Writing for yourself. I see so many posts about writing stories and fanfiction for yourself and not to worry about other people engaging with it. Don't worry about how many Comments or Kudos you get. Because your stories should be for you. Well I don't write my stories for me. I write my stories for a community I write my stories for you. I write my stories with the idea of being around a campfire telling an epic tale. I don't write my stories for me. So when my books go unnoticed when my Fanfics are unread. When the campfire is lonely and no one is there to hear my tales... I stop. I don't write my stories for me. I enjoy rereading them, I Enjoy pondering over the worlds in my head but i don't write them for me. So when I have no one to talk to, no one to shock no one to deeply move, my creativity dies. When my voice falls on deaf ears I realize I have nothing to say, I realize the community does not want to listen. And I stop. Sometimes I get a spark, sometimes I get motivation and I want to tell a story but I let it die since no one will hear me. I don't write my stories for me, I write them for we, for us. And that is ok. Not everyone Writes for themselves.

me, a writer, at 3am: WHAT? I CANT FIND THE SPECIFIC FANFIC THAT I MADE UP IN MY MIND WITH A WHOLE PLOT AND ORIGINAL CHARACTERS??? WHO DO THEY THINK THEY ARE??? DO THEY EXPECT ME TO WRITE THE STORY I THOUGHT UP OF???

Being an aromantic writer is frustrating because you want to show aromantic people but you know damn well people would misinterpret their relationships as romantic and ship them, ignoring the orientation of them for aromantics like you to finally get more recognised within in or out of the community. It really says something that I know I have to be explicitly clear that these characters are aromantic and I don't want them shipped for people to even slightly get the message across.

ao3 writers I love you and see you and I know it can be demoralizing when the fic you’ve worked so hard on doesn’t get nearly enough reception as you’d hoped. Whether that’s in the form of hits or kudos or bookmarks or comments. I know it’s frustrating, but just know… there’s often no rhyme or reason to it. no discernible algorithm at play here.

please remind yourself that low numbers are NOT an inherent reflection on the quality of your work. I’ve read incredible, downright masterful stories that have just a few kudos and a handful of bookmarks; and I’ve read extremely popular fics that I simply don’t vibe with. And everything in between. There are so many factors involved—how big the fandom is, how popular the ship is, what kind of tags are included, how other people filter and search for fics, etc. etc... the list TRULY goes on. all this to say, the stats absolutely shouldn't be the thing that keeps you from writing.

be kind to yourself. keep creating, if that's something you want to do and have the energy for. please don't get discouraged. your art matters and is worth so much more than you might think.

I am constantly fighting inner demons when deciding on how I want Danny to look in my au. It genuinely goes in a triangle of Pretty Twink, Gangly Cryptid and Big Boy Danny. They're all forever locked in an eternal battle to see who will come out victorious and be written/typed onto the page.

I don't know who needs to hear this but:

It's totally cool to have a million ideas bouncing around in your head all at once. Seriously, you're not some kind of "problem child" for being a creative powerhouse. You don't need to "calm down", "tone it down" or "take it easy" just because you've got a ton of projects on the go.

So what if your mind feels like a chaotic tornado of inspiration ? Embrace it ! You're not "too much" or "overwhelming", you're exactly the right amount of awesome.

And to anyone who tries to rain on your parade with their negativity ? Tell 'em to take a hike ! You've got better things to do than listen to their boring old complaints.

So keep doing your thing, keep chasing those dreams, and never let anyone dull your sparkle. Your brain is beautiful, full of imagination and there is no way you should apologize for having all of those amazing ideas. You're a rockstar, and don't you forget it.✨
