hi guys!! ive kind of been dead for the past few weeks and i've been working on this silly little fic that i might make an au later, so heres a snippet of it because i feel bad that i havent posted in a while :))

tw for control through a chip and attempted murder

Shadow's worst fears had come true. Sonic had been mind-controlled by Robotnik. They'd captured him, but nobody knew what they'd done. Not until now, at least.

"Look at the poor hedgehog, being beat up," Robotnik taunted, making Sonic punch Shadow. Robotnik had figured out how to add a chip to Sonic. How to control him completely.

"Sonic, I'm not going to fight you!" Shadow growled, throwing a chair at him, which Sonic easily ducked.

"Oh, Sonic's gone. He's 001 now."

"No! His name is Sonic!" Sonic grabs Shadow and starts choking him.

"Sonic," Shadow grunts. "I don't want to hurt you." Sonic didn't react to that in any way. He just had a cold, desolate look in his eyes. Shadow had never seen it before. And he hated it. He hated Robotnik for doing this to Sonic. He hated that he actually had to fight Sonic to stop him.

"I'm sorry, Sonic," Shadow murmurs before grabbing Sonic's fist and slowly lowering him to the ground. Sonic takes the chance to kick Shadow in the leg, which loosens his grip on Sonic just enough for him to pin him to the ground.

"Sonic, you need to remember. Please, sun-sun."

"Oh, this is so sweet," Robotnik laughs. "But we do have to get going. Finish him, 001," Robotnik orders and Shadow sees a small flicker of pain in Sonic's eyes. It was so small that Shadow thought he imagined it. "Finish him, what are you waiting for?"

"Sonic. I know you can hear me. Please, snap out of it," Shadow pleads, watching as Sonic takes out a gun and points it at him. "If you want to shoot me, do it. I'm not going to fight you."

The gun cocks.

Sonic had become immortal a while back, because of the Chaos energy he'd absorbed. There was just so much of it that it overwhelmed his body and almost killed him. However, it didn't kill him. It just made him immortal for some reason. And this meant that Sonic had to watch as all of his friends slowly got old and passed away. And Shadow had to watch this happen. He had to watch the love of his life want to kill himself because of some stupid Prism. It was decades since he had been able to run with Knuckles, go out in nature with Amy, do anything with Tails, and he was sick of it. If he couldn't find a way to deal with it, he would join them. So he went on the roof and stood there, looking down. He just stood there. Shadow goes looking for him and comes to a full stop when he sees Sonic at the edge.

"Sonic, please, get down from there," Shadow pleads with him. "It won't work. Please." Shadow takes a step forward and Sonic does too. Shadow freezes immediately. "Sunshine, please don't do this. You're not alone."

"Yes I am! All of my friends died! And I can't! Do you know how that feels?!"

"Of course I do, Soni. I felt the same way when Maria died. Please just... come down. We can talk about this. You can feel better, I promise. I swear it."

"It won't. It can't get better, Shadow. I have nothing left."

"You have me. You'll always have me. Don't you remember when you said that? You said, 'You never have to worry about being alone, because you'll always have me, and I'll always be here for you.' Don't you remember when you said that?"

"I do," is all that he says.

"Let me help you. Please, just come here." Sonic looks back and lets out a sob. Shadow tentatively takes a step forward and Sonic walks into his arms. Shadow gently picks Sonic up and starts carrying him back to his room. He lays down on his bed with the blue hedgehog in his arms.

"I'm sorry..." Sonic sobs.

"It's okay... it's okay..." Shadow kisses his forehead and Sonic moves so he can hear Shadow's heartbeat.

"They're all gone," he sobs. "They're all-gone. I miss them..."

"I know. I do too."

"I wish Tails was here," Sonic whimpers, clutching Shadow's hand.

"I know, Soni. I wish Maria were here."

"How do you deal with this? It's so hard..." he squeezes his eyes shut.

"I know it is. But I just think about what she would have wanted for me. Think about Knuckles and Rouge and Amy and Tails. Think about Tom and Maddie and what they wanted."

