Hanging out stockings is one of my favorite things to do at Christmastime. For several reasons: . My aunt has been handcrafting our family stockings since I was a child. And she lovingly continues to do so now that we’re grown and keep having our own children. . The childhood memories of waking at 3:00 in the morning and gathering my brother and sister to open the gifts stuffed inside. We weren’t allowed to touch the presents under the tree, but we could have our stockings. Curiously, my own children don’t seem to care about getting up that early... . The look on our foster daughter’s face when we received and hung her stocking yesterday was priceless.
