Today I witnessed the Galup VR experience at Boola Bardip. I felt it was important to get educated on local boodja, especially during NAIDOC Week. I would strongly recommend the film as an important, beautiful, and heart-breaking truth-telling meeting. It's free until the 17th of July. 🌱🌞🌱 The irony was that I noticed Woodside's name emblazoned on the side of the building when Woodside is currently building the Burrup Hub, Australia's most polluting fossil fuel project on unceded land that will endanger the sacred Murujuga rock art. I was fortunate enough to review this show at the Imaginarium last weekend. It was a showcase of Perth's best emerging drag performers, hosted by Ali Oop. The show was a wild emotional journey where the performers took us through their interpretations of the seven deadly sins, society, and who decides what is acceptable. I felt enticed and uncomfortable from moment to moment, and the show was no stranger to the bizarre - you haven't lived if you haven't seen two drag queens stirring a bowl of soup the size of a fish pond while shaking their booties. Fancy Finn returned to perform on Captain Boots's crew in the summer. It was hilarious, informative and exhausting. Here is an excerpt of the show we performed on the last day - it was over 40 degrees most of the days we performed. Despite this, we warded off dehydration, governors, the kraken, and 'redback spiders made of metal' at the insistence of the kids. Teaching them how to fire a canon and how much spices were worth, it was such a cool show and I loved being part of it.