"I just want them back."

"I know. I wish I could take your pain away. I would if I could."

"I just miss them."

"I know, sun-sun. I know." Shadow grabbed a nearby brush and started running it through Sonic's blue quills. He started to calm down and began purring softly so Shadow scratched his ears.

"M'tired..."

"I know. You can rest. I'm right here."

"Mm-mm. Not like that."

"Oh," is all Shadow says, closing his eyes.

"Shads?"

"Soni?"

"Im hungry..."

"Yeah? What do you want, sunshine?"

"Chili dogs," Sonic murmurs. Shadow smiles and nods.

"Ill make you some. You wanna stay here or come downstairs with me?"

"Stay here."

"Alright, sun-sun. Ill be back soon, okay?" Sonic nods and Shadow leaves him with a small kiss on the nose. He makes sure to wrap the blanket tightly around Sonic so it doesnt fall and make him cold. Shadow comes back about 15 minutes later with a plate full of chili dogs.

"I love you," Sonic mumbles, sitting up.

"Eat. I know you haven't eaten all day." Shadow rests the plate on his lap while Sonic eats one.

"Theyre so good. Thank you, Shads," Sonic smiles and rests his head on Shadow's shoulder. Shadow's arm snakes around his waist and pulls him closer. "I dont know what Id do without you, Shadow."

"Die of hunger, probably," Shadow teases.

"Did you just make a pun?" Sonic raises an eyebrow.

"The ultimate life form does what he wants."

Sonic smiles and gestures to the plate. "Have one." He nudges Shadow slightly.

"Are you sure? I dont want you to be hungry."

"Im sure. I promise." Shadow grabs one and bites into it.

"Youre right. Its good." Sonic gives a small smile and nods.

"Shadow? Will you... help me sleep?" Whenever Sonic asked that, it meant he wanted Shadow to hum to him.

"Of course, Soni. Ill put the chili dogs over here, okay?" Shadow puts the plate on the bedside table and moves to hold Sonic on top of him. Shadow begins to hum softly and scratch behind Sonic's ears.

"G'night, Shads..." Sonic yawns.

"Good night, Sonic. Ill always be here whenever you need me."

this is based on my personal hc that whenever Shadow gets angry or sad, he curls up into a ball and doesn't talk to or be around anyone. if you enjoyed this please comment/repost and like i love reading what you guys have to say!! i still have more fics coming up i just have to finish writing them hopefully i can do that tn <3

Shadow had been a lot of places. Hence, he had picked up some things along the way. One thing was that when he was sad, he would curl up into a ball and not speak or eat. He would stay like that until he felt better. Unfortunately, Sonic didn't know about this because he had never seen it happen, and Shadow hadn't told him. So when he walked in and saw Shadow like that, he started teasing him.

"Shadow? What'cha doing? Looks like fun." Sonic sits down next to the black ball of hedgehog quills. "C'mon, Shads, you can't be that mad, can you?" When Sonic gets no response, he starts being even more annoying than usual. "Faker, Im bored! Lets do something, please." After a few minutes of this, Shadow just mumbles a few words that takes Sonic a few seconds to comprehend.

"Go away, Sonic."

"Go away? Why?" Sonic looks confused, and if Shadow wasn't mad, he would've found it adorable.

"Im not in the mood for this."

"When are you ever? Come on, Shadow!" Sonic groans out of boredom.

"Sonic, stop!" Shadow yells as he rolls out of his ball. Sonic takes a small step back.

"Shadow? Are you okay?" He tries stepping forward but Shadow just steps back again.

"Yes, I'm fine," he growls. "Just go away. I'm not in the mood."

"Shadow, if somethings wrong, you can just tell m-"

"Nothing's wrong! Can't you just leave me alone? You're pissing me off!" Sonic feels his heart ache at how angry Shadow looks but he doesn't say anything. He just leaves, and it only takes Shadow a few mere seconds to realize what he did. He immediately starts walking after Sonic. "Sonic," he murmurs when he catches him. "I'm sorry. I-I'm sorry."

