Around this time last year I posted about the goals I had set myself for the year ahead. The post is linked here, if you wish to catch up.
Today I’m looking back at last year and considering how well I actually did with those goals.
I first spoke about attending more live music and events and hoped for at least one per month. Whilst I definitely didn’t reach one per month, I definitely feel really happy with the number of live events I actually got too. 2018 took me back to Leeds Festival which honestly would have completed my goal for me, I saw so many bands and artists there, and fell in love with the comedy tent. British festivals are really an entire experience on their own, and if you get the chance to go, do it. I also saw Paramore in 2018, a band I had waited around a decade to see live. The same goes for Panic! At The Disco, I finally saw them after 13 years of waiting, and that alone was enough for me. I added in the usual favourite shows Fall Out Boy and Dave Giles, and even added in seeing a couple of my favourite comedians, Jon Richardson and Paul Smith. While some of you may think that my goal wasn’t met, I did what I wanted, and pushed myself to as many events as I could.
I also wrote about travel. At that point I only had one trip planned, to visit family in Dallas, Texas, which was a big and expensive trip and so I made goals to see more of the UK. But, I actually visited three countries and saw more of the USA instead. In May, there was a trip to OluDeniz, Turkey which provided the most beautiful sights and gave us time away during a really difficult week. I had never visited this area of Turkey before, but now it holds my heart. It was stunning. Completely picturesque, and I never wanted to leave. In July and August we jetted off to Dallas to reunite with my Dad’s side of the family. It was tough but lovely. We visited our usual haunts of malls and eateries. I finally had my Margarita in Los Lupes, that I had waited more than 2 years for! A drive to Oklahoma city gave me new sights to see, and reunited me with a cousin I hadn’t seen for years, and allowed me to meet his gorgeous children. I visited the Oklahoma City Bombing Memorial, and left with a new appreciation of life. I went to Six Flags with my sisters and celebrated my bothers birthday in Hooters. Then, for my Birthday I was surprised with trip to Disneyland Paris. I had never visited this park, and I was completely overwhelmed the entire time. It was amazing, and so magical and I can’t thank Matt enough for putting up with my Disney obsession the way he does.
The next goal could honestly be considered a total bust. I wanted to be more organised so that my blog didn’t suffer every time I had a uni deadline. This page hardly existed last year, but I was far more organised, as I submitted every piece of work at least one week early. So whilst my blog still suffered, I didn’t. I’ll still call this one a win.
I also spoke about wanting to be a little bit healthier, and I did actually lose 2 stone in 2018. So we’ll check that one with a big tick. Heres hoping I can continue that one in 2019.
Finally, I spoke about the event we held in my Dad’s honour, to fundraise for the UK Sepsis Trust. This is 2018’s biggest achievement, easy. We raised £5,275.05 in total and I couldn’t be prouder. The night was a huge success and I was surrounded by those who have supported me always and loved my Dad the most. I cannot thank those who helped, donated and attended more, you made the night a huge success. Keep your eyes peeled for what 2019 has in store, because I’m not done yet!!
Another long winded post but I’m so happy with how I’ve used the past 12 months, and these little reviews really help me to appreciate that while overall things may seem to have failed, there are little positives in so many things we do, and that you just have to look to them when things seem a bit rough.

Roisin runs a page I have been a fan of for a couple of years now, and has helped me to truly embrace my love of all things Disney. Her instagram is a place I regularly find myself exploring, as well as her own blog posts and videos. She is so lovely and it was an absolute dream to spend an afternoon with her shooting some of her many Disney themed outfits. I’ve added hyperlinks throughout so be sure to show her some love, although I’m sure most of you will have already.

A first glimpse into a long awaited album number two.
Big labels are not needed when you have a loyal fan base, and that certainly seems clear for Dave Giles, who is eagerly awaiting the release of his second album, Tennessee & 48th, next month.
London-based and independent singer-songwriter Dave Giles has toured the UK for the past eight years extensively, building up a very loyal audience along the way, before branching into small tours of Ireland, Europe and Australia. This includes house tours, where the singer played the houses of friends and fans for little more than petrol costs and a cup of tea. The singer also adopts a Pay What You Want scheme for all shows, allowing fans to adjust ticket costs according to their own funds and travel costs, while also allowing new listeners (and old) to attend for free. On top of all of this, Giles was one of Frank Turner’s handpicked acts for the Lost Evenings Festival earlier this year, and the singer’s first headline show of the year sold out in less than a day.
In 2012, his debut album, Love, Life, Loss and Tea, was released, and was very well received among the singers fan base. A string of EP’s followed this, including TreeP and +1 EP, which he recorded with friend and singer-songwriter Danny Gruff.
In the January of 2018, after an eight month campaign to raise a little over £25,000, with the help of his fans and his own blend of tea, Giles embraced a personal dream and took to Nashville to begin recording his second full-length album, Tennessee & 48th.
Tennessee & 48th gives a completely new sound for Giles, it’s new and exciting. A much fuller sounding record than his previous releases, and yet there is no question that this music belongs to Dave Giles. The lyrics are deep and meaningful and bring in waves of emotion, yet they still contain the signature comfort that Giles has always brought to his music, and despite their heavy subjects, still feel uplifting.
The record itself features a mid-tempo folk vibe, with an element of soft rock thrown in for good measure. The use of fiddle truly captures the essence of Nashville and encompasses the country genre.
Taken Too Soon is the debut single and gives the first glimpse into that album. The song focuses on the loss of a fan and friend. It is a very tender and emotional track. Unlike Giles’ previous releases, there is no mention of names or places, which does give an opportunity for the audience to relate to the feeling of the song, and put their own story to the touching lyrics.
Tennessee & 48th displays a different direction for Giles’ musical style, which shows particularly, just how much of a difference a change of scenery can make.
The album is available across all platforms on November 2nd.
Next week Dave Giles is on tour to celebrate the album’s release, and he is bringing over the incredible musicians that helped him make it. If you would like to go, all shows are pay what you want and can be booked here.

Pray For The Wicked | Panic! At The Disco | The Review
So it is June 22nd and the year is 2018. Panic! At The Disco have just released their sixth studio album and summer is upon us.
‘Pray for the Wicked’ is an 11-track whirlwind of modern pop, with an exciting nostalgia. It kicks off with a dance tune ‘(Fuck A) Silver Lining’a song, that upon first listening won’t feel special, but will leave you dancing all day without you even noticing. It is a…

Hello there!
First up, I need to say the biggest thank you to every single person who has donated in any way, showed up and helped to sell tickets and promote the event. Without you the night wouldn’t have been nearly as successful!
GRAND TOTAL: £5240!!!
The night was a huge huge success, and I will announce all of the winners in a separate post, in the same way I will say my thank you’s.
The best way to show the nights success is through the pictures. The room was packed and it really just proved how much my dad meant to people. I’m overwhelmed and blown away!
