so i was watching the office and one scene from s3 ep 15 (Phyllis’ wedding) caught my attention.

not spoiling the show too much, but the scene starts around 18:20. jim watches his love interest (pam) leave with someone else, except pam is actually in love with him as well (he is sure she doesn’t). jim is in a relationship but is obviously in love with someone else. and every breathe you take is playing in the back.

now i have no idea if it’s a serious parallel but there ive seen so many pam/jim and byler comparisons that i had to share it here

sometimes i watch an old piece of gay media from the 80s/90s/ even the early 2000s before gay people were seen as a profitable audience and they always have like... rawer and more interesting portrayals of gay people and gay sexuality than any mainstream modern media

support black people, esp women, who need help. don’t just call us strong or tell us we’ll get through it, help us. protect us. uplift us. allow us to be beings capable of suffering. give us the same space you’d give white women to express our pain and be there for us like you would for anyone else.

I like the idea that El picked up on Mike and Will’s feelings for each other even pre-s4 because it means that in Rink-O-Mania all three of them were operating out of jealousy the entire day which is honestly hilarious and makes a lot of sense too.

Will was jealous of El. El was jealous of Will. Mike was jealous of some girl that he made up in his mind. Hilarity ensues.

Will is seriously getting sick of gas station food.

He knows beggars can’t be choosers, or whatever, and Argyle having a wallet full of cash on him when he pulled up was a stroke of luck Will isn’t about to take for granted, but–

Look, I understand people who don't like the idea of Will having powers (even though he technically already does) I understand them.

I get the narrative appeal of bad things happening to a normal person and it's just because they were in a bad place at a bad time, that has nothing to do with them as individuals, I get it. But to say that Will not having powers is better writing is straight up bullshit.

Because this isn't Will's case, Will wasn't in a bad place at a bad time, he was targeted.

The lights flickering, Will leaving his bike to run, and he's not even bleeding which is what attracts demogorns.

There are many things about Will's vanishing that remain unexplained, there are many things he did while in the UD that are unexplained, things the writers could have explained in season 4 with the group of teens when they were the UD but didn't, so these details are left as plot holes.

Will had "true vision" and could move between sides even before he was possessed.

Even that he can sense the MF in season 3 has no utility other than to remind us that he still had a connection to the UD (Sorry but it didn't even have narrative utility, Will could sense the MF seconds before he attacked the party? Not very useful)

So no, Will not having powers would not be better writing, it would in fact be very weak writing with many many plot holes regardless of whether you like it or not.

Because One never wanted Will dead. I mean, as much as I love will, he would’ve died as soon as he stepped foot in the upside down if One truly wanted him dead or just didn’t care about him (Barb died - like Will, she was taken by the demogorgon).

Like Will said in season 2, the evil - now known as Vecna - wanted to kill, but not him, everyone else. This contrasts what we saw during his episode : the « evil » was menacing, it threatened clearly Will’s well-being. But he felt that it did not want to kill him.

So how did Will survive a week at the UD by hiding?
