Joanna Due made this gorgeous quilt! Pattern is Prima Ballerina by @prideandjoyquilting. In my mind the dancer was jumping (see photo 2) so I orientated her according to my brain… when I searched the pattern online (halfway through quilting) and realized I had the customers backing loaded sideways I was mortified. Thankfully Joanna has a great sense of humor and forgave me. After a recent trivia question, I realized that I had never read what is considered the first modern detective story (The Murders In The Rue Morgue) which was written by Edgar Allen Poe! Who knew? The stories have a Sherlock Holmes feel with observation and random knowledge used to solve the cases. The book C. Augusta Dupin is actually 3 short stories. Written in 1841, it took a minute to become accustom to the language of the time! Leave it to Jodi to tackle the tough and current medical and social issues. This book takes place in an abortion clinic in Mississippi. The laws in Mississippi make it hard to get an abortion and this book weaves these constrictions into this fictional story following several lives. Picoult has a knack for showing you different points of views of a current issue. I’ve read several Picoult books and they are all very well written.
