just because they’re prepared for crashes to happen, doesn’t mean it isn’t still scary as fuck for the drivers. anyone’s first thought in that situation would be “shit, I’m in the way, someone could hit me!”

to claim that George was more concerned about his position than his and the rest of the driver’s safety is insane and complete stupidity. people love to find someone to blame and someone to put down whenever something goes wrong. just because a driver you may not be a fan of has crashed, that doesn’t mean you have to be an asshole. crashes are scary, the drivers are people too.

I have seen a lot of biased takes in F1. I have seen a drivers get undeserved hate just because they aren't popular or well liked as some drivers. I know that lot of people have issue with GR.

What I don't understand is the take that GR was asking for Red Flag to hold on to this position.

Like... how can a human being hear that radio message and hear anything except pure, unadulterated fear. He was screaming for a red flag because car was lying sideways right after a mid speed blind-ish corner.

Crash structures are in the front, back and side of the car, not on the floor. Also, second impact is more dangerous in F1 because the crash structures would have already been damaged during the first impact.

Last year, a drain cover made a hole in Carlos' car. What do you think is going to be the result of a f1 car hitting a f1 floor?

Listen to Stroll's onboards. His engineer also sounded panicked when he was telling Stroll to be careful as the car was on the middle of the track.

If you really think GR was plotting while he was lying sideways in the middle of a high speed f1 track, fuck off and stop watching F1. You are not a real fan of this sport.
