High hopes
Faith. Love. Hope. This are only the three words among hundred words to describe New Era University (NEU).

Just for me
Love.
With this one word we can make everything better, love can make anything possible.
This is also my father's secret recipe, I don't even know why burnt food made by him tasted amazing. It's funny to think that I liked everything he cooked like burnt fried rice, hotdogs, adobo, and many others. When my mom is not at home he will cook for us. I don't know if it really tasted good or just I don't have a choice but to eat it.
Everytime I entered the house and smell some burnt food I already know whose cooking, my father. But when my mom is around everything is on position.
But this burnt food is the one I missed. It is a long time ago when my father cooked for us. Now that they are busy at their works they come home late at night. I just cook or ordered for my self to eat.
I wish that someday I will have a chance to taste that burnt food again. I wish that someday they can make some time for me, just for me.
Ps. I don't have any pictures because gadgets are not allowed in the table while eating.

Short-term
Did you ever wonder what is your purpose in this world? In our lives we work hard to have a better future, but then do you think after we succeed on getting it what is going to happen after?
I go to school everyday to learn new things. It is really tiring but then when the time comes all the hardworks and perseverance will have a fruitful outcome.
Waking up early in the morning to prepare my self. Taking a bath, dressed up and then eat my breakfast this is my routine every weekday. But do you think learning is really our purpose in this world?
On weekends, I alot my Sundays for my obligations in the church and helping in the chores in the house while Saturday I also have a class but this is the only day I can have some fun like watching movies and staying up late in the night.
When time passed by I realized that all worldly things will fade away but faith in God will stay. My purpose why I lived in this temporary world is to worship and glorify God.

A Knight in Shining Armor
Arrrfff.
It is the last sound that my uncle heard before he lose his last breathe. It is the whimpering sound of his friend, Jordan. Jordan has its special place in his heart.
In the year 1990, my Uncle Roderick got a gift from a friend. It is a big, brown and fluffy dog, he named it Jordan. My uncle has a disease called Asthma and dogs, cats and other animals are prohibited to him but he can’t just refused Jordan because of it.
Jordan became my Uncle’s best pal, everywhere he goes Jordan is with him even if he was going in the field to get some vegetable to eat. But then one day my Uncle almost got bitten by a snake but because of Jordan he got saved from it. My uncle didn’t train Jordan but then he knows how to patiently wait for his food even if he is not supervised. Also, Jordan helps my Uncle in his chores like watching the rice field. He is like a well-trained dog even if Jordan is just a street dog.
But then life is not a fairytale. This happiness that seems endless has ended. My Uncle died beside Jordan and my Mom. He died because of his asthma. My mom witnessed that time how agony and suffering Jordan felt. Whimpering, crying and howling, hoping that my Uncle would open his eyes.
Jordan is just always lying under his coffin. My grandmother also is in agony to see Jordan to be that sad. After the burial, Jordan is always lonely and no one fed him just my grandma but because of her work she sometimes forgets.
After all, he stays the hero who always protects the family. One day my Aunt Malyn almost got bitten by another street dog and again Jordan save her. But this time it’s different because Jordan lost all of his teeth and wounded.
For almost 10 years Jordan protected my family from any harm, we were thankful for it. But then, my grandma sells Jordan because she was pitiful to see Jordan suffered.
It is a sad story but then, every time my mom tells me a story about Jordan I can see the happiness in her eyes. I wish someday I can have my own Jordan, a hero that will protect my family in harm. He will be forever our Knight in Shining Armor.

