I bring you this snippet to go along with today's timeline cleanse from @somewillwin who will one day be released from horny jail:

The twinge in her neck becomes impossible to ignore after the new cadet orientation.

Vi sighs at the ache, rubbing it with her fingers as she slips out of the room. It’s not in her nature to be so sneaky, but she’s not ready to put herself out there yet. Not really. This all feels so impossibly new and even if she’s signed up to be an Enforcer, it feels weird to be surrounded by them like this. Even if she doesn’t love the crick in her neck, she’s willing to take it as an excuse for a quick exit. She makes her way up the stairs towards Sheriff Grayson’s office. She gets a few glances but honestly she’s a familiar face at this point. The difference is she doesn’t stop at Caitlyn’s usual, often-neglected desk. She’s not the only one who expected Caitlyn to try and leave, so Sheriff Grayson decided to ‘remove temptation’. Vi knocks on the door and almost thinks she might be wrong when she feels her throat ache and hears the gentle snoring inside. 

Vi slips in to find Caitlyn slumped over the desk. 

The paperwork is pushed to the side and her arms are folded under her in a makeshift pillow. Despite being on desk duty and being cleared for light exercise, it’s clear Caitlyn’s body needs more time to recover. Caitlyn has always summoned a warm feeling in Vi’s chest, but it’s on another level when she realizes that Caitlyn won’t be angry or confused when she wakes up to see Vi there. There’s nothing hidden between them anymore. The new acceptance hangs heavy as Vi drinks in the sight of her Soulmate. Her love. Until Caitlyn shifts her head slightly and Vi’s neck twinges. As much as she would like to drink in the sight of Caitlyn alive, whole and asleep, she can’t let her wake up with a stiff neck. 

“Cait,” Vi says her name, gently placing her hand on Caitlyn’s shoulder. 

“Mmmm” Caitlyn hums in the back of her throat, her brow furrowing before it smoothes out again. 

Caitlyn has always been the heavier sleeper. She’s always had her own room and if anything happened during the night, no-one would be running to her. Vi has always been a light sleeper out of necessity. Especially when she was in charge of everyone. The only times she remembers truly being sound asleep were when she was wrapped in Caitlyn’s arms with her gentle voice reading to her. It’s been years since that time and the fact that they’re in a world where it could happen again—Vi has to take a deep breath so her heart won’t start to race. 

“Cait, wake up,” Vi says, “you’re gonna be really sore tomorrow—“ Caitlyn lets out a soft sigh, “baby—“ Vi starts, cupping Caitlyn’s cheek and swiping her thumb across her cheekbone. 

Caitlyn’s eyes open at that, her brow furrowing at the endearment before they realize who said it. Vi watches as her entire face softens. The look has been creeping back as they’ve grown closer but Caitlyn is always quick to hide it. Was, Vi corrects. She was because now she just lets it happen as they stare at each other down the fine grain wood. Words fail Vi as she caresses Caitlyn’s cheekbone with her thumb and feels it echo across her tattoo. Caitlyn turns into the touch, trying to hide her wince as the pain in their necks flares. 

“Sorry,” she begins, lifting her head, “I was just closing my eyes—“

“Hey, it’s okay,” Vi says, moving her hand to the back of Caitlyn’s neck. Her hair is still caught up in her bun, leaving the graceful curve of it bare above the collar of her starched shirt. Vi can feel the ache radiating lower, “is it okay if I—“ she starts, trailing off as she touches the top of it. 

“Oh, you don’t have to—“ Caitlyn trails off.

“I want to,” Vi says, “if it’s okay.”

Caitlyn nods as Vi moves to the base of her neck, dipping her fingers under her collar to rub the soreness. She can feel the knots in her own neck, so it’s easy to find them on Caitlyn’s. 

“Hey,” Vi cups the back of Caitlyn’s skull as her eyes close, “don’t fall asleep on me.”

“Sorry, you’re just—very good with your hands,” Caitlyn says. Their eyes meet again and Vi watches Caitlyn’s cheeks turn pink, “I knew that I—“ Caitlyn trails off but this time she lets out a huff and Vi sees the annoyance in her eyes, “it feels like I’ve forgotten how to speak to you.”

Vi nods. She knows they’ve been making their way back to each other, to the point where half their families think they’re already dating. But they haven’t been. They’ve made their way back and then neither of them has been brave enough to take the step further. Not until it was almost too late. But Vi can’t stand the pained look in Caitlyn’s eyes, even if she hasn’t made a move to lift the back of her skull from the cup of Vi’s hand. 

