For whatever reason, magic doesn't work in Mezalea. Like, at all.

Outside of Mezalea? Sure! Freeze as many lakes and throw as many fireballs as you'd like! But as soon as you cross the border into Mezalea, it won't work, no matter how hard you try.

Maybe this is because King Joel doesn't believe in magic. Maybe this is why he doesn't believe in magic. He's never seen it, so why should he?

I have many story ideas to go with this. Like, maybe Scott once got frustrated with Joel's disbelief in magic and tried to freeze a pond to prove it exists, only to be called an idiot when it didn't work as it should. Maybe Gem is more curious than annoyed about it, and conducts experiments whether Joel likes it or not. Maybe the voice of a certain god can't be heard in Mezalea, so maybe Xornoth hangs out there sometimes.

I don't know, just been thinking :)

Here’s a really shitty pitch for the next life series theme.

I call it, shared life.

Two random players share one inventory, it’s a lot like double life. No health is shared, just inventory. I can imagine the fights of the people paired for what’s important enough to keep in their ONE inventory. This also means they share armor, because of this they can use better enchants and have a few more lives like in wildlife. For the people who don’t team together that share an inventory, it’s hell. There would definitely be some bugs to fix but I think that’s the best part.

The plot twist? This was all just a Grian ploy to hate on the inventory system, hoping that Minecraft fixes it.

What happens when your partner dies, you may be asking? Sure you don’t have to share inventory anymore, but slowly, and painfully— those inventory spots start disappearing.

Is it the best gimmick? No. Is it *that* interesting? Not really. But it would be really funny just because of how the series is, and that’s what counts.

I look at the people trying to make Joel to have lore in the life series and sigh. Guys he’s immune to magic and lore, he literally can’t comprehend the watchers. He can’t see them guys. No matter how much the watchers try to taunt him, make him sad or angry, literally anything— they can’t. He’s so immune to Lore that he’s untouchable.

I love the lore implications that you can use with Joel being atheist (in his character) in most series. He barely ever believes in higher beings or gods, because pff- no one is better than Joel smallishbeans. Jeremyism? Created by Joel and lead by him. Xornoth? He’s not real if you ignore him, no such thing as him. God Joel? He’s a god, the bestest thing to ever happen to the empires.

You could apply this to life series headcannon. (as I do) he hears whispers from the other players that this death game is never ending and watched by the all powerful gods called the watchers. He thinks that’s crazy. There are no gods, no one controls Joel.

What’s My headcanon? Thank you so much for asking. The watchers slowly took over Scott’s body as the season progressed. The real Scott is trapped by the watchers in the void while ‘watcher puppet’ Scott roams the server as their spy.