My filled trip
Excitement. Fun. Joy. It is common to feel these emotions when you first try something new. It is also the emotions that fulfilled my field trip.
Excitement. One day before the trip I've pack my bag and fix my things. When I wake up in the morning I felt my heart racing, excited for the new memories and experience to come up.
Me and my friends went to school early. We waited for everything to be settled. After a few minutes we prayed and the tour guide give some rules and advice for the safety of everyone, after that the bus departed.
Fun. The first destination is the National Car Museum or also known as Presidential Car Museum. Inside there are 12 Presidential Cars which has its own story to tell. I'm curious because all the cars are color black so I asked my teacher, she said that it is color black because black represents power, elegance, and authority. I also noticed that the plate number of the entire car is 1 it is because it’s the assigned number for the president. Our group is also conducting a vlog for group project. It is fun because it has a lot of learning.
The second destination is Art in Island. When we arrived I can see the paintings in the wall and the big statue in front of it. I'm amazed by the jaw-dropping 3D artwork and illusion that you can see inside of it. I can say that every picture you've taken is an Instagram worthy picture. There's also a cafe inside of it. It is also fun because I'm with my friends, Kaye, Ergel, Omar and also Ma'am Nila which is our adviser.
After the tiring adventure we've rest a little bit. We've eaten our lunch inside the bus also fun because everybody shares their mouthwatering foods. But still we have two more destinations to go.
The next destination is SM MOA. It is one of the largest Mall in the world. We also didn't let the chance to take a look at the Manila Bay. The blue sky and the waves that splashing in the rocks of the shore is so satisfying to watch. We spent the time while chatting about our lives. It's so nice to have friends like them. They're always fun to be with.
Last destination is Star City. It was my first time here. I'm so excited to see the extreme rides. Although I have been to some other amusement parks but I know that Star City is unique on its own way. Maybe it is unique because I'm with my special ones.
First, we go to the horror house, this is also my first time to try this. Even if it's not scary, all of us screamed because of Ergel and Omar frightened us. It is so fun even Ma'am Nila enjoyed it. Next we've ride the Star Frisbee. Ma'am Nila didn't come with us because she can't handle the extreme rides. After it I regret that I waited in the line just to get dizzy and nauseated. After that I can't ride any of it because of dizziness. After a few minutes we've decided to ride the Ferris wheel. Unfortunately, because of the long line we didn't get the chance to see the sunset. But I think it is more beautiful because when were on the top I can see the City lights and also the stars and the moon. It just was so relaxing. Truly is Star City is a happy place.
Joy. On our way home me and my friend Kaye talking about our lives in the future. I was just so happy because I'm part of her future. There are no words to express how I felt that time. I just found myself teary eyed. Maybe it is tears of joy. This is one of the reasons that this day became a filled trip. I can say that this day is one of the memorable and best experiences I ever have. My field trip became a filled trip.

Can't help falli'n inlove with Batangas
" You’re braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.” it is a line from a cartoon movie Winnie the Pooh. If you never take yourself outside of your comfort zone, you’ll never know what you’re capable of in life.
Adventure can make your life longer. Beautiful sites can make you stress-free in life.
I’m excited to share with you about family travel. Family travel has brought me closer and closer to my own family.
There’s something very special about traveling with my family. It’s actually something I look forward to the most throughout the year because I know it’s a time we’re all going to be together.
My favorite destination is my hometown. Batangas is one of the most popular tourist destinations near Metro Manila. The province has many beaches and is famous for excellent diving spots including Anilao in Mabini, Sombrero Island in Tingloy, Ligpo Island in Bauan, these areas more popularly known as Anilao. Matabungkay in Lian, Punta Fuego in Nasugbu, Calatagan and Laiya in San Juan. With its alluring shores, Batangas turns out to be a principal player in the tourism of the Philippines.
Truly Batangas is the blessed land. I would fall in love over and over with Batangas.

A gift just for you
Second. She has been my second mother for almost 2 years.
My brother once told me " Being the second placer is the worst and the loser". But for my teacher being the second mother for her students is the best.
Teacher plays big roles in our lives. They don’t just teach us academically, they also teach us in terms of hospitality and generosity. They enhance our skills and talents. They thought us how to be brave enough to face challenges in our daily lives. They thought us what is wrong and right. They made us discover things. They give us advice how to live life. They made us a person who knows how to fight in this cruel world of ours. They made us realize what the world is all about. They made us understand how important and significant education is.
Teachers are known to be the parents in our school. They’re our mother and father in school that guides us and leads us. Sometimes they can be also a friend and a buddy that help students build relationships, have a better socialization and communication with other people. They help students to have confidence, doesn’t let students feel down and help students to have a strong mindset. And lead the students to have a goals and successful in life.
Heroes aren’t the ones who wear capes, not even those who can fly and possess special powers. For me the real heroes are the Teachers, my teacher.
Education is a gift for everyone. But how can we get education if no one will teach us? Teachers they are the once that God sent for us. They are the gift. A gift just for you.

Barangay New Era: The Role Model
Faith. Love. Hope. These are only three words among 101 words to describe barangay New Era.
Faith. Most of the residents in this community are members of the Iglesia Ni Cristo. According to a resident, the church administration of the INC built housing units for the ministers and lay workers and gradually constructed 4 dormitories for the students of New Era University.
Love. The seemingly harmonious co-existence between the INC and the adjacent barangays specially the Muslim community is perhaps mirrored by what is ostensibly a peaceful Barangay New Era. Residents adhere to rules strictly imposed by the barangay, which reportedly conducts round-the-clock security.
Barangay New Era was originally part of Barangay Culiat. But Presidential Decree No. 1760, signed by the late Philippine President Ferdinand E. Marcos in January 2, 1981, made Barangay New Era into a distinct and independent barangay.
The barangay strictly enforced city ordinances among its residents. There is a curfew for minors from 10:00 pm to 5:00 am, a smoking ban in almost all public places, and a firecracker ban during the New Year revelry.

