Anyone else have a hard to tapping back into intense emotions when need be?
What I mean by this is, my father died before I was born and I’ve spent majority of my life numb to that pain. Very rarely does it come to the surface and I feel it’s my own ability to compartmentalizing my emotions that causes this. I’d like to be more open about this part of my life with myself so I’m trying to open up and I’m having a really hard time focusing on my dad and how much he meant to me. i also had a hard time tapping into how i was feeling last year when i lost my grandfather and don’t know if I’ve even grieved him yet. Anyone relate?

sometimes i think about the fact that Dreamworks was working on the Prince of Egypt and Shrek at the same time and would apparently send people to work on Shrek instead of the Prince of Egypt as a form of punishment

Pressing down the power button until the computer shuts down feels like suffocating someone to death with a pillow and not wanting to let up in case there’s still life in them.

Does anyone else feel, like, a weird inhibition against starting new TV shows?  Like, there are shows I want to watch but when I think about sitting down to start it something in me goes “no you can’t just do that.”  What am i waiting for?  I feel like I need to prepare?  Brain:  You have to wait.  Me:  Wait for what???  Brain:  WAIT

MaDD Challenge!
Wow, it’s been too long since our last challenge!
Today, I challenge you to spend five minutes outside writing in a journal.
If you don’t have a journal, just grab a piece of paper and a pen. Write about what’s happened/happening today, how it makes you feel, or anything at all - write a poem if you want to! Just spend this time reflecting on the world around you and enjoying the fresh air.
Journalling is so good for your mental health, and it was really instrumental to my recovery. I really recommend you get one and write in it whenever you feel the need.
Good luck - remember: hope and positivity! 💚🧡💚

Daydreaming isn’t exclusive to Maladaptive Daydreaming. I’m sure many people daydream to songs and stuff too at times but not compulsively like we do. On the flip side, I can go for a walk or sit on my porch and ponder topics without daydreaming sometimes. Usually it ends in a daydream because often times I organize my thoughts by daydreaming about speaking them out loud to someone else, but also it may end in an entertaining scene in my head too. But often times it’s just pondering things in general whereas probably people without Madd can also find them selves daydreaming too.
@ people who are not maladaptive dreamers: what do you guys even think while listening to songs ??? Just listen to the song and move on with your life ??? Or watching tv shows?? You don’t re play your favourite scenes million times over in your head ??? You don’t direct a whole movie based on that one scene ????

Anybody have any suggestions on how to bring the subject of maladaptive daydreaming up to a counselor? I’ve started seeing one and I’m interested in speaking about my experience however literally no one knows I daydream like this and I’ve never ever told anyone. (Nobody knows except you guys on tumblr lmao)
