotional song, I was a bit more liberal with my translation than I would usually be. The idea was that I wanted it to sound poetic, and not as stiff as if I actually translated everything directly. That being said, I tried my best to convey the original meaning as much as possible.
Translation notes:
会いたい “I miss you” - Technically,  会いたい means “I want to see you/meet with you”. But that would sound weird in English. It’s generally fine to translate it as “I miss you’ because it pretty much conveys the same meaning.
今はどこかへ消え去ってしまい…… “Has now gone and dissap...” - This was a bit tricky, but I took “しまい……” to be part of “しまいました”. I can’t imagine what other meaning it would have, but I suppose there could be one, hypothetically. Take it as you will.
君が笑顔でいてくれたらいいな ボクは願うよ “I hope you were smiling” - A literal translation of this line would be “If you were smiling that’s good, that is my hope”. Of course I wouldn’t translate it that literally under any circumstances, so this is just here for the sake of language learners who might see that line and get confused.
Also, there are a few instances where the lyrics are written with certain kanji but pronounced another way. These are:
一歩 “Michi” - Kanji means “one step” or “a little bit”, normally pronounced “ippo”. “Michi” means “road”.
道 “Mirai” - Kanji means “road” and as a word would normally be pronounced “michi”. “Mirai” means “future”.
時 “Hi” - Kanji means “time” and as a word is usually pronounced “toki” in most cases. “Hi” means “day”.

Hikaru no Go fan tribute song “AWAY” - Lyrics
A special treat for Hikaru no Go day! I found this by pure chance back in November when I was looking for a certain Vocaloid song (which I never found, sadly) and I’m so glad I found it, because it’s amazing!
Video here: http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm27691598
Song by G.T. Works circle. Lyrics by Assagaori, composition by Ugo-P, arrangement by Toshinori Orikura, mixing/mastering by Shibayan, illustration by 牧 (not sure of the reading- I think maybe Hanako?), logo and video by Keyno. Vocals featuring Hatsune Miku, Kagamine Rin, and Megurine Luka.
MAJOR spoilers if you haven’t read/seen chapter 125/episode 60. Lyrics under the cut. Lyrics in italics appear in the video, but aren’t sung.
English
Hey, how are you? I hope you're doing well...
Where are you right now, I wonder? How's it going, I wonder?
I miss you I want to see you and talk with you I want you to listen to what I have to say
I miss you I just want to see you.
Miss you
There's no way I'll stop walking, little by little, this path I'm on now I'm taking hold of the future we aimed for back then
I thought having you beside me was natural Then suddenly, you were gone, and I kept searching for you Even though you were nowhere to be found, I kept searching And then I realized, in what I had lost, our future we created together Has now gone and dissap...
We fight over the same path to the future Even loners must continue to walk on their own, I guess When I lost you, without understanding a single thing, Painful tears of mourning spilled over
The sands of the hourglass of fate flow mercilessly Stealing time, stealing you away from me
Where are you? Hey, can you... hear my voice right now? You weren't lonely, were you? I hope you were smiling
The fragments of sadness you created Back then, I couldn't grasp hold of them “It's been fun, thank you” are the words you left behind in the end I hold those words close to my heart, so you might live on
That day when you first spoke to me I truly hadn't yet found anything The path to the future you and I found together (I thought having you beside me was natural) (Then suddenly, you were gone, and I kept searching for you) I'll keep walking it by myself now, I'm sure you'll be there (Even though you were nowhere to be found, I kept searching) (And then I realized, in what I had lost, our future we created together) (Has now gone and dissap...)

FMA: Sacred Star of Milos opening song “Chasing Hearts” - Lyrics
Performed by Miwa. Uh, I’ve actually had this translated for a while. No translation notes this time because I really have nothing to say other than that I was really surprised by how bitter and melancholy this turned out to be...
English
Holding my hand up to the blue sky Summer clouds smile from between the cracks
You call out from behind me Looking at me with a smile that’s more innocent than usual
How many times since then would we be hurt by the passing of time? Yet still, we continue walking, continue searching
Running barefoot, the two of us laughed together Looking back for only a moment at the future we painted in far-off memories What’s reflected in my eyes, what’s reflected in your eyes Surely they’re one and the same The wind caresses my cheek
(Get back look back… chasing hearts)
The tune playing on the radio You hummed it once, and it’s making me nostalgic
Between then and now, I guess something changed somehow With doubts and loss, will we become distant? Will we come to hate each other?
We run across the beach, I see your figure from behind Wait a minute, don’t go! If I reach out my hand, can I still reach you? What’s in your heart, and what’s in my heart I’m sure they must be the same I want to hold you tight
Your favorite saying was becoming my favorite saying Your walking speed was becoming my pace I just noticed these, these deep feelings As long as you’re here, that’s all I need…
Running barefoot, the two of us laughed together Looking back for only a moment at the future we painted in far-off memories What’s reflected in my eyes, what’s reflected in your eyes Because surely they’re one and the same Don’t change Let’s not part, ever
(Get back look back… chasing hearts)