Violators of the curfew are reportedly reprimanded at the barangay hall, then escorted home. Their parents are also advised about their children’s predicament. If the minor is staying at one of the dorms, then the owner of the boarding house is advised. If he or she is a student of New Era, the university administration is informed about the violation.
“Clean and peaceful,” that is how most resident sums up Barangay New Era.
On the current mandate of the President to catch and incarcerate drug lord, pushers and drug addicts , Quezon City being the most populated of the country ‘s highly urbanized cities was among the highest recorded fatalities of war on drugs. But New Era Village remained quiet across the border. New Era, once part of Culiat, is the home of the Central Temple of Iglesia ni Cristo (INC). There were no police encounters were recorded under the church steeple.
Hope. Barangay New Era is the hope for others to change. It is also the hope for the right and true faith in God.

THE GUARDIAN
"Always obey and never complain” this is Bro. Eduardo V. Manalo’s principle even if it entails sacrifice, no matter how hard the work is. His Father also taught him selfless love and concern for the church.
Bro. Eduardo Villanueva Manalo was born on January 31, 1955. He is the eldest son of Bro. Erano G. Manalo and Cristina V. Manalo, his father is the late Executive Minister of the Church of Christ and the grandchild of Bro. Felix Y. Manalo who is the last messenger of God in this last days. Bro. Felix named him “Eduardo” which means “guardian”.
He was raised with the family that has a firm faith and whom God is the center.
When he was seven years old his grandfather, Bro. Felix asked his grandson to kneel, and then he placed his hands over the child's head and blessed him in front of several witnesses. In other words, Bro. Felix asked God for the blessings and guidance for him through his journey in life.
Bro. Eduardo met his wife, Sister Lynn Ventura, when he was a minister. They were married on January 2, 1982, the 57th birthday of the Executive Minister.
They have three children, one boy and two girls. Their three children began studies at New Era University (NEU) before matriculating at University of the Philippines. Their children also have a successful life because Bro. Eduardo and Sister Lynn raised their children early in their youth to value Church offices, which, up to now they fulfill faithfully. Bro. Eduardo's constant advice to them is "Don't let the world influence you, you should influence the world," for by doing good, others will do the same. They also instilled in their children the value of studying hard so that they can use their God-given gifts in the service of the Church.
Bro. Eduardo is down to earth and always been respectful according to elder ministers.
Even though no matter how good he is it is a reality that there are some detractors and disbelievers. He has proven his unconditional love to the church by disowning even his own siblings and his beloved mother when they choose not to obey and respect the Church Administration when they were told to which is a doctrine inside the church.
Iglesia Ni Cristo or Church of Christ has reached six continents and 147 countries and territories and has 7,000+ Churches around the world. INC is still growing and slowly becomes a success. It has 20+ Guinness World record. Truly we can see on how blessed INC is.
He helped many people but still his good deed is not enough for others. It is painful to see how his own family betrayed him but he did not exchange or give up his church. Now Iglesia Ni Cristo is triumphant and continuously guided and blessed by our Almighty God.

The test of life
“Choose wisely” it is a line of my father that I’ve heard a thousand times. Life is made up of choices it is a series of decisions we make and depending on our choices we must live with the result of that decision.
In our life we made many mistakes and failures, decisions that later on we will realize that it is not the best or the right path that were walking. Choosing the wrong decisions is often the cause of our problems and it might change our lives forever.
Humans are not made perfect. They are prone to make mistakes and be hurt when they stumble or fall. They sometimes cry when they can’t endure the pain. This mostly happens to a child for they are more vulnerable.
A loving mother will always come to his/her child to protect them and comfort them. She may be worrying and sometimes get nervous but fights and pretends to be fine for you to ease up and be alright. Her never failing and unconditional love and affection drives you to have courage to do great things and her encouragement makes you strong and believes in yourself.
There was a burden laid on us. It was so far beyond what we could bear that we even despaired of living through it. God tested my faith on 12th of May last year; my mom got still birth to our youngest. A baby girl 5months cared from her womb. It was so sudden that in our hearts we felt a very deep sorrow. I was building my dreams then on how should I be a role model to her. We already had a name for her as we plan. She is our princess. Our baby Jam. I still have it on my thoughts her lifeless body but most of all that I remember is her figures. Her high bridged pointing nose. Her eyebrows and her complexion all somewhat resemble me. It was a huge loss for the family. I was crying inside so loud that I can not hear myself. That baby supposed to be my friend, my partner-in-crime.
My mom just always hugs me and comforts me. It wasn't brought to my mind that she was crying also for the lost. She never told me her pain. I just saw her accidentally weeping at the corner of their room. That time I asked if God really exists. I didn’t felt his love and care to our family. i even decided to skip my obligations on the church. But then I realize that it was wrong. Losing my faith to God is my worst decision I’ve made in my life.
God was so great that moment was after the worship service where I felt the most solemn and fervent worship service I ever had. God hugged me that moment. It is true that God is merciful. Everything happens for a reason. God will heal all the pain and the wounds as long as you pray.
