It had been subtle. If Foggy hadn’t been funneling all his attention into his best friend in that moment, he wouldn’t have even noticed.

But he did. A hand laying on his shoulder, then pulling back. Not quite like it burned, but more like if… a hand was able to smell something unpleasant. Pale, nimble fingers rubbing against his own palm as if trying to rid itself of the memory of the texture it had witnessed.

Foggy noticed. And Matt seemed to notice Foggy noticing, his hand at once returning to his shoulder, though the muscles in that arm tensed, from the pads of his fingers to his shoulder and the muscles in the left side of his neck. As if the touch was a burden, a weight on his senses. Something unpleasant to force oneself to endure.

Oh. Foggy wouldn’t have that.

That suit was old anyway, the fabric cheap and pilling. So there was no harm in ditching it. Though his wallet would argue there was harm in replacing it. Not that Foggy cared. Much. Not if it meant that Matt wouldn’t have to *endure* touching him.

Foggy Nelson could be subtle when he wanted to be. He hoped, when he brought Matt along to help him upgrade his wardrobe, he was being subtle enough.

Matt had laughed at the suggestion at first. “I can’t exactly tell you if the patterns clash.” He pointed out, but caved to Foggy’s gentle pleading anyway. With the promise that he was more moral support than fashion advisor.

It almost became a game, Foggy telling Matt what color a shirt or blazer or pair of trousers were, and offering them to touch. Gauging his friend’s reactions, even as the other man assured him they were all fine options, sure that if he could see they would look great on him. But Foggy noticed, when he pulled back quickly, or when his fingers lingered on the fabric.

He couldn’t just make Matt touch everything, that would give him away. So he would read what kind of fabric it was if Matt seemed to show subconscious interest, tried to remember how they felt to him and use that to pick out items that wouldn’t repulse Matt’s fingers.

All and all it was a success. The new suits and shirts not causing withdrawal. Not chasing away the casual, platonic touch his business partner offered.

Though, it did have the unintended effect of Matt touching him *more*. Hands smoothing over his upper arms as they walked together. rubbing wide circles onto his back while Foggy worked on paperwork, giving his thigh a few extra friendly pats when they sat next to each other at a cafe.

Well, sensitive to touch or not, at least Matt couldn’t hear the thunder of Foggy’s heart beat.

This week on thunderbolts HCs with Wyrm

Bob has never seen snow in person. He grew up in Florida, moving around he stuck to warmer climates or any places that did get snow for winter he was part of the homeless population that got bussed out to the west coast once fall rolled around(something very real that does happen) and then ended up in Malaysia(and the vault in the desert) so until he met everyone, he had never seen snow.

The first time he sees it in the middle of New York he’s not super impressed. He’s cold and miserable and yeah it’s pretty coming down but then it turns into grey slush piled on the sidewalks and he doesn’t know what the big deal is.

Then maybe the team takes a trip upstate, or to Vermont. And Bob sees wide untouched expanses of white and he is blown away. Everyone spends that first afternoon doing all the classic snow things, snowball fights, snow angels, sledding, all of it!

And maybe all of them heal their inner child just a bit in that afternoon.

So I watched Superman yesterday (no worries I am still obsessed with thunderbolts… and also daredevil now… anyway)

Like to preface this, I do not think Lex Luther is redeemable in any sort of way. He is selfish and cruel and a spoiled brat and PERFECTLY WRITTEN AND ACTED.

But him and his interactions with his workers for some reason reminded me of, all things,

Like if Ivo was like any bit more social.

John Walker

My man loves a challenge. He also wanted to impress Olivia and Lemar, not wanting to be just another white boy that eats plain ass chicken. Does he sometimes crave under spiced food? Yes! But is he also able to do ridiculous hot sauce challenges and shit without blinking an eye? Pre Serum? Also true.

Bob Reynolds

Baby boy grew up in Florida. He also lived in south east Asia. He also, also probably didn’t have much choice when it came to food. Whatever was cheap/free. Plus, when he was real down, heat made him actually feel something.

Bucky Barnes

Back before the war and everything, he didn’t have spice much. Maybe a little here and there, but food options were kinda limited what with the Great Depression and The War. But once he was trying to be a functional human again, he decided he liked to try new things. He’s picky with it, and won’t eat something spicy for the sake of it, it has to add to the flavor in some way. But he’ll try most things at least once. Loves pretty much any food Sam has made/given him.

Yelena Belova

Handles sour much better as a flavor profile, but doesn’t dislike spice. It just overwhelms her very easily. She will cry and snot up but eat everything anyways. Also always uses the excuse of spicy food to eat ice cream after.

Alexei Shostakov

Like Yelena, handles sour much better. Actively avoids spice. Does not like the feeling of it and will complain about it if he does have something even a little spicy.

Ava Starr

Grew up on food that was made to be nutritious, not taste good. Is wary of anything more than salt, MAYBE pepper. She is taking baby steps, tho.

Thinking more about John Walker Military dog AU…

With all the shit that’s gone down with super serums and super soldiers the public view of it has tanked. So the US government decided you know what the public would love? Animal hybrids. People love animals! Nothing could go wrong!

The thing that they didn’t consider was that only certain candidates with certain behavioral traits were compatible with the process.

(The US government turned a blind eye to the fact that said traits were symptoms and signs of neurodivergences. Because they clearly weren’t neurodivergent if they were ‘functional’ enough to be in the military.)

John Walker was one of the first publicly compatible candidates and jumped on the opportunity in a heart beat.(people pleaser much?)

Thing is, human brains were not meant to deal with animal instincts. So anyone going under this procedure needed a fully human companion they trusted to keep them ‘in check’. Lemar was this for John.

They were an amazing team, John stronger and faster with heightened senses, and Lemar, the calm, logical mind to keep him grounded.

John was even picked as captain America! His tail was wagging in every single interview! The public loved his very visible dog traits! It was going just as well as the Government had wanted!

But then Lemar is killed and John goes *feral*. He gets lost in his instincts and feels like he becomes something less than human.

Valentina sees the potential in this and hires him. But he is also such a loose cannon that she was considering killing him even before the vault.