Motherland thoughts/translation notes
Lyrics
Another song that’s been sitting in my drafts for months because I was too lazy to post it, whoops
Anyway, that’s right, it’s the ending that was infamously dubbed the “fanservice ending” back in the days of the 2003 anime. Despite the slightly uncomfortable animation (Winry, please... stop shoving your boobs in the camera... please), I feel like the fact that the ending showed just Winry and Den was very fitting for this song. It really is a song about Winry’s feelings, I think. It’s a little unusual for an anime ending, but it really grows on you, and can be quite relaxing. Also reminds me of Christmas for some reason I still can’t pinpoint.
Translation notes
“愛を信じるのは自分にも負けないこと” “Believing in love means not giving in to yourself” - I’ve seen this one translated as “not giving up on yourself”, but somehow that didn’t quite feel right. “負ける” means “to lose” (as in to lose a game), and the particle に seems like it means the “yourself” is the thing you’re “losing” to... Of course, losing to yourself doesn’t make a lot of sense, so I tried to think about the broader overall implications of the line and the song as a whole. I thought maybe that it’s about how love involves making sacrifices and making an effort for the one you love, so maybe “losing to yourself” means giving in to your own selfish desires. So that’s why I went with “giving in to yourself”.
This one has pretty straightforward and easy to understand lyrics (I’m doing these in order of ease of translation can u tell), so uh, that’s actually really the only line I have anything to say about this time. Though I guess that’s a good thing, right? Means I’m confident in my translations, or whatever...

FMA 2003 ending song “Motherland” - Lyrics
Third ending song from the original Fullmetal Alchemist anime, performed by Crystal Kay. Interesting fact about the artist: Crystal Kay is mixed race Japanese, with a Korean mother and an African American father, and speaks both Japanese and English fluently. I actually didn’t know that until I looked her up on Wikipedia, because while translating this, somehow I got the feeling that it was written by someone who also speaks English fluently... I can’t even pinpoint why I felt that way, but my suspicion was correct! Anyway, the lyrics.
Translation notes
English
On the day you left for your journey, Like always, I said “See ya later” and waved As if tomorrow, in this very town, I might see you again
Believing in love means Not giving in to yourself Until the day my dream comes true, I’ll smile like usual, and wish upon the stars Because I’m here
I want to be your sky And wrap up even your sadness Whenever you look up, you’re not alone So even when it seems far away You have somewhere to come home to
With you out of town, I’m still going about my business as cheerfully as ever Because I think That’s what I can do for now
No matter what happens, There’s always some hidden meaning Even if my dream disappears, I want to always be myself, no matter what Because I’m here
It’s ok if you’re not strong enough to hold back your tears Go ahead and rest your weary heart Fall asleep while wishing for a wonderful tomorrow Like a small child
This wide world is all connected The white clouds become the wind That blows towards you
Has my voice reached you? I couldn’t put my overflowing feelings into words I want to be your sky And wrap up even your sadness Whenever you look up, you’re not alone So even when it seems far away You have somewhere to come home to