"Shadow, its fine... you don't have to say that, its okay to be mad."

"Not at you. Not when you didn't do anything wrong. I just... I can't control my anger sometimes. You didn't do anything wrong, sun-sun."

"I was annoying you," Sonic mumbles and buries his face in Shadow's white fur.

"You didn't know I wasn't in a good mood." Shadow scratches behind his boyfriend's ears and smiles when he hears a soft purr from him.

"I still shouldn't have done that. Are you okay?" he murmurs.

"I've just had a long day. A long week, actually. I haven't been able to relax properly."

"Do you wanna go relax now?" Sonic grabs Shadow's hand and starts walking back towards their room. Shadow just nods and lets Sonic drag him to their room. They get on the bed and Sonic lays on top of Shadow. "Tell me what happened this week."

"Are you sure you want to listen to it?" Shadow questions.

"Of course I do. As long as you-"

"Scratch your ears?" Shadow snorts and starts doing exactly that.

"I'm listening to whatever you have to say," Sonic smiles.

Sonic had this thing. Not something he was born with, at least he didn't think so. It wasn't even a gradual thing. It just happened. He just relaxed whenever his ears were scratched. And that was one of the first things Shadow learned about him. So whenever he wanted to get Sonic asleep, calm, or even just to make him happy, he would scratch behind his ears. The first time it ever happened was after they started dating.

"Sonic, you need to sleep," Shadow mumbles. They had stayed up talking and it was well into the night.

"I can't. I'm just not tired," Sonic grumbles like a petulant child. He acted like that when he was tired and grumpy.

"You haven't even tried. Just try, okay?" Sonic grumbles and closes hie eyes for approximately ten seconds before opening them again.

"I tried. I can't sleep." Shadow groans and starts to scratch his head.

"That's not gonna-" he pauses as Shadow starts scratching behind his ears. Sonic's eyes flutter shut and his body goes lax.

"Now I know how to shut you up," Shadow teases.

"Don't you dare use that against me," Sonic threatens, but it sounds more like a plea because hes tired and his eyes are closed.

"I might."

"If you do, I won't love you anymore."

"How will I ever survive?" Shadow snorts.

"That means no more nights like this."

"Mm... fine. Just because I like doing this. I'll use it whenever you want me to. Now sleep."

"Yes, sir, Mr. Shadow the Hedgehog," he gives a flimsy salute and rolls up into a ball.

"I could get used to that," Shadow murmurs.

au where sonic was born and raised on earth and shadow is cupid

Shadow had been making people happy since he could remember. Being Cupid had its perks. He got to see people fall in love, seeing them live their lives. But he had always been making people fall in love but never experiencing it himself. Until he saw Sonic. Oh, it was love at first sight. He was enamored with the energetic blue hedgehog. Ironic, isnt it? He wanted, no, he needed him. But he could only pitifully watch from afar as he and his friends had fun together. Oh, how he wished he could just fly down there and introduce himself. See his gorgeous quills up close. And his eyes, they looked like the emerald. They were so rich and green. After weeks of watching, Shadow had enough. He couldnt take anymore. Sonic was alone, and he was alone. He flew down and his wings folded away. They couldnt be seen when he wasnt using them, so he wasnt worried about getting caught. He bought a cup of coffee from a cafe and started walking towards Sonic. He "tripped" and fell on him.

"Oh my god, Im so sorry!” he apologizes, getting off him.

"Dont worry about it!" Sonic smiles and helps him up. "I think your coffees seen better days though," Sonic grimaces. Shadow turns to the coffee cup on the ground. "I’ll buy you another one. I’m so sorry.”

"You dont have to do that. It was my fault for not checking where I was going." In reality, Shadow was praying that Sonic would insist. And he did.

"No, please. It was my fault. I’ll buy you another cup!"

"Thank you... youre so kind." Sonic starts walking and Shadow follows him.

