To the last THREE sugar daddies who asked me out...
Your answer is you being sent straight to the people of Gaza asking for charity. Frankly, it's more important that you go spend the money on the people who don't have money and desperately need it than me who doesn't have money but doesn't desperately need it.
The World needs generous people who can and will help those children in dire need...and I think your significant other (if you have one) would prefer seeing a donation sent to a charity on your bank account rather than your money being spent to me.

Just wanted to say that the luriens' spire essay is my favourite thing and you are very correct
It pleases me greatly that someone else shares my favorite section of the whole essay. It pushed me to keep going considering that Lurien's section was originally 38 pages...then 43 pages...then a whooping 50 pages. Granted, those pictures took up a lot of room, but still 50...
By chance, what do you mean by very correct? I might have made a lot of points in Lurien's Spire essay. 😅

Question for ya'll...
I saw that Youtuber Ccmari is doing a lore analysis of Hollow Knight and has worked one's way to the City of Tears...and wants to do a fully video on the ENTIRE city, all sub-sections included.
I pray that Ccmari doesn't go insane as Lurien's Spire took me 50 pages.
My question for you all is should I share my essay or at least tell Cccmari that my Dreamers' Essays exist? Because Ccmari could use the help for Monomon's Archieves or Herrah's Den even if Ccmari doesn't use the part for Lurien's Spire.

Sometimes I sit back and think about how we canonically only see 50% of the Watcher's Spire and must resist the urge to scream.
How can Team Cherry let us access Lurien's Spire, and immediately after the double jump, put a hallway we can't access?
Tumblr media
For reference, said hallway is right here...leaving all this space in the Watcher's Spire unexplored.
Tumblr media
Yellow marks the Door on the second level. Blue is the entire area that we are barred from seeing.
And if this large section was not enough, this is not the only section we are barred from seeing.
Tumblr media
Yeah, the map only covers the elevator, but our playthroughs tells us that the walls of Lurien's room go straight down...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So yeah, we are missing the majority of the final tower before entering Lurien's resting place...but I shouldn't scream.
And then I think of all the servants' rooms and passageways...and I make a cup of tea so I don't scream.
Then I remember all the hallways hidden in hallways we visited in game and I just give up not screaming.

5 Tiny Writing Tips That Aren’t Talked About Enough (but work for me)
These are some lowkey underrated tips I’ve seen floating around writing communities — the kind that don’t get flashy attention but seriously changed how I write.
1. Put “he/she/they” at the start of the sentence less often.
Try switching up your sentence rhythm. Instead of
“She walked to the window,”
try
“The window creaked open under her touch.”
Keeps it fresh and stops the paragraph from sounding like a checklist.
2. Don’t describe everything — describe what matters.
Instead of listing every detail in a room, pick 2–3 objects that say something.
“A half-drunk mug of tea and a knife on the table”
sets a way stronger tone than
“There was a wooden table, two chairs, and a shelf.”
3. Use beats instead of dialogue tags sometimes.
Instead of:
"I'm fine," she said.
Try:
"I'm fine." She wiped her hands on her skirt.
It helps shows emotion, and movement.
4. Write your first draft like no one will ever read it.
No pressure. No perfection. Just vibes. The point of draft one is to exist. Let it be messy and weird — future you will thank you for at least something to edit.
5. When stuck, ask: “What’s the most fun thing that could happen next?”
Not logical. Not realistic. FUN. It doesn’t have to stay — but chasing excitement can blast through writer’s block and give you ideas you actually want to write.
What’s a tip that unexpectedly helped with your writing? Let me know!! 🍒

This is so beautiful! Check out this artist!
Lurien, but unmasked (aka headcannon design I came up with a long time ago. It doesn't make any sense why but he's just a crippled butterfly who watches over the city.) I wanted to go back to my roots and draw him again while practicing some atmospheric stuff.

Excuse me while I reblog this for future reference.
For the bug foods do you have anything in mind for what candy might look like? I absolutely love this kind of worldbuilding
Actually yes! I'd been working on it for a while in response to a follower regarding desserts and drinks.
Now, taking into account that Hallownest does not theoretically have all the resources that we have in our world, its menu of sweets and desserts is probably not very varied.
Tumblr media
The "desserts" prepared by the Mosskins could easily be considered reserve foods.
Each of these prepared with what the Mosskin themselves can get in their territory without trading much with the bugs of the capital.
For their part, the mantises would be in a bad position. They don't have a very extensive dessert culture, as their resources are limited to just mushrooms and meat.
Tumblr media
The closest thing to a treat that young mantids will be able to taste without leaving their territory would be sweet mushrooms impaled and soaked in mushroom wine.
The bugs of the City of Tears (The commercial point with the entire kingdom, in my opinion) would have a more varied culture of candy.
Tumblr media
Its cold and humid climate would be ideal for the preparation of cold desserts such as cakes or sweets with honey, the cold in fact would help a lot to preserve and process many types of food.
However, after consulting with some friends ... I think that with the limited variety of resources for the preparation of novelty things like desserts, most of these would have a very high price and are probably sold in the rich zone / privileged area of the City. Few of them would make it to places like Dirtmouth or Forgotten Crossroads.
Tumblr media
These desserts would be reserved solely for the nobility, bureaucracy and royalty of Hallownest.
Although a very simple and easy to get candy would be cookies.
Tumblr media
Easy to prepare, cheap to produce and very tasty. They would be the favorite candy of the larvae and children, since a trick to sell them faster is to give them fun shapes.

