Fantasy Romance
Writing/Manhwa Prompt
So there’s this female lead, right?
Typical, adorable girl who is sweet, cute and funny but runs into tragedy after tragedy in her life, either by her family's hands or externally. Mary Sue type. Except, this god intervenes in her death and sends her back in time.
She wakes up, determined to set things right. So the first time she's faced with a major repeat challenge (death of a parent, childhood accident, arranged marriage to a terrible person, ect), she tries her best to overcome it. But this poor girl. She's sweet, but unlucky, and it leads to her failing to fix things. She can't change her circumstances. This is when she first meets the god.
He consoles her in a dream, encouraging her, but definitely looking down on her. Even haughty and arrogant, he did give her this second chance and seems to be invested in the outcome, so she lets it go and pulls herself up by the bootstraps.
So along comes the second challenge, and this time, she just gets the timing wrong. Maybe she was delivering some info on a villain, and their plot unfolded before she could stop it, I don't know. But, either way, she just missed it. The god comes back, more exasperated, but still seems to care about her in a kind of: "favorite character on a tv show that you wish would be just a little less dumb" way. This time he informs her of what she should have done to get things right. Which, you know, everyone loves to hear after the fact. The female lead sucks it up---this is only her second error, after all---and forgives him, but it doesn't stop a small seed of resentment from being planted.
When she meets a third, minor, inconsequential challenge that she is able to fix, it stokes her passion just enough that she moves on. The god visits again, but this time when he praises her, he gives her a "treat" of some kind to reward her efforts. But now, it's becoming more and more obvious that she's on the same level as a dog to him, and this is just one big game for his amusement. She leaves the encounter inwardly peeved, but maintains her outward composure because he's a *god*. He could literally wipe her off the face of the earth on a whim if he got bored of her.
She remains annoyed until another tragedy strikes, and her own stupidity makes the outcome worse than it was in her first life. When the god visits her this time (this scene from the god's pov), she feels nothing but despair, and lashes out. The god shrugs it off, because hey, do you get upset when your puppy whines about making an accident in the house? No. But he is still irritated at the overall circumstances. He brought her back because he liked this character, and she's as infuriating as a dumb blonde in a horror movie. Like baby gurl, don't go toward the bloodcurdling screams in the other room, run the fuck away. Still, he consoles her to little effect. As days go on, she grows more gaunt, loses passion for life, and eventually dies.
It's frustrating and boring. He just wants her to have her happy ending so he can finally have that gratification.
Determined to save his blorbo on a matter of principle this time, he becomes upset when the first thing she does upon returning is to continuously wail. It is so annoying. What is her problem? She should be happy to get another chance and have such favor from a god. This won't do. So he sighs, and slaps a divine healing spell on her brain to shut her up and remove the direct memories of her final moments. He thinks this works fine, but from the female lead's perspective, it's like healing the skin over a laceration with pus still inside. It looks nice on the outside, but festers into sepsis if left alone. The female lead goes through a whole nother life, losing more and more sanity with every new failure, until she ends up committing suicide directly.
This time, the god is more than just annoyed. He's furious. You want something done right, you have to do it yourself. Unfortunately, he can't interfere with free will. So there's only one solution. If he wants to save his blorbo, he must become a human and live life alongside her. If she won't save herself, he'll do it for her even if it means shedding his divine power for a time.
So, he slaps on another divine spell, goes into this world full of confidence, clears the first challenge easily, because of course he's magnificent, and of course he's spent lots of time thinking over how he'd go about doing everything "if it were him". Female lead gets a little happier, giving his human form heartfelt thanks as she is unaware of his identity. She gets just a little bit of hope, only for the god to fail the second challenge. She's recast into severe depression, but doesn't blame him, because why would she blame her savior? The god, however, just doesn't understand. How could this happen? He's the best. He's a *god*. He can't fail. This is fine. He'll just snap his fingers and all will be---wait. That's right. He has no divine power until this life is over. No matter. He'll just do well on the next challenge.
He succeeds, restoking his ego, but then, his decisions lead to something unexpected.
His meddling pissed off the wrong person.
Someone who hadn't even been part of the original plot.
He has no concept of this person because he'd never paid attention to them before, and without omniscience to protect him, he gets jumped and kidnapped. He's pissed. If only he had his divine power, he'd thrash them. He's arrogant and snarky. Until the torture starts. What is this horrible sensation? This is pain? This is what terror feels like? Having never experienced anything like this before, his mental state is destroyed very quickly. Just before the final blow to kill him, the female lead comes to her savior's rescue.
He can barely breathe. He's so scared by the end of everything. When the female lead reaches for him to try and take him away, he panics and runs off, hyperventilating. He can't even imagine how much worse death could be than this, and he almost experienced it. This whole time, he'd been putting her through this helplessness and pain, over and over again, and she still saved him.
When he gets himself together, he reapproaches her, his heart softened in new understanding. He now realizes to some degree the consequences of his prior actions.
He does his best to help the female lead through future challenges, succeeding with some, but not others. They become close through adversity and shared trauma, and he dedicates himself to healing her broken mind, which he now sees the results of after experiencing her life and moods firsthand.
There was so much he missed as a god.
She was never a Mary Sue. He just didn't really know her. Never knew how complex she was, nor how hard she hid her true feelings. He is torn by guilt, and grows to love her deeply. But then she finds out his human form is just that. Her lover is the god who tormented her.
And here, I leave you. Tell me what happens next.
-------
P.S. Ideally, this story would be a gradient transition from 100% female lead's pov at the beginning to 100% male lead's pov at the end. The reader should slowly come to the realization that the actual protagonist is the god, not the female lead.

