I love that Arcane sets up alternative timelines since it give so many great possibilities for 'what if' scenarios, especially for Jayvik since Mage Viktor has been essentially been doing this by giving Jayce the different runes, so here are some of my favourite S1 Jayvik alternative timeline trigger points (in chronological order)

1. Viktor never leaving the undercity, Jayce getting exiled to the undercity, still invent Hextech - love this concept, their work being smaller scale and scrappier, focused on helping people in the undercity, but them still running into the same issues of needing funding and external forces seeing the potential in their work (likely Silco). Trying to keep their work under the radar to not draw attention from Piltover that Jayce has continued his work but this becoming more and more difficult and this escalating tensions for Zaun

2. Viktor arriving too late to Jayce's apartment but swearing to pick up his research in his memory - we saw Jayce makes personal notes in his journals, just imagine Viktor reading these and falling in love with the man in the notes and the idea of their potential together. Turning his Arcane research into an obessession of bringing Jayce back (maybe with some Arcane corruption). Jayce coming back and obsessive co dependence ensuing

3. Jayce did announce their work at the progress day speech and doesn't lean into politics - it be interesting to see what impact this actually would have on the wider story, the shift in Jayce and Viktor's relationship wouldn't happen, Jayce wouldn't engage with the Hextech weapon conversation (but they're already built) and wouldn't attack the shinmer factory. No potential deal with Silco and Heimerdinger can probably have a better case of blocking their research. But they'd still likely turn to Singed and Jinx would still potentially set the rocket off (but no Jayce and Viktor there). I think it's got the potential of either very minor or very major changes to the plot!

4. Jayce doesn't fuck up the bridge conversation and Viktor tells him about what Singed said - I think they're still going through with the experiment but Jayce meets Sky's fate but very different outcome, Jayce is a Councillor, people are going to notice he's missing. I think Viktor would likely take the Hexcore and run, hoping to find a way to save Jayce. But to everyone else, it looks like Jayce and Viktor have taken their research and run, likely to Zaun or kidnapped by Zaun

5. Jayce finds Viktor in the lab immediately after the Hexcore incident - I don't think Jayce would blame Viktor for Sky's death, he may have even tried to convince Viktor to keep going with the research to save him, potentially leading to the S2 rift earlier in the timeline. Alternatively, I think Jayce might share what happened at the Shimmer factory with Viktor leading them to similar conclusion of giving up and just trying to do the best for Zaun.

Might keep jotting these down in another post but there's just so many good jumping off points for them!

I love that Vander has hung up his gloves, is doing what he can to make the lanes a safe place to live and to protect his kids but the kids have a shooting range in the basement. They're scrappy, powder is litterally building weapons and bombs in her bedroom.

Vander knows the peace is tentative, he wants to protect the kids, but he's also preparing them for the reality of needing to fight.
