Oh, to be a Packer fan in the 90s again...
REAL MUSIC VIDEO: 'Where the Hell is Neenah?'
This is an actual music video by the group Cheeseheads with Attitude, or CWA. It’s entitled Where the Hell is Neenah? As in, Neenah, WI. (Unfortunately, I had to include the video(s) after the jump. Scroll down and click on to Read More. Trust me, it’s worth it.) To borrow a phrase from the always hilarious Dave Barry, I AM NOT MAKING THIS UP. I’ve got here what it says about the video on their youtube page; the information is slightly disjointed and frankly, I’m having a tough time not editing the content. It’s really testing my OCD. But I’m leaving it in tact, so you can read it in its entirety because, honestly, I can’t tell if it’s a joke or not. I’m starting to think it’s not.
This hit song is from the bands debut Straight Outta Wisconsin released in November 1996 on Cheezee Records. [Cheeze Records?! Are they fucking joking. Cheeze??? Yikes.] This video was shot in and around the Fox Valley in sub-zero temperatures during December 1996.
The song was a #1 request on WIXX in Green Bay for 8 straight weeks. [This, I believe.] CWA became local super stars getting major coverage on all regional and state TV networks, and appearing at Bars, Schools, Malls [Haha, malls. Insert Mallrats joke HERE.], Comedy Clubs, Tailgate Parties and yes even Bowling Alleys [what they meant to say was, ‘and of course, bowling alleys!' Bowling alleys are our bread and butter!]. The CD was out-selling Garth Brooks and the Spice Girls in major chain stores like WalMart, Fleet Farm [Fleet Farm? Congratulations.] and Musicland.
The band also appeared on Game Day each and every Sunday during the Packers play off run in January 1997 at the Convention Center across from Lambeau Field. The hall was jam packed with 5,000+ Cheeseheads that couldn’t get into the sold out stadium. The Packers won the Super Bowl the following month.
Produced and Directed by: CWA and Shawn Card. Edited by: Shawn Card for Ace Card Entertainment. To buy CWA CDs or the CWA Home Video please visit www.TuffCds.com or for more info e-mail [email protected].

We're Taking A Little Break
Hey everyone - we're going to be taking a little break from releasing Wisconscene episodes while we sort some things out behind the scenes. We'll try and get some bonus content out in the interim, but don't expect full episodes for at least a few weeks.
Also, i might be closing and then re-opening this blog. It's currently a secondary blog to my personal one, and i think i'd rather it had its own account. The URL will be the same, but you'll need to re-subscribe. I'll probably do that next week.

Episode 201
In case you've missed it on YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter, the first episode of our dark and gritty reboot of Wisconscene is online now, just click this link right here! It features The Type and Baristacide, and a number of technical issues in the audio, video, and hair departments. But we learned a lot, and future episodes will be life-altering in their perfection! Or something.
Anyway, now that we've crossed that bridge, new episodes ought to be rolling out on a weekly basis, beginning April 13 with Sir!NoSir! and The Hussy!
I cannot tell you how pleased i am with this development. Rock on, Madison.

Finally!
I'm pleased to announce that Wisconscene is FINALLY returning after a long hiatus. We'll be filming the first episode of the second season tomorrow night with The Type and Baristacide, a couple of familiar faces from the first season. We're doing things quite differently this season, starting with the fact that it's now a "we" instead of an "I."
Wisconscene will be filmed in an actual television studio. There's going to be interviews and exclusive performances, all with professional video and audio recording, rather than just me fighting my way through crowds with my cheap consumer cameras and a Zoom recorder set unattended in the back of the room.
Want a preview? Well, if you have to ask, you must not be subscribed to the Wisconscene YouTube channel! Here's a five-minute sneak peek of what's to come, starring Madison's own The Hussy and a thoroughly uncharismatic fat guy as the host (me...Trevor): http://youtu.be/Ms0h_cwlPxw

Want Some Audio?
Would anybody be interested in a monthly mix tape download? Free of course.
I'm considering offering such a thing here on the Wisconscene tumblr. I've got a metric ton of live audio hidden away on a hard drive that i've been recording in the Madison scene for years, and it would be pretty cool if some of it would see the light of day. So i'm thinking of putting together mix tapes to disseminate to you, the masses, the people who could appreciate stuff. As with everything else i do with Wisconscene, the purpose is to increase awareness of your scene and the bands in it.
But before i start doing this, i just want to know that it's a worthwhile endeavor. Are people interested in this sort of thing? Bands, are you interested in letting me put your music out there? Of course i wouldn't put out anything without permission.
Another thought i had was to offer full sets for download. This might be a bit less appealing to bands, i'm not sure. I'd do it, if someone wanted to download full live shows for my band, damidol, i'd make that happen. So, again, is THIS something that you'd be interested in, as a fan or as an artist?

Theft, and What to Do About It
So, i need some help.
There was a great disturbance in the Force this past week, as you may have heard about if you're following Wisconscene on Twitter or Facebook, or if you had seen last week's episode on YouTube. Except that i know you didn't see last week's episode, because i haven't posted it yet; it was delayed due to a variety of factors including me being too bummed out to focus on it. It's finished now, and rendering; i'll have it up on the YouTube channel in about an hour.
But if you haven't heard, i went out to The Wisco on Thursday to catch Pyroklast and The Garza, and during The Garza's brisk 29 minute set, somebody walked off with my Zoom H2 audio recorder, a device which i frankly cannot create Wisconscene without. If you don't understand why i can't just use audio off of my video cameras, watch the episode and hear for yourself, because that is precisely what i was forced to do, and i'm not happy about it.
I was fortunate enough to obtain a new H2 from Best Buy as an open item for a fraction of what it would have cost to replace it. Though the box was pretty mangled, the unit is shiny and new and works like a dream.
However, i can't just go out and replace my equipment all the time if jackasses are going to continue to stick my stuff in their pockets and walk off with it. I was lucky enough that some very generous people in Madison's scene came forward to offer monetary support to help me remedy my problem this time around, i wouldn't count on that happening all the time and i wouldn't want to. As i've stated before i'm doing Wisconscene to benefit the area's musicians and i don't want a thing from them in return.
So that leaves me with the problem, what do i do to deter equipment theft in the future? My audio recorder and my cameras are all about the size of a bar of soap, so walking off with them is easy. I need to find a way to stop that, and i'm soliciting ideas right now.
So far the best i've got is to wrap them in barbed wire and hope that means something to someone.
My next best idea is to get somebody to come out to shows with me and stand right next to the audio recorder the whole time. I realize this would not be ideal for the person on security detail, but really, what else can be done?
If you'd be interested in being my security person every now and then, let me know. I'd be willing to pay your cover at the door and maybe even buy you a drink, but i'm afraid that's about the extent of it. As of right now, i'm making no money on Wisconscene, so everything comes straight from my own meager coffers.
I wouldn't be looking for one person to go with me all the time, that would be crazy, i go to three or four shows a week these days. I'm hoping to generate a list of people willing to do this sort of thing, so there's lots of options.
Any comments on the situation, or ideas on how to deal with it, are welcome. Also, any tips on the scumbag that stole my gear.