“It won’t always,” Vi says, surprised at how she feels it as steadily as her voice makes it sound, “we’ll get there.”

“How can you be certain?” Caitlyn asks. 

Vi can see the doubt in her eyes. 

But she can feel the weight in her palm. 

“Because the hardest thing we’ve done is staying away from each other,” she says, “together we can do anything.”

The doubt breaks like a storm ending. Like Caitlyn waking up. This time she does lift her head but it’s only to take Vi’s hand instead. Vi braces herself against the desk in case Caitlyn needs a hand. She won’t let her fall but she’d be lying if she said she was fully steady on her feet at the moment. But that doesn’t matter because they have the desk to lean on. And they have each other. 

“I’ll walk you home,” Vi says. 

“Only if you let me send you home in a transport,” Caitlyn counters. The color is back on her face as she continues “or you can stay over?”

Vi feels her own face burn. Even as they’ve made their way back to each other she hasn’t stayed over. She’s made it home in everything from pouring rain to a hailstorm while Caitlyn shouts at her to take the transport. But it’s felt wrong to accept any of that until very recently. It’s felt like overstepping when she hasn’t been sure what Caitlyn wants from her. Now though Caitlyn’s hand is warm in hers and the world is full of dizzying possibilities. As if on cue the bruise on her thigh throbs and Caitlyn winces. 

“Let’s get you home first,” Vi says, “I’m probably going to take the room if that’s okay.”

“Let’s get home,” Caitlyn agrees, “then I have a better idea.”

She shuts off the light and they leave together. 

The paperwork stays untouched.

Oh i know you do and i appreciate you all! I just wanted to say why i was reposting things on twitter more. Plus My update speed has massively slowed down these past two months but i hope that it will increase shortly and we can interact more soon!

A thing that a small but vocal group of people have unfortunately said is that making Vi bottom is “erasing her butchness” which really just gives me the vibe that a) they have primitive and restrictive ideas on what being butch even entails and b) they have primitive and restrictive ideas about sex as a whole. You see this kind of nonsense about how certain things aren’t butch enough. Like if you wear makeup or like pink or take fuckin bubble baths apparently you’re not a “real” butch, which of course seems to circle back around to toxic patriarchal standards of what makes someone a “real” man. And of course this logic extends to sex, where they see bottoming as a submissive or feminine act, or worse, some kind of subjugation by the penetrative party (which is why Some people seem to think that top!Cait is oppressive) which is just…… yikes.

But the thing is… you don’t even need a good reason to like seeing a certain top-bottom arrangement. “It makes me hard” is a good enough reason. I like top!vi and bottom!cait because it makes me hard, and because it’s the one that i gravitate towards with my personal feelings about how Caitvi’s personalities and interactions would extend to the bedroom. But bedroom roles aren’t binary and fixed either! They’re just loose labels used to describe infinitely complex dynamics that are different for each and every relationship!!!

People need to chill out and just appreciate the beauty of Caitvi sex. Write the sex you want to see in the world. Or don’t.

Genuinely just nodding along bc you’re 1000% correct. A tremendous number of these chronically undersocialized 20somethings have just the most uninformed fucking takes on queer identities, queer sex, everything. They build these echo chambers for themselves and in doing so just end up accidentally recreating the gender binary and strict gender roles for homosexuality it’s SO bizarre.

It’s also just so deeply sad to me bc like… do these people extend this belief to real life? How agonizing must it be to feel as though you are subjugated or made less than by being the bottoming or submissive party. I cannot even imagine what it would do to my esteem, my relationship to sex as a whole if I felt as though bottoming, being a sub, etc made me Less Than.

It’s just so crazy bc as you said you can just write the dynamics you want bc you think they’re hot!! I’ll honestly crank hog to any of their dynamic combos if the writing is in character enough & the premise believable! I prefer anything DomCait SubVi, but that’s also bc I’m fucking geriatric by CaitVi standards and that means my taste was solidified 10+ years ago

Yeah just to be clear i HATE arcanetwt but some of my favorite artists are (a) exclusively on there or (b) still in horny jail and i can only message them on there. Only @qvert has escaped the curse so far (shout out to the boob vine) but believe me if I could get all the artists to exclusively be on tumblr i would.

I also did recently figure out the password to my discord so i have that now too.

Not at all! There's just not a lot for me to interact with here at the moment! I don't get a lot of asks anymore because it's taking me longer to update so I just don't post as much. But when I get them I try to answer!
