How'd you get your work to be so expressive?

I've been struggling with this myself recently so I've decided to ask a few artists I know for their advice.

Lots of pinterest references honestly! And I study shows that I watch. Reading a lot of comics has helped a lot too. I think that studying book covers, comic panels and even moments in cinema have really given me an edge in what I do ^^ Say if I were to draw someone, the pose wouldn't just mean anything, I'd think of what the pose is trying to communicate and how much value there is in body language. This might also be because I really like watching people and the way they move. I love watching dancers, figure skaters, etc. Having a mirror also helps. Also frequently ask yourself "what emotion/feeling is this?" when looking at a pose on a conceptual sketch.

I never think to look at anime for inspiration because of the oul lessons that are ingrained in you with institutional art lessons.

Update, in my favourite spot but people won't fucking leave: I hate it I hate it I hate It I hate it. This is my day off I shouldn't have to deal with loud people I don't know/like.

In the Cafe that I frequent there's this really cute windowsill seat that I really like, because it's qt the perfect corner to oversee the Coffee shop.

I love how the rule for making an American version of a foreign movie is too make it generally worse and add more camera and sound effects.

Like, a scene that would be a single shot in the original would be one practically silent 5min shot.

BUT in the American one it's 12 mins with 50 shots, a full score and an abundance of sound effects

yoooo i’m halfway through my FAITH playthrough rn. just saw your art of it. any tips 🥲

I recommend a healthy dose of prayer and hope, I've been stuck on a boss fight in Chapter 2 for months now, the game is very difficult at the best of times. I do genuinely love the story though and all things drenched in Christian Imagery.

I unfortunately have no tips other than that when you get the gun in Chapter 1 you should go into the room on your left and shoot the mirror three times :3

So a Micro Update: I'm currently taking some time away from posting art so that I can actually make some good shit, I apologise that I've been kinda quiet since I did the #lewdvember post. (also work I've gotten a job since then and it's been kicking my ass)

I do hope to maybe bring that back next year if #hmtober2025 doesn't take it out of me.

As of my last sort of Update that I did I'm still working on the physical version of the piece that is my current profile picture, mostly just collecting supplies at the moment.

Have some New Vegas inspired Lino cuts in the works that I can't wait to show off once I have a few ready.
