i think veloce would be an expert of many things from his travels, the difference is he wouldnt comment on how someone else fights, but he WILL want to say something if your chocobo looks unhappy

veloce started through hunting alone, a mentor figure noticed that he hunted as though he was doing it for the combat rather than the catch (he didn't use traps or ranged weapons/tools and never used stealth) and suggested for him to pursue a job instead, so he joined the GLAs

If veloce has to say yes when the answer is no, he’s great at that cus of his permanent resting bitch face; if he has to convey an actual thought or spin a tale then he’s bad, he’s really bad he cannot lie to save his life do not count on him for anything

veloce does it because he can, he’s a simple cat and if he’s the most capable person in the room all the time then he does everything all the time without needing a reason, unless it goes against his values.

all my oc veloces just don’t have a strong self identity, they have a strong sense of their capabilities instead, and they’re all much stronger than the ppl around them and so they just assume whatever responsibilities or fate befalls them cus of it is natural and a given. he doesn’t have a strong idea of what he’d want his life to be—outside of doing stuff he loves like hunting—or have strong enough connections to others to feel much pain of loss whenever he has to risk his life for others. I think he would be a lot more troubled and conflicted if he grew up well loved and had lots of friends and a strongly rooted life; but as it stands, what pushes him to do “heroic deeds” is just the fact the math checks out, one of him can solve a problem for so many others.

kids are like small animals to veloce; he's very good at taking care of them, but for kids it's in a "get shit done" way. he doesn't actually like them cus unlike animals, kids talk and make no sense and exhaust him.

he's like this from lack of example from his own upbringing.

re: tail/ear pulling: if they're young enough, like toddlers or something, he'd just let them :'D if they're older he'd do the eorzean equivalent of that zoom meeting meme where the guy tapes his cat to a wall

veloce's azem came across venat on one of her missions in battle. he helped (barely), then challenged her to friendly duels, lost terribly, but in a similar fashion to zenos's fight, he kept getting back up and making venat work harder for her wins until venat stopped him.

she mused at his enthusiasm to which he replied, the fire that burns in her fuels him and he couldn't help but to return the same. she later understood his power was an unparalleled ability to connect to the hearts of others, and upon his insistence, took him under her wing.

i think he could've grown into many different talents had he been raised by others, but fire is in his own heart, and with venat's influence, it was his immense martial prowess and capacity for deep introspection that was eventually nurtured, and earned him his appointment.

it'd be really hard to find veloce in a crowd; he's tall for a cat but cats are short, he looks ordinary, and he stays very still most of the time and says nothing; yell his name or yell a threat and maybe he'll pull you aside after the fact and tell you to stfu 😂

for most of veloce's life, he knew chocobos better than he knew people. he's an expert carer and an unwitting chocobo chiropractor from figuring out how to sort out his bird's limps and pains over the years.

he didn't learn to ride til ARR cus he saw them as friends not mounts