Lie thoughts/translation notes
Lyrics
I recently got the Fullmetal Alchemist The Best CD, AKA the CD With every FMA anime openings/endings on it (Not to be confused with Fullmetal Alchemist Complete Best, which ironically only has the 2003 anime songs on it). I plan on eventually translating every song on the CD, in no particular order, so what better to kick it all off with then the song my blog title comes from?
This song has always been very bittersweet to me, especially in regards to the second-to-last chorus (the one that DOESN’T start off with “The sky we saw that day”); I of course tend to think of FMA songs in the context of the characters, and the idea of the Elric brothers splitting up has always been extremely upsetting to me, so that part just breaks my heart. And yet somehow, this song has always been very calming to me.
Honestly, it seems to be a weird, subdued kind of sad. Like it’s passively sad, or sad in hindsight. The easygoing composition combined with the lyrics tends to give me the impression that the singer is talking about something sad that happened, but ultimately they’ve accepted. Like instead of being “We’ll never meet again waaah my life is over I am so very sad” it’s more “I guess we’ll never see each other again. That’s unfortunate. Oh well, c’est la vie.” I dunno, maybe none of this makes sense, but that’s how I see it.
On a side note, I did most of this translation in one sitting, late at night with a headache. Why? How? Why can’t I get things done like this normally? Wtf...
Translation notes
“茜色の空” “That deep red sky” - Akaneiro apparently actually translates to madder red, but I didn’t think that was a very well-known English term (I certainly hadn’t heard it before), so I went with “deep red” instead. If you do a Google image search for 茜色, most of the results are beautiful images of very red sunsets/sunrises, much like in the song. Try it for yourself, they’re really gorgeous!
“嘘は嫌いで好き” “I like it because I hate lies” - Not entirely sure about this one. で is a tricky particle sometimes.
“So it’s bye-bye for us” “だから僕らさよなら” - There are a multitude of ways this could be translated, but this line always stood out to me the most. The simple language of it (the line literally translates to “So we goodbye”) gives it a lot of impact, imo, so I tried to replicate that in my translation.

FMA: Brotherhood ending song “Lie” - Lyrics
AKA (and perhaps better known as) 嘘, Uso. The first ending theme for Brotherhood, performed by Sid. Notable for being the only ending theme in either FMA anime to feature a male vocalist.
Translation notes
English
The sky we saw that day, that deep red sky Hey, do you remember it? Sworn to a promise, and enveloped in the early summer breeze The two of us snuggled close
Hidden on the other side of a forced smile A shadow stretched out And so, pretending not to notice, I choose rebirth
Waiting for unwavering news on top of the table Even the empty night, and the morning I didn’t think would come; I understood everything
The sky we saw that day, that deep red sky Hey, you forgot it, didn’t you? Sworn to a promise, and vanishing in the early summer breeze The two of us couldn’t turn back
Sounds, colors, and the temperature Were all split in two in this room Scattered in disarray once again today Shaking, fatigue, going to sleep
“Won’t you skillfully trick me? I like it because I hate lies,” those were your words The feelings I get around now tend to hurt, So it’s bye-bye for us
We said “See you around someday” and joined hands, but Now we can’t meet again, can we? That final lie was a lie of kindness I haven’t forgotten it
The sky we saw that day, that deep red sky Hey, will you remember it someday, maybe? Embracing the promise we couldn’t keep, The two of us set out

Flower of the Heart Thoughts/Translation notes
Lyrics
I kind of owe you guys a bit of an apology; Apparently, I had this translation all finished and ready to post on my computer for over half a year and forgot about it. Whoops. :’D I didn’t even realize I had had the Broken Angel OST for that long... how time flies.
So this is basically the cheesiest song ever. As if the title isn’t bad enough, the context it appears in in the game is really weird... After Armony somehow convinces Ed to teach her alchemy, there’s just this random montage of images of her and the Elric brothers being all cheesy happy salad stock photo while this song plays. Go ahead and see for yourself.  (My translation is more accurate though, tbh the official translation of Broken Angel as a whole was kinda... off :/) Still though, it’s a nice song.
As far as the lyrics go, I don’t have much to say about this. It’s one of the simplest things I’ve ever translated, so it went by really quickly and there’s not a lot to discuss. It should be noted, though, that those lines in English at the beginning were not actually included in the lyrics booklet, so I had to guess at them by ear. I’m pretty confident I got them right, but there’s still a chance I didn’t.
On a side note, on a whim I was going to translate the singer’s comment on the song, but the grammar was way more complex (@ Japan why do you love run-on sentences so much) and then my computer crashed halfway through translating it, so I changed my mind. Oh well! Maybe another time.

FMA: Broken Angel OST song “Flower of the Heart” - Lyrics
AKA 心の花, Kokoro no Hana. This song plays during the Elrics + Armony montage in the middle of the game.
Translation notes
English
(Why don't you let me know) (Just why you saved my heart)
Though I didn't see you yesterday, I dreamed about you It was night in the town, all I could see was just your radiance
You taught me something in my dream, and talked of a flower blooming in my heart I finally understood the meaning of the bud that first sprouted when I met you
I want to divide up your strength into newborn beauty Spread out the vast sky with two hands So I can hold it out, so I can take hold of it So I can see you again someday...