My color of @sykloni's Amorpho lines for the @green-with-envy-phandom-event!
Ho boy did I spend way, way too long on it, 😂but I wanted sykloni to have a maximum effort color done by someone besides themself. They put out banger after banger the whole competition. Dug deep for every color. It just really blew me away how much love they gave dang near every line art they touched.
And in that spirit, I really wanted to return the gift of sincerity! Enjoy!
Doing math now, and I spent about 50 hrs on this. Whoops. 😅

Hahahaha. Two hours to do flats sounds EZ! Jk jk. XD tbf the lines took me like 30 hrs. Hahaha. I'm so glad you like the line art! That means a lot! I love the way you did the focus with the main source of lighting being Lunch Lady, herself. The dappled lighting on the floor is extra, too. Really gives a great nod to the fact that the UA cafeteria has a skylight roof. It's practically a greenhouse with all the windows. XD This is actually the first color of these lines where the cafeteria is colored to the show colors! Haha. Thanks so much for coloring!

Submission uuuh 23? for @green-with-envy-phandom-event with lineart by @weshney - absolutely incredible to have Lunch Lady and Lunch Rush face off I'm obsessed

The deadline snuck up on me!
I only completed a few colors just in time for the @green-with-envy-phandom-event to end. Lol. Ironically everything that is done is all @goodfish-bowl lines. XD
Me: let me color some simple lines to give me a break from the complex ones.
Also me: It needs a background, you say.

PSPSPSPSPS!!!
Here fishy, fishy, fishy, fishy. 🎶
Got some tasty new flakes for your @goodfish-bowl~
Not me finally finishing some colors for the @green-with-envy-phandom-event at the 11th hour. I hope to do more eyes later, and finish 2 super complex pics I've already half-rendered, but I figured I should at least toss out some totally done pieces for now. 😂

AHHH! It looks so good! I love how the glow on the shrimpies turned out and what a dark contrast you made the background against everything ghostly! This was originally a fight against Lunch Rush from My Hero Academia, but I think he really does fit the bill of a rando ghost in the zone, huh? XD

Attention all Amity Park citizens: There is a ghost fight in progress at the @green-with-envy-phandom-event Mall. It appears the Lunch Lady is in a fight regarding the best meal of the day with an unknown chef ghost. There have been no sightings of Phantom near the fight but our correspondent @weshney is on scene and will provide updates if Phantom shows up and when the fight is over.

Hehehe. Very adorable! I love the bubbly background and how well balanced the color choices are. It really makes the lines feel smoother and helps you focus on the parts of the linework that look the best. Wondeful use of a pallette!
Green With Envy #8
Lineart: @weshney
One (of many) last Hurray for @green-with-envy-phandom-event !
I'm gonna post all my colors one after the other since last week had been busy and I didn't have enough spoons to publish them despite being finished.
This time I'm going All Out with the Palette Challenge (Week 3: #2 Yarn Galore):

I kept the little ghosties because they were cute, just added a bit of flare with the eyes, what do y'all think?

Ooooh! First color of it! I love that you did the thing they do in DP where they make the background all one darker color during ghost fights! Really made the shrimpnado pop! The overall ghostliness of it all is really such a vibe. Awesome work!