“So, where are you from?” Sonic asks as he orders the cup of coffee. They find a table and they both sit down as they wait for it to be made.

“Not… around here. You?” Shadow mutters and looks at the hedgehog across from him.

“I was born a few hours away from here. Lived here basically all my life. What do you do for a living?” Sonic replied as he sat down.

“I help people fall in love,” Shadow replied.

“What? Like Cupid? How?” Sonic’s eyes light up. Shadow tenses slightly but it’s gone before Sonic notices it.

“It’s complicated,” Shadow mutters and leans closer to Sonic. Sonic grins and giggles, which makes Shadow’s heart flip. The blue hedgehog just stares at him with a wonderstruck look in his eyes. As if he’s in love. The two of them continue talking for so long, they get kicked out of the cafe, and it’s dark when they walk out.

“I really enjoyed tonight,” Sonic says, leaning forwards.

“Me too,” Shadow murmurs. “This was fun. Sorry for bumping into you.”

“No! I mean-don’t be sorry…” Sonic blurts, and Shadow suppresses a smile.

“Well, I was wondering if I could get your number? If that’s okay?” Sonic murmurs.

“Yeah, just give me your number. I’ll call you?” Shadow suggests, since he doesn’t exactly have a number. He’s Cupid.

“Yeah.” Sonic grins and writes his number down quickly on a piece of paper of paper and gives it to Shadow. “Thank you for bumping into me.”

“Thank you for buying me another cup, sunshine. I’ll call you.” Shadow smiles and walks away. He’s gone before Sonic can ask about why Shadow just called him ‘sunshine’, or acknowledge the fact that he loved being called that.

sonic doesnt know what his limits are (especially with caffeine), so he gets hyper and shadow has to get maddie and tom involved

"Sonic, are you still out here?" Shadow calls into the backyard. He sees a blue blur but Sonics gone before he can see him. He sees an empty energy drink can on the grass and sighs to himself. "Sonic! I'm not kidding, get over here right now!"

"Good luck," Tails grumbles. "I've been trying to get him to stop all day."

"That is true!" Knuckles booms. Shadow rolls his eyes.

"Sonic!"

"Hi, Shads!" Sonic exclaims and stops running. He jumps in Shadow's arms, who is surprised at first, but holds the blue hedgehog. Tails huffs and rolls his eyes. Shadow was growing to like the kid.

"Sonic," Shadow scolds. "How many energy drinks have you had today?"

"Mm..." Sonic mumbles and buries his face in Shadow's neck.

"Sonic. How many?" Shadow presses.

"Seven..."

"Sonic!" Shadow scolds.

"...teen."

He had seventeen energy drinks. In one day.

"Soni..." Shadow murmurs, carrying him back inside the house. Sonic's energy levels were dropping rapidly. He was about to crash. Tails opened the door and they all walked back inside.

"Sonic! There you are!" Tom walks over to them as Maddie walks into the kitchen.

"Sonic, where have you been?" Maddie asks.

"Hes had 17 energy drinks," Shadow mutters as Tom takes Sonic into his arms.

"What?! Where did you get that many energy drinks?" Maddie walks over and looks at Tails accusingly.

"I didn't give them to him! He just got them, I don't know how!" Tails grumbles defensively.

"Okay, okay, let's get him to bed. Its getting late anyways. That means you guys too," Tom looks at Tails and Knuckles before he carries Sonic upstairs to his room and Shadow smooths his quills back. Shadow can hear Knuckles going on about Echidnas never tire. They reach Sonic's room and Shadow opens the door. They walk over to his bed and Tom covers him with his blanket and Shadow gets in with him.

"Good night guys," Tom whispers with a smile.

"Good night, Tom," Shadow mumbles. Tom closes the door and Shadow pulls Sonic closer. "Good night, Soni. I love you," he presses a kiss to his forehead and starts scratching his ears, which twitch and droop at his touch.

He would have to figure out where the hell Sonic got 17 energy drinks in the morning.