Eyes of Heaven story trailer 2 partial translation
Found this trailer on YouTube last night and since it conveniently included text boxes, I decided to translate it just for fun. Here it is.
Jotaro: Yare yare. Polnareff, what is it? What's happening?
Avdol: Don't run away... Iggy: Grrrr!
Kakyoin: U-ugh... where am I..? Jotaro? Kakyoin: That's right! Dio! Dio's ability! I saw through his trick! Joseph: Calm down, Kakyoin. The battle with Dio is already over. Joseph: (To Speedwagon) What'd you do to Kakyoin just now? What the hell just happened?! Speedwagon: This is something called “Sacred Remains” *. Polnareff: “Sacred Remains”? Speedwagon: I'll get right to the point. Help me collect the Sacred Remains!
Polnareff: It makes me happy to think that Avdol and Iggy might come back. And I never thought we'd all get to travel together again... Jotaro: Yare yare da ze...
This is a tale of defying reality.
Translation notes + some extra translations under the cut:
*Regarding the “sacred remains”: Obviously the first thing one might think is that they’re the corpse parts from part 7. (As a disclaimer, I currently haven’t read beyond part 3, since I’m a little new to the fandom and just haven’t gotten there yet.) I chose to translate it a little differently, because I looked on the wiki and the term they used to refer to the corpse parts is slightly different from what Speedwagon says in the trailer. Also, maybe this is just me, but I get the feeling it’s supposed to be something slightly different in the game. You know, alternate universes, or whatever. But please interpret it as you like. I also initially went for “holy remains” but that brought to mind Holy Kujo and that was just a very uncomfortable mental image so yeh
I did not translate the dialogue at the end of the trailer because I’m still learning Japanese, and it’s hard for me to translate things without captions because I can’t make out what’s being said very well. Even more so here, with so many people talking at once, and I can’t even tell who’s talking a lot of the time due to the way they made the trailer. I did manage to catch a few things, though, so here they are. (Question marks indicate where I’m not entirely certain who’s speaking)
Oldesph: Is that me?! Youngseph: What’d you say?!
Kira (?): Whatever may happen, it doesn’t matter.
Johnny (?): I understand... Jonathan.
Jotaro: This presence... It can’t be..!

Map of Dio’s mansion from part 3, surprised I couldn’t find this translated anywhere. Sorry for the blurry lines by the way, the program I used to scale up the scans has a tendency to give a watercolor-like effect, but I was too lazy to find an alternative :P
Translation notes:
Jotaro and co. escaped from D’Arby’s room into the wine cellar.
Polnareff and Iggy encountered Vanilla Ice in the billiard room, then ran up the stairs into the second floor gallery.
The first floor bathrooms were labeled “トイレ”, while the upstairs ones are “バスルーム”, which leads me to suspect the first floor bathrooms may be half baths (aka bathrooms without a bathtub/shower) while the upstairs ones are full baths.
Not sure if the “worship room” is meant to be like a chapel, or a room in which Dio’s groupies worship him. My translation is pretty literal, so I really can’t tell.
The “dressing room” is presumably some sort of large closet where Dio keeps all his crotchless pants and pretty heart tiaras and all that.