Ahhh! Very cute! I love the light green you decided on for the bubbles and the color scheme on the bed! The bed looks textured, too, if I'm not wrong, and I like the little bit of scrunchyness it adds. :D I also find it interesting you gave Sam sleeves. Hahah. Cool concept!

hello! I am making an archive of Danny Phantom events, with descriptions of the events' histories, and would love to include the Green with Envy event.
what year did this event begin, and during what months does it take place? Is this a competitive event?
would i be allowed to add the linearts from GWE to this archive?
Hello, Mod @weshney here, the original creator of Green With Envy!
Green With Envy started in 2023 from this post.
Originally I had zero intention of running the event. I just made a discord server for people to discuss the idea since the post saw so much interest. For instance, it wasn’t long before this post, rules suggestions from @jackdraw-spwrite and various comments spawned.
Somehow, me helping with ideas in the discord server came with the expectation that I was running it. Lol. So many people were very hyped, so I buckled up and put on my big girl pants so as to not let them down.
Keep in mind, this was with zero experience running an event, no prior interaction with ANY events, online or otherwise, and approximately 4 months exposure to tumblr. What did I have? Nearly 20 years avid reading of DP crossover fanfics. Hahaha.
Soon, I had participants, sign-ups, a rules doc, a second mod, @bibliophilea, for giving advice/suggestions and concentrated power of, "If I'm gonna do this, I have to do it right."
Thus, an event that runs 3 months of the year was born. January and February are the first half---those two months are non-competitive and accept line art donations to the event. We hoard those lines in a Google Drive folder, and then release them to the wild in March for a coloring competition. Other people can color along, but official event colorists will have their work reblogged to the main event page and score points for their teams. There are ten teams in total, so the number of people in each team is rather small. I've heard Green With Envy is somewhat like other competitive Phandom events, but also drastically different. The points system encourages using strategy, so what you color and when makes a huge difference. There is also a bonus point system in place at the end to encourage detailed and creative coloring as well.
The first year of the event there were no automated points; I kept track of the scoreboard manually. Yes, there were mistakes, but everyone had a blast with the event and many people are still here 3 years later.
Many of the mods are actually from year one's Red Team. Why, do you ask? I am a bully. I harrassed anyone (mainly @dooshek), who gave me energy.

I made sure to enable up the wazoo with challenges and gaslighting until every single one of their hairbrained, psychotic ideas made it on screen or paper. (I literally made them think another team was plotting against them right up until the moment the competition ended. They still weren't 100% sure they weren't their own biggest enemy until the scores dropped. *wheeze*)
This was how we got such ridiculous colors as a lightbox, hand-cut papercraft, the repainting of the signing of the declaration of independence, the little baby man apocalypse, the chronicals of Jeff Jefferson, and many more!

Year one was wild, and every year after that has just proved how the event leaves no one sane. Just take a look as some of these! Oil paintings, lightboxes, water colors, collages, spray paint, animations, paint pours, crazy renders. You want a worm Danny? A fish Danny? An octopus Danny? If you can think of it, we probably have it!
This event is 90% meme and feral energy. The hype is infectious, and participants are already starting to compare it to the bigger events with how excited it makes them.
The challenges that spawned from this event even gave us a LBM Alphabet in the server!
Cute, huh?
I'm retiring this year, but I have trained new mods, the absolutely insane @foxyteah has made automated sheets for my ridiculous rule system, and there is a task list for future generations! The gremlin enclosure is ripe for more enrichment next year, so stay tuned for future chaos!

HEHEHEHE I am cackling!!! This is exactly how this meme format was meant to be used! I love it!!! Thank you so much for this precious gift.
When you accidentally call the ghost hunter, who wants to rip you apart molecule by molecule, “Mom”. Excuse the ghost boy. He needs to go re-died from embarrassment. The blob ghost isn’t a problem and let’s be real, is probably a better driver than Jack Fenton anyways.
@weshney I hope you like it!! This was made during @green-with-envy-phandom-event!

Very pretty. It has such a natural feel and the trees turned out great with the style. I love that everyone instinctively saw the cape and said "that needs moss", too. Haha.
Was challenged by @weshney to use an impressionist style for my next colour, and this is my attempt XD
I’m not sure if I quite hit the target in terms of lighting and saturation, but there was definitely no blending/smudging involved and I tried to keep things nice and vague, so that’s as close as I can get in a short time period hehe.
