Absolutely obsessed with how illario tells a lucanis romancing Rook that they chose the wrong dellamorte

SAME oh my god. It’s the fact that it’s a romance specific line that really gets me- it could easily apply to Rooks that aren’t romancing Lucanis, if he had meant “you chose the wrong Dellamorte to assist with your cause, because I’m the better assassin.”

But that’s not what he meant. Illario is specifically referring to Rook choosing the wrong Dellamorte as a romantic partner.

The jealousy he must feel, to be thinking of Rook and Lucanis’ relationship in the middle of their fight is CRAZY. I’m so curious whether he wants Rook because they don’t respond to his flirting, or whether he wants them because Lucanis has them- either way, I don’t see an explanation for this line that doesn’t come down to Illario wanting Rook for himself, and that being part of his frustration at being the “lesser” Dellamorte

The banter between Solas and Emmrich is neat.

The first thing Solas says to Emmrich is “the spirits say you’re pretty cool. You also gave up lichdom to save a curiosity spirit.” (unseen: Solas Greatly Approves)

Emmrich responds with “the spirits say you’re pretty cool as well.”

Eventually Solas says to Emmrich it would be a privilege to speak with you further, professor

Right here blows all the arguments of Solas being inherently prideful out of the water. If you carry yourself with dignity and respect, with an open mind and genuine humility, Solas has no problem with you. Emmrich is trying to stop Solas from tearing down the Veil, Solas is currently operating under the misleading notion given to Rook that nah he’s not gonna tear down the Veil, thus the two are at ideological differences in this respect. However, Solas consciously chooses this opportunity to acknowledge and quietly praise Emmrich’s benevolent relationship with spirits, and in turn Emmrich returns the compliment with a polite “you too”. Solas, “Pride”, is speaking to Emmrich with the deference and due respect he paid Cassandra a decade ago. Whether philosophically, ethically, or intellectually, if you see eye to eye with Solas he is like ‘i fw you’.

Solas has no problem with people being knowledgeable and being confident in their knowledge, he just doesn’t want you to be pompous and intractable about it. Emmrich absorbs new developments and information like a sponge. He is patient, pedagogical, and peaceful. Humble and curious. Everything Solas wishes the world had more of, everything Solas values.

Side note, do you think Solas looks at Emmrich and thinks “You’re telling me I could’ve shared my tent with this man instead of Dorian.”