FMA: Omoide no Sonata (Shitty translation) - Part 5
So they go to the barn on the edge of Resembool and there are some freaky looking... I don’t know... melon golems? I honestly have no idea what these are supposed to be. Damn GBA graphics. But anyway there’s three things surrounding the door to the barn.
Ed: Heeeey. What’s going on?
Oh it looks like they’re guys. Three identical dudes with black hair and I guess green jackets, I assume those are jackets anyway. The mystery guys, who were previously facing the barn door, turn towards Ed and friends.
Mystery guys: .......... Ed: We heard someone’s hurt here. Can we come in? Winry: (Something I don’t understand but she seems to be talking to the mystery guys) Al: I think we threw them off their guard. (Note: I have no idea if this translation is anywhere near correct but I tried) Winry: Reeeeally? Al: (Seems started) ...Probably. Winry: Huh... That’s ok. Ed: (Approaching the mystery guys) Giving us the silent treatment, huh?
One of the mystery guys gets a little closer and speaks really slowly. Tbh this reminds me a lot of the scene at the entrance to the cave in Curse of the Crimson Elixir... but anyway
Mystery guy: Bastards... who are you... Ed: Now you’re talking(?)! Then let’s settle this. We’re from this village. Mystery guy: (Anime “tch” thing) We’ll take care of you!
All three guys run up to Ed. Al and Winry are kinda hanging back btw.
Ed: Aha, (something I don’t understand)! You’re pretty hot-blooded, huh? Winry: Huh?! Ed: Winry, get back. Winry: S-sure.
Winry backs up, Al steps forward and the first battle of the game begins! Dialogue as they’re starting the battle:
Ed: Geez, what’s with these guys? Al: Brother, don’t get careless(?)! Do you have a battle plan?
You have the option to pick “yes” or “no”. FUCK MAN I DIDN’T KNOW THIS WAS GONNA HAVE MULTIPLE CHOICE OPTIONS WTF... THIS IS TOO MUCH RESPONSIBILITY FOR ME TO HANDLE... Uhhhh I’ll just pick yes. Actually now that I think about it, this might be where you get a tutorial if you pick no. I’ve played the first game so I know how the battle system works, so I’ll pick yes.
Ed: I got ittttttt! Al: If you don’t get it, go to the alchemy research lab in East City, and then you’ll know. (Note: ???????????)
Now they fight. And it turns out the battle system IS a little different, so maybe I should’ve listened to Al... Ah well. I’ll figure it out as I go along, I guess. Or go to East City, apparently...
After the battle
Mystery guy: ...!
The mystery guys leave.
Winry: ....... Al: Winry, Winry. Are you ok? Winry: ...Huh? Oh, I’m fine. It’s my first time in a situation like this, so I’m a little ??? (Can’t make out the kanji) is all. Ed: ......... Ed: (Something I can’t understand) Winry: I said I’m fine! The fight’s over, so there’s no problem. The injured people, the injured people!
Winry goes over to the barn but then turns back towards the Elrics for a moment.
Winry: You guys are used to fighting, huh. ...Is it always like that? Al: N-no way! Not like that! Winry: You’re affiliated with the military. That’s a dangerous thing... Al: But it’s not like that(?). Isn’t that right, brother? Ed: Um, uh, yeah, that’s right... Ed: Hm... Who’s that girl..?
The camera moves to the left and someone runs across the screen, I think it was the person I’d been calling “Waya”, but I’m not sure.
Al: She’s... not from the village, is she? Winry: You’re right, that doesn’t look like someone from town. But earlier(?)... Ed: That’s suspicious. Could she be with those guys from before, maybe? Al: Brother. Forget about that, right now we have to see about the injured people. Ed: Oops, I forgot our goal...
Then they go inside.

