Chapter 1.

The leaves were just starting to change. The air was crisp and the leaves flowed behind the car as you drove down the country side roads. The day was coming to an end as darkness consumed the light. the only source of light was your headlights that lead the way. You just got off work listening to the radio that was silently playing the local news.

"We are here today, September 18th, in a small town called garrettsville reporting a murder that has just been reported to the local police.

The victim was a father of two kids, thankfully the kids are still safe and are getting treatment as we speak but there father has unfortunately passed tragically.

The neighbors told the police station that he heard commotion from next door that sounded like screaming and thudding And when he looked outside he thought to see a man running out with two hatches at his sides. The strange man has yet to be found. This is the 4th killing that has been reported this week and we suspect that it's all done by this monster." A female reporter went on about citizens to stay indoors and stay safe.

The story sent a bitter taste in your mouth. Annoyed with the constant evil that went on in this world. You turned off the radio so you didn't have to listen to it anymore knowing that they will jump to the next problem instantly.

As you turned onto your street but as you turned you got a glimpse of something walking in front of your car. It was tall and had orange glowing eyes as it turned to look at you . You could barely react before hitting your break and nearly bouncing your head off the steering wheel. You took a moment to collect what just happened before realizing the figure was gone. You threw your car in park and stepped outside. You walked to the front of your car where your headlights cast a light that bounced off something in the middle of the road.

It was a pair of cracked orange goggles.

The chill from the air seemed to seep right through your skin as you stood there, staring down at the cracked goggles on the road. The street was eerily silent, save for the faint rustling of leaves and the lingering hum of your car's engine. You felt that eerie sensation of being watched, prickling at the back of your neck, though nothing seemed out of place in the darkness around you.

The cracked orange goggles looked almost familiar. Something about them tugged at your memory, perhaps from one of the news reports, but you couldn't quite place it. As you bent down, hesitating, to get a closer look, a cold wind gusted through, rattling branches above and sweeping stray leaves across the road. It felt like the woods were closing in, a silent witness to whatever was lurking.

Suddenly, a noise behind you - a soft, scraping sound like footsteps, but they stopped the moment you turned. The darkness loomed, but your car's headlights barely cut through it. You felt that prickling unease deepen. The realization hit you like a chill: you might not be as alone on this road as you thought.

The thought sent a shiver down your spine, you reached into your pocket for your phone but realized you left it in your car. You were torn by the thought of turning your back on where the sound came from or crawling back into your car for safety.

But you heard those leaves cracking and crunching under neith a boot again and that alone made your decision. You quickly ran into your car throwing the goggles in your passenger seat and drove off with out a second thought. Getting the fuck out of there as fast as possible.

It’s been awhile sense I posted something on here. But a friend of mine and I are doing combined prompts and here’s one of twisted beauty and love. La segura is a folk tale of a beautiful woman who is Seen at night to attract drunk men and they fall in love with her but when they turn to kiss her her head turns into a rotting horse skull. I wanted to make this look like a monster movie poster.
