i’ve been studying new aspects of art lately and i painted ✨still life with fruit✨ (with image refs from pinterest)

for my first attempt i just dived in with the existing brushes i had. for the second attempt, i customised my own brush! it took a shorter time than the first one and i’m starting to see improvement 💖

since it’s the year of the rabbit, i decided to sketch some cute lil’ fluffy bunnies! 🐇🧧

i took a shot at realism a while ago. although there aren’t much details, i think i did a pretty good job! this was a short study and i plan to do more next time.

getting out of my comfort zone feels fulfilling. my drawings may not turn out how i pictured it but i tried something new and i feel accomplished.

there’s always a first time to everything!! ✨

Hi! I was strolling through the sewing tag and saw your turtle!

First of all, congratulations, it is really lovely for a first!

Secondly, your tags said you're open to some tips, so here are a few I got from my mom when starting:

- when cutting your pieces, trace the shape and cut 1cm around it, it'll allow you to sew (ideally backstitch, as it's the strongest handstitch) on the traced outline and not have your fabric fraying at the seams.

- assemble the pieces with the right sides of the fabric (the side you want to see in the end) facing each other, leaving a hole to flip when you're done, so all the extra fabric you cut at the first step and eventual wonky bits will be hidden.

- if you have legs or a little head to add (like in the turtle), sew them to the right side of the belly, a little outside of the tracing, and flip them towards the inside before sewing the belly to the shell. That way when you flip the turtle the legs pop out. Also adding them this way means they're sewn two times and a little more secure.

- if you're using a plush fabric, try to cut the pieces with the way they'll go together in mind so the direction of the "fur" stays consistent.

I hope all this (or at least some of) is clear and helps! Keep practicing, making plushies is fun!

YOYOYO FINISHED MAKING MY FIRST EVERY STUFFED TOY 🎉

it’s a gift for one of my friends! i sewed my first stitch on the 31st of december last year, and on the 3rd of january i made this adorable stuffed turtle.

i have a really long way to go before i can make a decent stuffed toy. the stitches are a bit ugly but i gotta remind myself that i just started sewing and it’s the first stuffed toy i ever made.

i’d call this a success!