FMA: Omoide no Sonata (Shitty translation) - Part 4: At Winry’s house
Winry: Have you been doing your maintenance?
Ed: Uh... Well, as much as I can. Right, Al? Al: Y-yeah. Winry: (Exasperated) Really(?)?! This is my supreme masterpiece, so it’s important! Ed: I know. ...It’s important automail, so please give it your best maintenance job(?). Winry: Roger that!
Then Ed spins around in a circle and magically all his clothes are gone, wtf :’D Reminds me of a Pokemon contest. Anyway.
Winry: There was one of the usual bombings in a town while I was there on a service call recently. Ed: What?! Winry: They targeted a military building. But the townspeople got wrapped up in it anyway, and people were killed. Al: Winry, were you hurt at all? Winry: No, I was fine. ...Hey, Ed, Al. Ed: W-what is it? Winry: State alchemists... are part of the military too... right? Ed: R-right. Well, that’s the way it is... Winry: You two have to be careful too... Although you guys do crazy stuff even without the bombings(?)! Ed: Y-yeah... Al: I make sure brother doesn’t do anything too reckless, so don’t worry, Winry. Winry: I know I can count on you, Al(?)! If Ed were left alone, who know’s what kind of a mess he’d make! Ed: (Grumpy) (Anime “tch” thing) That’s nice, now hurry up and finish the maintenance. Winry: All done. Go ahead and move it around. Ed: Well that was fast.
Ed does some stretches or whatever to make sure his arm works properly
Ed: Yeah, it feels great! Winry: Of course. So make sure you come home for regular maintenance! Ed: Yes ma’am! (Blushing) ...You’re always mean to me, Winry(?). Winry: That’s ‘cuz it’s my job!
Ed spins around and his clothes magically reappear. Then he just stands there in some sort of weird victory pose and Pinako comes up the stairs.
Pinako: Ed, Al. There’s a guest come to see you. Ed: Us? Pinako: If your maintenance is done, come down when you’re ready. Ed: Got it, I’m coming. Al: I wonder what’s going on, brother? Ed: Let’s go.
So they go downstairs and there’s a pair of kids in the living room.
Ed: Oh, you guys. What’s up? Kid 1: Um, hey! There are some strangers in a barn on the outskirts of the village! Al: Strangers..? What do they want(?)? Kid 2: They’re really hurt, and they’re bleeding a lot. (Note: This seems a little weird considering the context, you’d think they’d be in a bit more of a hurry if someone were bleeding out in a barn, but I already pressed A so whoops I hope I translated that right) Ed: ...Let’s be quiet(?). Winry: ....... Ed: (To the kids) Alriiight! Don’t worry, we’ll go check it out. Kid 2: Really?! Ed: Yep! Leave it to us! Al: There’s no need to worry, so you two wait here, ok? Kid 1: Ok! Pinako: Be sure to be careful. Ed: We will, granny. Let’s go, Al. Al: Right. Winry: Wait, I’m coming too. Al: Th-that’s a bad idea. Winry: They said those people are hurt. I can give them first aid. Ed: If you insist. Let’s just hurry up(?). Winry: Right.
Winry walks to the back of the room (I guess to get something? idk) and then comes back.
Winry: Let’s not keep them waiting(?)! Ed: Ok! The barn on the edge of town, let’s go!

FMA: Omoide no Sonata (Shitty translation) - Part 3
Walking around Resembool talking to various NPCs
Villager 1: There was another bombing the other day. It was in a town called Reglotalia. (Note: レグロタリア Regurotaria is the name of the town. There probably isn’t an official romanization so idk.)
Villager 2: Long time no see. There are dangerous happenings going on, so you two be careful out there.
Villager 3 (Possibly a kid?): There aren’t any people, so I’m patrolling. I’ll protect the safety of the village!
Villager 4 (Definitely a little girl): A boy found a sparkly rock(?). I want one too.
There’s also a pot in a field of pumpkins near villager 3 and if you interact with it, it says “You got a restoration capsule!” which I assume is some sort of healing item.
In a barn you can find a “Legendary tool”, whatever the hell that means. And in some flowers near a house there’s a “Calming mint”, presumably also some sort of healing item? Idk man.
Going in the house
Old lady: Since grandpa came down like that(?), I’ve been occupied with housework.
Old man: Every day, grandma and I spend our time in peaceful bliss.
In a pot in the house you find three “restoration supplements”.
Walking over to Winry’s house
Ed: Something wrong, Al? Al: ........
Al turns to the side and a cat walks over.
Al: It’s a kitty~ ♪
Al runs over to the cat and opens up his armor
Ed: Allllll! What the hell do you think you’re doing?! Al: Oh, uh, I was just... I thought we might travel together(?)... ...Is that ok? Ed: It is definitely NOT ok!! Al: Come on, come on, it’ll be fine! Ed: No, no, no! Al: It’s fine, brother! I mean, weren’t they pretty helpful on our last trip? (Note: This I think is probably a somewhat fourth wall breaking reference to the first GBA game, where like most of the FMA video games, you could collect cats hidden in various locations throughout the game to power up Al’s attacks. This is definitely the start of the cats sidequest.) Al: I’m sure they’ll help us out this time! Ed: Hmph... whatever. (Note: He literally says “it can’t be helped” but that translates weirdly) Al: Yay~ ♪ Thanks, brother!
Al puts the cat inside his armor
Al: Ok, let’s go, brother! Ed: Pain in the ass... (Note: He said “やれやれ”. A bit difficult to translate. Jojos will know) Al: Oh yeah! If you ever don’t know what to do, press the R button. Whenever I can, I’ll give you advice!
Uh... Thanks I guess, Al? :’D So anyway, finished talking to people in the village and heading to Winry’s house. Den runs up and then Pinako comes outside.
Pinako: Well, if it isn’t Ed and Al. Welcome home.
Then it looks like Winry throws a wrench at Ed from the window but he catches it? Whaaaaaaaaat
Ed: Just like always(?)!
Winry comes outside
Winry: Geez! How many times have I told you the same thing?! Al: To call before we come, right? Winry: That’s right! Al gets it. Ed, you..!! Ed: Yeah, yeah, I get it! (Something I don’t understand) Pinako: That’s enough already, come inside now. We can’t do your maintenance out here. Al: She’s right, brother. Come on, Den! Den: Woof! Winry: ...Welcome home. Let’s go inside. Ed: (Blushing) Y-yeah.

