It’s legitimate to talk about your experiences with your upbringing, as our environments shape us all, but there’s a certain kind of liberal/left-leaning white person from a red state who hasn’t unlearned right-wing biases as much as they think they have when they essentially go “we rural voters have the Secret and True political knowledge that you coastal liberals just don’t understand” when someone pushes back on any of their takes lol. The lionizing of rural voters is so tedious and it’s inherently right-wing to think liberals on the coasts or in big cities are out of touch and missing the true American experience, therefore they red state voters should dictate all Democratic Party discourse. Like it’s one thing to point out how the party needs to adjust their tactics in red states (which is true, and people online need to realize Dems in different states will sound kinda different) and another to get mad when members of the party outside of a red state embrace more progressive messaging because god forbid it might not appeal to dipshits in historically ruby red county #853 that’s never flipping blue anyway, because how dare every elected Dem not bow before the altar of the Rural Voter and heyyy that’s starting to sound right-wing again, isn’t it