You made me rethink everything I know about Little Knight...excuse me while I go sit down and reflect on this...
this is super rambly and something that's been lurking in my mind a while and ive probably mentioned elsewhere, but im thinking about hollow knight again so here you go
i am almost certain that the Knight writes half of the bestiary. im not sure where this lands on the headcanon-theory spectrum, but this is something im almost certain about.
when were first given the hunters journal, he tells us that the text may be difficult to understand, but as we learn our understanding grows. there are, as i interpret it, 3 aspects of the journal: enemy names, initial thoughts, and hunter's thoughts.
the enemy names and initial thoughts are entered into the journal the first time you kill an enemy. these are more general observations and thoughts. sometimes they have little bits of lore, like follies and mistakes ("once a highly intelligent bug, deformed by misuse of soul") but generally theyre simple things
once youve killed enough of an emeny, you decipher the hunter's notes. these are pretty unfiltered, and in some cases, like bosses, not directly about the particular enemy itself. sometimes its his musings on what the infection is. these are very explicitly the hunter's thoughts and opinions, sometimes strategies on how to kill things you have by definition already killed enough of to develop your own strategies. we know theyre from the hunter because own his lil 6-eyes mark on them.
occasionally, some entries will have notes from the hunter, like dream warriors, which are quotes from the bosses themselves. other entries that aren't from the hunter are the grimm troupe notes, which are something like poetic mission statements about the purpose of the troupe, or in NKG's case, a quote from the seer of all people.
now, why do i think that the Knight wrote part of the journal? as established, i know that the hunter wrote the third part of most of the notes, and the knight never writes them. what im suggesting is that the knight named and wrote the first part of the entry for journal.
i first thought of this when coming to the sibling's entry, which the Hunter obviously did not name. his part of the finished entry doesn't even mention them, just the possibility of life existing that far into the kingdom. he says that "If so, I will hunt it." no mention of succeeding in that goal or even finding any other shades throughout hallownest.
the other entry that kinda stands out is, of course, hornet's. the first observation just states that shes a protector, who wields a needle and thread. the hunter's aspect refers to her weapon as a "flying stinger" and I'm not entirely certain if that is the hunter making a mistake about hornet's weapon or him being poetic, as he sometimes is. either way the discrepancy caught my eye
last one ill mention explicitly is the collector, which hunters note says "I've never seen it clearly so I have no idea what type of creature it is." which, to me, proves that the Knight has to have been the one to write the first half of the notes, which talk about the Collector preserving grubs and living in its tower.
something could be said about the knight only writing entries for enemies the hunter has never seen, but i think the tone of voice in the writing between each part is so different, with the first half being short sentences that summarize how the enemy attacks, its anatomy, or its place in the hierarchy of hallownest, whereas the hunter has longer sentences and talks about himself or his own relationship to the enemy (generally how he prefers to eat them).
all of this to say that i think were really missing out on a possible characterization of the Knight in the hunter's journal. this lil guy named the loodle. and the hwurmp. and the boofly. it calls the mossy vagabonds lazy, and the pilflips odd creatures. it calls ogrim gallant, and seems annoyed by zote. it also seems to notice a lot of the hierarchy in hallownest (like maggots and all the deepnest and hive entries). and it seems pretty well read, which i think is pretty neat. there just seems to be a lot there.

I am writing a fanfiction that is a crossover between Hollow Knight and TMNT with a friend of mine.
I don't know if we inspired this or not. If we did, I am so stunned and happy. If we didn't, I still got crossover art to show my friend.

Don't mind me, saving this for future reference.
fun behaviors to give dragons that aren't feline/canine based
cause as much as i love dragons purring and roaring i wish there was just more variety in how they would act
clacking their teeth together to show contentedness/happiness (budgies)
using tails as a defensive weapon in a whip like fashion (iguana)
twitching to express that they're not a threat to members of their species (hognose snake)
feeling calm when eyes are hooded/covered (birds of prey)
head bobbing as a threat display (anoles/bearded dragons)
flattening neck or sides to appear bigger (snakes/lizards)
mantling over food to protect it from hatchmates (birds of prey)
wiggling neck as a courting maneuver (budgies)
audibly grinding teeth as a warning (macaques)
maintained eye contact as a challenge (gorillas)
pounding wings against sides as a threat (gorillas)
slapping other dragons with their claws when their personal bubble is invaded (seals)
hoards used as a site to impress mates (birds of paradise)
snorting when undergoing heightened stress (horses)
making repeated loud noises with surroundings to establish territory (woodpeckers)
loud constant arguments with other dragons when roosting (bats)
building lairs that cause a domino effect of change in the land around them (beavers)
slapping their tails against the ground/water as a warning (beavers)
wiggling tail tip to attract prey (various animals)
wiggling tail tip as a warning (snakes)
plucking or scraping off scales as a sign of stress (parrots)
raising spines/frills as a response to danger and carrying on with their usual business as they believe they're protected (lionfish)
and im not saying canine and feline behaviors are wrong or bad to give a dragon (people wouldn't write dragons with those behaviors if they weren't fun in the first place!) but i feel for creatures that are mythological giant winged lizards that you can do more and get experimental with it. often the more unfamiliar behavior the more dragony the dragon feels
