Updated him slightly to fit better with my king/yellow designs!

I generally dislike John Doe designs where he wears yellow robes voluntarily (I personally hc that he'd want to distance himself from the color as he becomes his own individual), but I do enjoy designs where the yellow is not something he has control over. My s/o proposed the idea that the "robe" was actually made of skin and is something more akin to frills.

I decided to do something with that, so here's my John Doe design

Recently got into malevolent and I had an art/fanfic/AU idea

My "human" John Doe idea is that he's a freaky shadow/tentacle monster somewhat similar to @potato-lord-but-not 's monster John design but in a trenchcoat and a hat. BUT he appears as A Normal Unremarkable Man to everyone who looks at him, unless they're actively trying to analyze his appearance, or they already know he isn't actually human.

The illusion appears different to every person, it's based on whatever sort of guy the viewer would see as the most average and mundane as possible. Two people can look at him and see a completely different man. However, if you actually look at him and attempt to pick apart his appearance you'll quickly see past the facade, depending on how fast (or if) you notice the details.

It'll be small things at first. The light hits his skin all wrong. He moves strangely. The color of his eyes is unnatural, shimmering like gold. Is that.. the corner of an extra mouth in his neck just under his coat? Why are the shadows cast by his hat so dark, hold on- his hands aren't even hands, they look like tendrils wrapped together to create the shillouette of a human hand- his skin is amorphous and made of shadow, how come you didn't see that a moment ago? How come you didn't see any of this a moment ago?

Though, if a person isn't particularly observant, John could have a whole interaction with them without raising suspicion. This happens rather frequently, how often do you closely scrutinize the appearance of random boring-looking strangers?

I also imagine the illusion extends to his items, but only while they are directly near him. For example I imagine he could show someone, perhaps a police officer, a perfectly normal ID, until taking it and walking away with it- and next time they blink its a simple piece of paper.
