The Stars Are Not Ours by Neil Star

When you look into the night sky What do you see? Stars There are so many of them up there Millions upon millions Forever in the sky Staring back at us If you reach up into the night To grab the stars What you come back with Is a handful of nothing They will stay forever in the sky Always out of reach The stars are not our They aren't ours to take They aren't ours to grab So disappointing Just balls of gas  So far away They do nothing for us And yet They're beautiful Even if we can't have stars I will steal them To put on my wall To light my room To hear my secrets And there they will stay forever Till someone else steals them from my room