FMA: Omoide no Sonata - Scene 2 (Shitty translation)
Ed and Al are I think in a desert? Idk I can’t see shit because their talk sprites are in the way but anyway Al runs up to Ed
Al: Brotheeeer!! Brother, you moron! (Note: He actually says “大変” which means something like “awful”. People in this fucking game keep just exclaiming it as a single sentence and I have no idea how to translate that so I’m just making up shit based on context) Ed: (Startled) W-what is it, Al? Al: Brother, you didn’t call Winry! You have to go for your maintenance! (I have no idea what Ed says here sorry orz Presumably some excuse for not calling Winry) Al: I. Don’t. Know. Winry will be mad. Ed: (Looking very forlorn and annoyed) ........... Ed: ...you really think she’ll be mad? Al: Uh-huh. But she’ll only be mad at you, since I’m not involved. I wonder how granny Pinako’s doing... Ed: ..Allllllllllll. Then they walk a little bit and I guess they’re in fucking Resembool now apparently Some guy: Heey, long time no see, huh? You’re still as tiny as ever~ Ed: Are you calling me a miracle super micro shorty? Some guy: I didn’t quite say that. Did I, Al? Al: No, no. Brother, you’re overreacting. Ed: Grr..! (Note: He literally said “ムキ” which is like... a sound effect for anger. Idk) Some guy: By the way, did you hear about the usual incidents? Al: You mean those bombings that have been going on all over the place? Some guy: Yeah. It’s gotten dangerous. Some guy: Hey, Ed. Do you think the bombings could even happen in this little village? Ed: Like I’d know(?)... But you know, they’ve mostly been targeting military facilities, so yeah. I don’t think they’d target a little countryside village like this, but it never hurts to be careful(?). Some guy: Really... But isn’t the military doing anything about it(?)? Al: Right now, it seems there aren’t any major efforts... Ed: Makes me ashamed to be a state alchemist. Some guy: Hahaha, now that’s different. So you’re coming home after such a long time? How about stopping to visit everyone in town? Ed: Yup. Al: That’s the plan!

FMA: Omoide no Sonata - Scene 1 (Shitty translation)
Random guy: Thanks for coming out here on a service call. You really saved me! Winry: No problem, it’s nearby after all. But it seems to me like your automail is a bit out of whack. Please make sure to do some simple maintenance on your own. Random guy: No, well, I know but... I just forgot today. Winry: (Irritated) That’s what they all say... (Something about maintenance idk), You’ll come to love your automail more and more~! <3 Random guy: Ok, ok. From now on I’ll do my maintenance as much as possible. Winry: Well then, call again if you have any more trouble. Random guy: Thanks. Take care! Winry: I will~
Winry then walks down the street
Winry: ..?
AND THEN THERE’S A FUCKING EXPLOSION
Winry: What the?!
Winry then runs down the street, I think this is in East City? Maybe? Anyway there’s a bunch of people like literally running in circles and a military building blown up and some guys lying on the ground
Winry: This... Just what’s going on here..? Winry: How awful!
Winry runs over to a soldier
Winry: I’ll help too! Soldier: Thank you! Please tend to the wounded! Go check over there! (Note: Is it just me or is this guy weirdly ok with some random teenage girl getting involved in this dangerous situation?) Winry: Got it!
Then Winry goes to the left and this random kid with reddish hair runs over. Or maybe it’s a lady? Talks like a dude though. Idk. Looks kinda like Waya from Hikaru no Go so I’m just gonna call ‘em that for now
"Waya”: Hey, there are people underneath here too! (Referring to a large fallen chunk of building) Help me out! Soldier (I think): Uh, uhhh, wait a minute! Come here! “Waya”: Hurry!!
The soldier goes to help him(?) lift the wreckage
“Waya”: Hey, you get over here too!
Another soldier comes over
Winry: Let me help too. We’ll save them!
Screen fades to black
